I kinda noticed they have let the "Yes we are listening" thread run forever with nary a Blue "Yes good Point" or
"Maybe that will be implemented".
It makes me wonder if they really are "Listening" (technically reading).
Should I just tell her to get it, its already on Sale and Just Play it slowly?
I know I stopped Playing it when I heard about the endings, and saw the pictures. (Really only 3 Choices?!?).
So although I am unhappy, I wasn't one of the innumerous Customers who Played all the way to the end only to
Find .....that.
I do hope those who have NOT yet purchased ME3 at least peruse the "Yes we are Listening" thread.
I also hope the DLC is so wonderful that it makes me want to finish the game.

A friend wants to know if she should buy Mass Effect 3, should I tell her to wait for the ending DLC?

People often mistake the 'listening part' of the message as 'yes, this will definetely be in the game'. Alit the yes, we are listening talk means is that Bioware are listening to us. And they should find that our wishes align with their wishes we'll get it in the game.
However, I have to sat, after playing Mark of the Assasin (DA2 DLC) that I enjoyed it very much; it has two places where the story splits and you'll have different experience if you choose the one over the other. This was something fans really wanted to see - and Bioware delivered.
So yes they are listening, but it doesn't mean we get all that we want.

I'm waiting to see what's in the EC and also to see if the problem with insufficient EMS in single player is even openly acknowledged (as in more than one PM and a sideways mention in a tweet or something) and fixed, or alternatively proved not to be a problem after all. The EMS issue doesn't need to be easy but there are people saying that they've datamined the game and right now it's flat out impossible to get a high enough score for all the endings, and the endings themselves don't need to be happy but I think they do need to be more noticeably different and above all they need to make sense so that the story across the three games is internally consistent without having to headcanon it.
Even with those two things sorted out I'd still say that ME3's story has problems and requires a greater suspension of disbelief than either of the first two, and I hear there are still bug problems with importing ME2 characters' faces correctly. So whatever happens it's not a game I'll personally be paying a lot of money for. I came to the series late and in retrospect I'd have been happy paying full price for either of the first on release rather than ten bucks each on Steam six months ago. With ME3 it's more or less the other way round. So I'll wait for some combination of knowing what's in the EC, a resolution of the EMS issue and a price drop to below twenty Aussie dollars. If it gets cheap enough I might even get it without any of the problems fixed but I wouldn't be too cut up to let my personal Sheps' stories finish at the end of ME2.

What has been seen, cannot be unseen. The mere fact that they released Mass Effect 3 with an ending that made any choice you have made during the entire series pointless because you just pick your ending is bad enough. The fact that it doesn't even make sense is a whole different matter. Nothing they put into the EC can fix the fact that they released this game with a "pick whatever ending you want even if it goes completely against how you had played the series" choice. If your friend is into a good story, tell her not to bother. If she is looking for a great game to play, grab it. Aside from that last 10 minutes, I found the game play and character interactions exceptional.

Despite all the uproar around ME3, I think that most still think it is fun playing it, that it delivers for the most part. Well, until the end. Those endings differ very little from eachother. It's a shame, because ME has made a point of making your own choices and using a sort of "moral" compass, with paragon / renegade bars. So players expect that at the end of the trilogy, it would really matter. It is rather odd it did not.
In the Silent Hill series you have a lot of different endings, while the gameplay is pretty much the same for everyone. And SH manages to give all those different endings in just one game. ME did not manage to do that in the space of three games with a emphasis on choices.
So I guess it depends on what kind of person your friend is. Is she a person who can only enjoy the story as a whole if the ending is satisfactory, or is it all about the "journey", regardless of the outcome?

Tell your friend not to touch that abomination unless she refrains from doing the final mission. That way, she'll still love Mass Effect and its universe. EC does little to fix the actual problem: The endings, their execution, and premises simply don't belong in this great series.

Having seen the EC I'd say it's a bit like Shepard's choices in the first two games. It doesn't really matter much.
