Okay, so the reason ogres aren't seen so often is because Qunari aren't terribly common in Thedas, and because Qunari women rarely fight, or travel outside Par Vollen. That's the explanation for why we don't encounter very many of them.

It's obvious genlocks would be so common, because the spawn and dwarves both live underground and are always in contact with each other. Same with humans, since they're the most abundant on the surface, and make up the majority of most surface armies...

But no explanation is apparent for why we so seldom see shrieks... they're my favourite spawn, damn you! Elves are the original inhabitants of Thedas, and there's plenty of them all around, so I don't see why there wouldn't be very many elven broodmothers. Why are shrieks so rare?

@wsandista TheButterflyEffect is not a troll, just someone who sucks at making decent threads (not that I'm one to talk).

Why are shrieks so rare? I think BioWare just decided to scrap shrieks, altogether, sadly. :pinched:

...Then what do elven women spawn when they get turned into broodmothers?

I thought they scrapped Shrieks because their new DA2 design made them look a bit derpy?

I miss them... IMO, it was the new Genlock design that was garbage.

Shrieks in DA:O were hard bastards, especially when you had more than one coming at you!

Shrieks and female dwarfs existing in Thedas doesn't guarantee we'll ever see them in the game

That question is best answered by the people who decided shrieks and genlocks should not exsist (or, should be hard to find).

But it was so much fun to use the console to turn into a Shriek and then just run around shanking people with those awesome wrist blades they have... I want Shrieks back, they are AWESOME!!!

But variety is so awesome... the Spawn just aren't as fun to fight without the full ensemble. :(

Very true. It gets kind of boring when all you're fighting is hurlocks, with the occasional ogre. Hopefully BioWare will fix that in DA3. I won't even judge them for changing their mind, even if they don't give us a reason for the lack of shrieks and genlocks in DA2.
