so i played the game and started trying things to see what class was best for me. i picked crowd control mage and played on nightmare with fenris isabella and anders. I got very frustrated because i died then fenris then isabela then anders a lot. i finished the game on hard then picked an archer Hawke on nightmare and i use aveline anders and fenris. we never used a health potion and fenris died once. what the hell happened? i keep checking if nightmaremode isa on and it is. i just finished the deep roads. could someone tell me what happened please?
Why is nightmare suddenly easy?

@Suicidalbaby is that with the most recent patch as well or from a previous patch? It's not on the latest patch's notes. It's on an older patch though and it did state that while the health totals of elites and bosses have reduced, you can't one-shot them anymore. If I remember correctly you can't take down more than 20% of a boss's health and 40% of an elites health in one shotmaking certain rogue skills like assassinate not as useful because you're bound to hit the dmg cap every time. Damage is wasted. Unlike before, it seems I could one-shot elites with assasinate. T_T

i think suicidal is just talking about the 1.03 patch since the 1.04 did nothing gameplay-wise besides fixing sunder.
lol you can still pretty much one-shot most enemies with a DW rogue + lacerate.
Debuff the enemy enough (mark of death, hex of torment etc), stagger it and whack it with a vendetta CCC (two points of damage = 80%, which lacerate can more than double).
Alternatively (if you want to try your luck), you can get a brittle assassinate CCC and hope for the 10% chance for lacerate to trigger. I think that still is the highest possible spike damage.
But yeah, archers got royally screwed over.

"i think suicidal is just talking about the 1.03 patch since the 1.04 did nothing gameplay-wise besides fixing sunder."
Yeah I was guessing that.
"lol you can still pretty much one-shot most enemies with a DW rogue + lacerate."
yeah but I'm running an archer so no multiple hits via DW and lacerate.
"Debuff the enemy enough (mark of death, hex of torment etc), stagger it and whack it with a vendetta CCC (two points of damage = 80%, which lacerate can more than double)."
Yeah again. I usually run solo though except for companion quests and dlc. Ugh. I might have to go back to DW. I wanted to finish the game with something different because I mostly played DW rogue the 1st time around.
"But yeah, archers got royally screwed over."
Yup. Since the force effects have been reduced, do items with immunity to knockback become more helpful for DW rogues?

um the force effects are so reduced you don't even need immunity to knockback items. they were useful before, now they're simply not necessary.

Well I still get knockback lock once in awhile especially since I solo alot. Like when they're lots of archers or a wave suddenly spawns behind me. Would the immunity to knockback be helpful then?

So they updated it to make it easier for everyone but archers. That sucks. I thought i was doing good on my own and not some update.

Oh I thought you were saying that patch 1.04 reduced difficulty. Mr-afk. My archer was able to beat the Orgre and the Ancient Rock Wraith on Hard which I'm usually not able to do. Mysterious.
