Read a LOT of posts on how easy/hard the game is.

My question is, is it easier on the Pc due to the Mods and thus harder on the Console due to lack of mods.
Or are other factors[minus player ability] at work?

I play on the Pc3, one complete on Normal and now one on Hard...and there are  times where the battles come down to last man standing on virtually no health...to other times when have to knock the Difficulty down, even in "normal" fights[talking to you Denerim warehouse Howe Guards].
And l sure as hell do not have endless potions taking up room.

Thoughts?

The difficulty is mainly on party setup/gear. If you got a tank with good gear and taunt and a mage with heal, regeneration, group heal and lifeward towards the end of the game then there really isn't a single fight that should be to hard with the excepting of Ser Cauthrien the first time you meet her. I think she might be a terminator in sent to the wrong time period.

But it really comes down to that. As long as you got a good tank with taunt and a good healer there isn't really any fight that is to difficult. 90% of the damage will be concentrated on warrior and with steady healing nothing should be able to kill him.

But I have no doubts that the game is harder on console than on PC. Even though normal on console is the same setting as easy on the PC. It's just harder to micro manage your companions on console and that it part of why some people feel the game is really hard, since they only control their PC character.

I personally am looking forward to a AI/difficulty mod so Nightmare will be a lot harder. Especially the bosses. Kinda funny how a group of lower level archers represent a bigger risk than a high dragon.

I have the PC version, and I have found some fights to be hard, but mainly at the lower levels. From what I have read, the PC has much more room for controlling your party, with much more ease, especially with things like zoom out, so I think that the console versions would be harder. I think that I read somewhere that the console versions difficulty levels are easier than the PC's levels though, with things like friendly fire being turned off in the normal difficulty for console while being turned on in the normal difficulty for PC.

I am actually working on that atm. I should put a download up when finished. The problem for me atm is that increasing the strength of the creatures because of the way they have set it up in the 2das tha I can see, is that when I am finished, all the difficults will be harder, from easy to nightmare.

However, seeing as I am making the mod for me primarily, I decided I didnt care and that anyone who wanted a more difficult experience are most likely playing on nightmare already and wouldnt care anyway.

I have just finished the casters in the game. Genlock Emmisaries casting Group Heals is pure win. My mod will only change the strength of the mobs, it wont change any spells etc, so if you are a FF taunt cheeser, it probably wont make any difference to you. Things will just take longer to AoE and the bosses will just take longer to kill etc.

Thats true, you take FF till Hard difficulty, so maybe it does all even out.

I have both the XBox 360 and the PC versions. I didn't think it was true but I have to admit the PC version is far more difficult on Normal settings versus the Normal setting of the 360...and I'm having allot more fun with with the PC version too.

on the xbox good use of tatics and weapon/armor combonation are a must, because party control sucks. You can only move one character at a time, no movement on pause. Also sometime after you give a npc a command they do someting else instead. Some spell targeting is impossible as you need to be facing the target of the spell, the exception is healing which can be done on puase. as for FF, on normal I have frozen and damage other party members.

overall I think different tatics need to be developed for the xbox then the pc.

I think they even out in the end. I my reasoning for the PCversion being harder is because you have greater control over your group. Whereas console is easier difficulty because you don't have as much control. Therefore, I think they balance out.

Done some testing and on any difficulty the console version is definitely harder. The PC interface is too smooth to be considered a challenge and even has the birds eye view which is a huge advantage to consider itself hard. On the console you cannot really plan your attacks as well as on the PC. And fantasypisces thats the whole point more control makes things easier

This. This is the MAIN drawback to the console system that makes it so much tougher. Want to move your spellcasters out of the way? Better hope the second one survives long enough for you to move the first one and get back to him/her. No setting the cursor and then moving to your next task. You have to walk that Mage all the way to where you want 'em, manually, before you can do anything else.

That being said, now that I have both, I actually stuck with the PS3. I hate to say it, but I hate the camera view on the PC. And, the game sure looks good on a 55" plasma compared to my little 19" laptop screen!

So basically, console is harder because the controls suck? ;/

Console does have better items though. Stamina regeneration items are 2x on console, and they also have that tier 7 dagger PC doesnt.

I love playing on console. It has all the chaos of combat and fog of war. You have set your tactics well, because you have little control over your companions once the fight stops. I've played both, and I actually like the thrill of the console more. Although I probably reload on console more often.
