If the game had continued its series to a 3rd game, I'm sure they would have explored the Shivans more. The Shivans a completely overwhelming force in both games. Much like the Reapers, killing one of the Shivan super destroyers takes everything we've got, and they always have many more on the way. Also like the Reapers, the Shivans have destroyed many civilizations and home worlds in their time.
However, one thing the Shivans do is make stars go supernova. That's why I have to give it to them. A shame we don't know why.
I made a thread on the game if you're ever interested:

Necrons, Orcs, The Empire (sw) heck even the Federation (ST) would be more dangerous. Yes Lasers cut into ME shields like butter. So did assualt rifles. Shielding tech was sub standard, Armor is laughable, Orbital bombardment was laughable, even a GDI Ion Cannon is more effective than what the Quarians had.
I could go on all day here really. On a side note your polls on this issue are annoying and endless.

Don't know what the hell it is but its been skulking around Earth and has attempted to assimilate with us Humans. While not a threat to males, it has the ability to make women litteraly fawn all over it, some to the extent of crying of pure admiration.
Most likely will need to kill it with fire but if we don't we may be too late and this creature would make women attack every known man alive and then breed with every female creating more of these creatures.

I forgot about the Thing alien. That it is what I would consider as the biggest threat to organics. You don't even know if you have been assimilated until you end up falling apart. Any form of contact with infected tissue and your guaranteed to be infected. I certainly don't want a hand suck on my face or my face gets glued to another poor bastards face.
Ooooh thats a good one. One of my earliest memories was watching this movie and geniunly being scared as hell.
Also I'm surprised no one said the Aliens from the Alien franchise or Predator.
I feel compelled to talk about the Go'uld from Stargate and the Ori. Very powerful the former because they can insert themselves into us and take over our lives without us even knowing. And the Ori for using their powers to make everyone believe their gods and having it be so effective.

So in that sense, the First Ones (specifically the Shadows and Vorlons) seem more dangerous in the context of their setting. But you don't ever get the same feel of helplessness when Sheridan and crew take on the Shadows as you do when Shepard and crew take on the Reapers. Different writing styles, I guess, since the First Ones are just as incomprehensible as the Reapers. That aspect is just downplayed a bit more.

necrons from warhammer 40k are more dangerous than reapers because they star gods necrons wipe out all life even race that dont use technology http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Necron combine from half life 2 alsowizardryforever wrote...
If I'm interpreting your question correctly, you're asking if there are any sci-fi aliens that pose as big a threat to their respective settings as the Reapers do in ME. In that case, there aren't many, since the Reapers are only interested in the ultimate destruction of advanced organic life, and seem almost Lovecraftian in their scope and unfathomability (is that a word?). But if you're looking at power in-universe, I'd say that the Shadows and Vorlons from B5 are pretty superbly powerful. At least in ME, the organic races can understand how the Reapers work, since they are largely just scaled up versions of their own tech; it's their motives that are difficult to get. In B5, the "young" races can barely comprehend the sheer scale of the power used by the various First Ones. Planet killers, for example, are just beyond anything that they ever though possible, not to mention the Thirdspace door created by the Vorlons.
