I felt worse for the destruction of Whiterun in Skyrim than Thessia in ME3

Go play Fallout 1 and get to The Hub. Damn pick pocketing bastard kids, you steal my stuff, I'll get it back somehow.
(Not valid if it's the censored version. Where they removed the sprite for the kids yet left in the code that pick pockets you...)

Fallout 2 has kids in Den that can steal crucial plot items and you'll stop main quest because of that. Burn them with a fire! I wish we had opportunity to do it with Star Child.

Ha yeah.  After actually spending some time there, I did too.

I felt sad for the kid on my first playthrough... Never again Bioware... Never again.

Yup. I teared up pretty bad when I saw that kid get blasted out of the sky. And that was also the moment where I first truly hated the Reapers. Before, they were just a detached villain necessary for the story. But now I just feel bad that the Kodiak crash didn't kill the kid enough

ME3 tended to hit my emotional buttons pretty well. I liked Anderson, liked Vega, etc. I felt bad at the fall of Thessia, though it was slightly spoiled at the cheapness of the scripting (seriously, a gunship? Didn't I take out a couple of those on foot in ME2?).

But the kid. I never once felt anything for the kid other than irritation. It was just so heavy-handed. Plus, yes, innocent kid dies and that is bad, but literally thousands of other innocent people are dying in that very second, and millions more are going to wish for a death that quick and relatively painless. Kinda takes some of the roar from the thunder.I may be pretty easy to lead around by the nose sometimes, but that doesn't mean I can't spot distractingly obvious emotional baiting. And the dream sequences were just fail. Nice visuals, but they were just trying too hard.

They shoulda had the kid carrying around his pet kitten. Then I woulda been like "YOU SONS OF ****ES YOU KILLED THE KITTY!!!"

Seeing the kitty in nightmares.

And the catalyst appears as the kitty.

OMG I woulda been crushed.

You know, you guys should all play Pong or something like that, because you're all clearly far too sophisticated for games with storylines.

so·phis·ti·cat·ed 1. Having acquired worldly knowledge or refinement; lacking natural simplicity or naiveté.

I understand that your post was a failed insult of some kind... but did you just accidentally call yourself simple and naive?

I'm not as annoyed by the kid as I was by his dialogue. What was WRONG with that kid? A soldier, nay Shepard is offering to help him. What 6-7 year old kid replies, "You can't help me, derp."

The above dialogue is what helped convince me that there was something seriously wrong with that kid. Like, he was surreal. Why was he always in Shepard's mind? This is what strengthened my belief that the kid was Harbinger and a latent form of indoctrination... but now I've come to the conclusion that it was the writers trying to force an emotion.

This is "Mordin". He looks just like the beloved character from ME2, however, his wit and quirkiness have been replaced by frequent use of the word 'problematic' and off-key singing. His voice is really weird now. Instead of speaking like a genius whose mouth can't keep up with his brain, he now sounds like he has some sort of disorder. AND NOW HE'S SINGING TO HIS DOOM. WEEP AT HIS PATHOS.

Does anyone know why Mordin's VA changed?

Probably the worst offender throughout the entire series:

This is the Alliance. You are an Alliance soldier. You will always be an Alliance soldier even though they **** on you and don't trust you and get you to do their **** work, despite being a Spectre and above the law, and despite the Galactic nature of the threat you face and the rallying of every species. You love the Alliance. LOVE IT DAMN IT!!!

And keep on f*cking SALUTING, dammit!!!!

Mass Effect 3 had a storyline? I barely noticed with all the plot holes and everything. :P

Nobody knows seeing as how they never even bothered to contact Beattie to reprise the role. And Beattie expressed interest in returning.

Maybe they were hoping nobody would notice?

Ya know... if watching a child get turned to slag right in front of you doesn't kinda make you a little disturbed by default...

I just lose faith in humanity a little more each day.

The problem with that however is, that that child represents (to most players I asssume) the Cataylst. And the Catalyst, as we all know, is a crucial part of the atrocity that I will not name here.

Hence feeling sympathy for the kid is .... problematic.

Then I sure hope you won't check the download numbers for Skyrim's "killable children mod"

I agree with you people when it comes to the kid and the dreams... too hollywood-ish sledgehammer morality. Felt un-ME-like from the very beginning...
But the quote above is just blind flailing around in the momentum of criticism.
Every single background you can choose for Shepard in ME1 has some element in it that brands him eternally loyal to the alliance. You can even read this in your codex written by bad writers.

This is an observation that I believe The Angry One originally made.  The problem with trying to make the Catalyst more sympathetic by taking the form of the kid is that it's like talking to serial killer who happens to be wearing the skin of one of his victims.

Our only interaction with the kid is that very stilted and awkward vent scene.  It's not helped by the kid's uncanny valley weirdness, it looks more like an animatronic marmoset rather than a human.

The only sad fact is that this game actually made me think there was justification for killing a child.

Haha, i have to admit.. the game also made me  to think about justifications to kill a child. I thought up several reasons why aswell.

I'm probably a terrible person but when the kid got blown out of the sky i couldn't help but cackle and fistbump in the air. If they wanted to make me sad or mad at the Reapers they failed horribly because i don't think they intended me to enjoy watching the kid die.

The most hilarious thing after the scene where the child is killed was Shepard's face.
The cliche "close eyes, then look at the ground" thing.

And yeah I didn't care for the child. I also didn't care for Thessia because I don't like Liara and I don't like the Asari in general.

Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed thread, I have one final thing I want you to consider. Ladies and gentlemen, this is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk. But Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now think about it; that does not make sense!

Why would a Wookiee, an eight-foot tall Wookiee, want to live on Endor, with a bunch of two-foot tall Ewoks? That does not make sense! But more important, you have to ask yourself: What does this have to do with this thread? Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this thread! It does not make sense! Look at me. I'm some random BSN user trying to add something to this discussion, and I'm talkin' about Chewbacca! Does that make sense? Ladies and gentlemen, I am not making any sense! None of this makes sense! :P
