Just watched episode 67, and I died laughing when Kongming calls Guan Yu 'Lord of the Magnificent Beard' and how flattered Guan gets by that statement.

Lol pretty much my reaction/thoughts as well.

What a shame. Out of all the men that was beside Cao, I liked him the most (after Sima of course). Though I did like Cao Cao's little trick with the fruit bag.
And Liu Bei is taking matter into own hands? Don't know if that is a good thing or a bad one. Time will tell.

And I must say, I literally cried when Guan Yu died. He was my favourite by far. And how he came to say goodbye to Liu Bei made it even worse. Damn you Wu!
Speaking of Wu, isn't it kinda funnt how everyone who is appointed Grand Commander there dies? I mean, Lu Meng just died like that, never stated how.

Yeah, but he killed himself really. Pride is a double edged sword.
lol the current one lives.
Moving on though I'm near the end and you can tell its speeding up. Once the current Sima Yi versus Kongming is done I'm sure it will come to a halt. Its a shame the final ages and the rise of the next dynasty or the fate of Wu is not coverd.

^Just saw that scene as well. Anyone know the reason to why it was empty?
The way I saw it, Cao Cao knew that Xun Yu wouldn't accept it even if it was full, and it being empty showed that he is 'nothing' to him, since Xun Yu is a supporter of the Han.
Speaking of Wu, isn't it kinda funnt how everyone who is appointed Grand Commander there dies? I mean, Lu Meng just died like that, never stated how.
The position of the Grand Commander of Wu is a curse, I tell ya.
As for Lu Meng dying, well in the novel it stated that the spirit of Guan Yu took over Lu Meng's Body at the dinner
feast, told him "If living, I have been unable to gorge upon the flesh of my enemy; dead, I will pursue the spirit of this bandit Lu Meng. I am the Lord of Hanshou, Guan Yu." This resulted in Meng's death. Perhaps not historically accurate, but I tend to see it happened like that, in my own naive way.

It's not explicitly shown, but I think that was the most likely scenario, as Lu Meng was perfectly fine before.

Anyways I finished with the show a couple days ago, and I have to say over all the base production was great. And China should try exporting it rather than like everyone else importing Americana, it would be nice to have something not a carbon copy of who ever was the biggest deal in hollywood.
However I felt the ending was a bit too fast pased, the lack of Wu was a shame, and how it left off reminds me of Han Solo being loaded into Slave one. Much more of the story remains. But there is no "Return of the Ying" or what have you. I wanted to see the various conquests and the final unification. It would have been neat if a fallowing of events all the way to the next break up and Mongol Unification happend.
But reguardless of that, it was a briliant production, and honestly fun for the whole family, well minus kids who weren't like me at least. Its one of the few shows I'ld lump into like, day time soaps, but unlike all of those, I can not only stomach that one, I enjoy it. Now if only it would come to DVD.

The production design is incredible, very well done. And there are some great action sequences. However, the writing is much worse than the TV show, as a lot of the motivations of the characters don't make any sense. Sadly, the epic battle scenes, while clearly benefitting from much higher production values, lacked clear direction, and didn't convey the same sort of tactical warfare focus of the TV series.
It was interesting to see Yu Ronggang, the actor who played Guan Yu in the TV series, plays one of Cao Cao's generals in this film. Andy Lau also did a solid job as Zhao Zilong, however, the actors playing Cao Cao, Zhuge Liang, Zhang Yide, Guan Yu and Liu Bei were nowhere near as memorable as the actors from the TV series. The actors who played Cao Cao, Zhuge Liang and Liu Bei in the series really nailed those performances.
Maggie Q was great to watch, but her fake Mandarin voiceover sounded nothing like her real voice, and it was too distracting.
I gave up and stopped watching about 3/4 of the way through the film.

Kinda sad there isn't a video interview with the actor for Cao Cao. I REFUSE to watch any other Three Kingdoms movie or show without him.
On the other hand some actors for important characters of GoT refuse to read the novels ( Tyrion, Tywin for instance ) since they think it will affect their acting.
I am bit dissappointed that Lu Su got very ill shortly after becoming Grand Commander however. Also Guan Yu was very arrogant in his end..."sigh"
As for Cao Cao's death...well I am not ashamed to admit it did move my soul and I cried. I feel that if one's soul is not moved one bit by the death of a man such as Cao Cao, even almost two thousand yeasrs later in a fictionlized TV series, then he is not a man!

But the death that moved me the most was Sun Jian's.

Then at the funeral I laughed at the part where the Emperor was forced to kneel, as Cao Cao would have. In fact with that whole funeral scene I was crying at first and then Cao Pi finds out the emperor comes.
Cao Pi: We must go and greet him.
Sima Yi: Yes, everyone but you.
Brilliant.
I feel that the true successor for Cao Cao is not Cao Pi bu Sima Yi, even so I can't say that I am impressed by Sima Yan historically. Oh he took power after his father, uncle and grandfather had spent their lifetimes gaining it but he was nowhere near their level.
As for Sun Jian, it was moving but it occured so early on with a character that got little screen time that I can't say I cared much about him. In truth I don't care much about Wu: Zhou Yu was more arrogant then even Guan Yu, Sun Quan was described by his mother perfectly as being indecesive. Lu Meng was a fool who brought Liu Bei's wrath on Wu.
I do like Lu Su and Lu Xun however.

I really liked Cao Cao character, as I mentioned before, brilliantly portrayed, re-shaped a little[Okay, a LOT] as a villain but overall very well done. His cruelty was understandable and reasons even more. Not unlike some TVShows we saw lately; GoT *cough* "Look how cruel and stupid I am".
And of course, almost all the advisers. Although some of them were way over the top almost like divine beings.
"Because he always has them hidden." HAHA Cao Cao
Extras of show, If anyone is interested, behind the scenes, sort of. Although the best characters are not there:

You mean from a very historically inaccurate novel?
The way I see it personally Cao Cao was the main character of the show. The best written and best acted. I don't feel however there was an antagonist and a protagnist however rather many forces oposing each other while striving for dominance.
