I find it sad that there are players out there who's main goal is to find glitches so that they can have an advantage.

Just play the game, and have fun. This is exactly why I stopped playing CoD.

It's made worse because the only thing BioWare/EA seems to move quickly on is banning people rather than fixing things that are broken.

Ban department and patch department are 2 separate entities.

Maybe they should reassign people from the banning division to the fixing division. I mean I took patch 1.03 apart line by line and tested every bug "fixed"and about half of them are still not fixed.

I am not condoning cheating of any kind, but it seems like the banning division is certainly able to do their job ~2000 bans, while the patch makers and testers need some help (maybe an open beta? So we can report bugs before they get out? At least on pc, then all we would have are platform specific bugs going live)

Earlier, I hosted a match on Firebase Dagger, vs. Cerberus, on Gold. After a few games with a friend of mine, I opened the match up to randoms, since CeilingKid and RoadGGG, the other components of the KRO TEAM, had to go.

We got started, and after I bunkered down in the tower, I noticed that I was hearing a loud, metallic whistling sound whenever I got near one of the players - it was then I noticed that he was running around with a missile launcher out, the barrel glowing blue - and was firing invisible instant-death missiles at absolutely everything that crossed his path. This user then proceeded to murder literally everything on the map - and I immediately realized I was dealing with a missile glitcher. Not one to miss out on a chance to catch one of these elusive cheaters in action, I followed him around, observing his behaviors, class choice, and loadout. This guy was obviously cheating - so I knew I had to find out more - how he was doing it, and what he was doing it with.

He played a Batarian Sentinel (which I also did during that match), and despite his new-found ability to spew instant-death missiles, proved a fairly lackluster player otherwise; he went down numerous times during the match (I lost count at 7; I died less and I spent half the time in cover watching the doofus to see how he was doing what he did, and - no - I did not revive him; the pair of Infiltrators following around did sometimes, and when they didn't, he wound up getting up with medi-gel. His weapon loadout was a Scorpion and a Striker, and he seemed quite capable of pulling off the glitch at will, as he switched weapons several times during the fight. He appeared to have some ability to manipulate lag; he would move smoothly one moment, only to appear jumpy and staggered when swapping weapons. Above all else, the bright-blue muzzle on his launcher and that incredibly irritating high-pitched whine were what gave away his presence - almost more so than the barrage of Missile Launcher kills on the Killboard.

I would like to bring to your attention that the glitch may occur unintentionally. It happened to me today with my Scorpion, all of the sudden. I left the session immediately after realizing what's happening. I don't even know how make it happen intentionally, to be honest.

So keep that in mind.

Which is fine. But if someone starts using rockets on Wave 1 you know you've got a cheater in your game. Actually, you can usually tell who will be cheating in the lobby. Anyone carry a Striker is almost certainly going to cheat because really, who uses a Striker on Gold. Anyone using a Scorpion or Falcon will likely also be cheating.

Sounds like a real bad joke to me. Your going to ban ppl for a mechanic this game offers? Okay, you call it exploiting. Isnt reload-cancel and Decloak after a shot a sort of exploit too? Where is the margin between a "dangerous-exploit" and a legit one? Is it my fault that it works or developers fault? So instead of fixing it you just ban ppl?

I understand that ppl got banned for doing the money glitch but for this one...? Seriously?

Imagine: Team is at wave 10 gold - reapers -hack Circle... team is about to die. BUT you could save it with a the rocket glitch. Kinda hard to NOT do it. And then getting banned just because the devs cant fix their own game? Just wow guys... just wow, seriously.

Okay folks seen a lot of talk like this, so I feel the need to explain how this works since not only is it unfair to compare these things, they are not even remotely similar.

Unintended mechanic -> a mechanic put in place in the game ON PURPOSE (like the canceling out of reload animation via power use as to make power use flow better) where players find other purposes for said mechanic.  Some people figured out that this mechanic was usable to quickly reload your gun consistently.  Hence a unintended mechanic.

Glitching -> any action on the players part taking advantage of a coding error that cause the game to behave in a manner that it simply shouldn't.

It has been said that both reload canceling and the 3 second timer on TC were mechanics PUT into the game, mean while players have found creavtive uses for these mechanics it does not cause the game to behave in way it should not.

With Glitching however you are taking advantage of a coding error, circumventing mechanics in the game put in place to keep things like the infinite rocket glitch from happening.

Really though it's a moot point.  If the devs deem something to be a cheat then it's a cheat regardless.  Games are no longer static things.  They grow, change and and grow some more.  The devs job is to keep an eye on this growth and change and reign in the craziness when it appears.

I am not going to say that Bioware tests their games or the changes to the games well, to be honest I don't know their process.  But I will say this, if any of you think that a small team, or even a large team of testers can do what normally takes MILLIONS of people to do then you are nuts.  Bugs should be expected in any game.  With the advent of DLC you are quite lucky to have a company that can fix bugs like this at all, three months down the road or not.

This is so stupid, I got kicked for having a Scorpion X equipped, the guy kept going on and on about how I was going

to cheat. When in reality all I wanted to do was use my damn Scorpion X. My piece of **** turtle beaches would not work so I couldn't convince him otherwise, I had to pm him over and over-annoying.:pinched:

Scorpion X? *checks maninfest* Holy ****! I'm so jealous :P.
But yeah, I wouldn't kick someone for carrying those weapons. I'd just leave if I saw them cheating.

To be honest doing rocket glitch just once would be fun - Who doesn't like just blowing stuff up?
Not that I'm going to, but still the idea of just nuking everything in just one game sounds cool.
It would get boring after a couple of times though I'd think.

You'd be surprised what would be considered a crime.

No.. I wouldn't... but that case you linked to involved real world violence as well as virtual theft and still only resulted in a community service sentence.

Using a glitch such as this one may be considered cheating, and therefore a violation of the EULA, and I'm sure EA/BW are well within their rights to take whatever action they see fit against transgressors in regards to bans, credit wipes, etc. but trying to prosecute offenders in a criminal and/or civil court would be an exercise in futility... let alone those who just stood by without reporting such activity to them.

were playing and who you were playing with at the time.

Granted, it took a bit of time for them to correct some cheating I ran into, but they finally managed to correct it.

I think you may be missing my point.... your case is very different as it had a very real affect on the state of your account (namely your credit score), that you needed to correct in order to return to a legitimate state... that was worth your time.

In my experience, the rocket glitch is now so prevalent in public games that I would have to spend so much time reporting incidents that it would significantly impact on my ability to enjoy the game. What incentive is there for me to spend my time helping to fix a problem not of my making? In my opinion... none!

So, instead I feel I'm better off just relying more on solo and/or private games with friends... and when I do venture into public lobbies I'm paying close attention to the other players' loadouts for weapons that could be used for the purpose and judging accordingly. That has a very real effect on my ability to find games without people using this glitch.

Reporting someone doing it is not going to stop me from running into them again during the time it takes for action to be taken against them, neither does it stop me from running into the next player who decides to spam rockets in a public game, nor the next, and so on....

Today was the first day I even heard about the infinite missile glitch.  I frequently use a Batarian Sentinel wielding a Falcon and I've yet to have this glitch happen to me.  I like the Falcon because 1) those grenades stun large groups like a mofo, and 2) if you've got good aim you can rebound shots off walls and shoot around corners.  Especially awesome with the armor piercing and extra ammo mods to solo FBW/G/Bronze (I'm not good enough to solo Gold yet, I don't think).

I'd hate to have people think my character and weapon choices were for exploiting when that's not the case (Batty Sentinel spec'd for armor/shield/damage reduction makes a pretty good tank, especially when you can net unshielded  guys to save on Falcon ammo, and shockwave Geth Pyros when they get too close).

Maybe if someone made a comprehensive list of all the glitches so players know what to avoid so as not to glitch accidentally, there would be fewer bans from people accidentally setting off a glitch or from n00bs who don't know any better doing something they're not supposed to be doing.  There are some exploits which are obviously exploits (like having an infinite number of missiles when you know you're only supposed to be able to carry X number), but other bugs aren't so clear-cut as to whether they are bugs or 'features'.

Ideally, I'd like to see all glitchy races/classes/weapons disabled until they fix them, and a warning when you first login to multiplayer that doing certain things can be considered bug abuse and will result in bannination, so no one has the excuse that they didn't know it was illegal to do.

Honestly, for me it's hard enough trying to find people to play with (even on Bronze) that I hate the idea of having even fewer people to play multiplayer with because of too many people getting banned.

Don't get me wrong: I have no problem with Bioware banning cheaters who make the game not fun for others: I just hope there's some careful vetting process to ensure those people are actually knowingly abusing bugs, rather than simply doing it by accident and not knowing any better.  I also worry that the time and resources spent catching cheaters (and more to the point, differentiating deliberate cheaters from accidental glitchers) could be better spent on fixing problems with the game.

I'm not one of those people who think ME3 MP was a cheap cash grab: I think it's been remarkably well done (although I wish there was some form of PvP), and I personally found multiplayer so addictive I didn't even get to finishing the single player yet (I'm stuck at the point where that lone shielded marauder is preventing me from reaching that darned beam :P), so I think it's great that Bioware is constantly adding new stuff to multiplayer and they're interested in fixing anything that's broken or unbalanced so that people will continue to play.

If serious, don't worry you're more likely to be killed by a zombie porcupine than to be banned for being in a missile glitch lobby.
