If you have the CEP 2.1 or more recent you may wish to try ArgentumRegio City of Dohral - it offers many customized features (keyed to race, class, level, and similar factors). Argentum offers vastly expanded options for character development and RP; if you have 20 minutes let's get together online so I can let you see our latest RP-enhancer (not yet in general release) called the Immersion Tool (IT for short). Characters can be enabled to swim, climb, fly, jump, hide in objects and more. This is a very PNP D&D sort of world.
Hope to see you online. Web site in sig, forum link on web site.

<butting in...>
Although it doesn't look like you need it, I can attest that the City of Dohral has one of the best, and IMO most professionally put together newbie/tutorial areas I've come across.
I have not, however, had the time to review more than that :-/ These guys keep me busy...

We'd be happy to have you join us in Arnheim as well. Arnheim is currently played PnP style, meaning that we get together as a group and play together. "We" typically includes two DMs, and four or five Players. We've played five sessions so far, and the next one is planned for June 30th at 6pm PST.
Arnheim Adventures is where I announce sessions and sometimes post screenshots.
The party is currently in a marshy river valley, with a base in the sleepy river port of Adermarkt. Some of the locals were carried off in the night by frogmen. The party is presently deciding how to approach the problem (or whether they will do anything at all).
I posted an Overview of the Setting at my website for prospective players, and from there if interested you can access lots of other information.

<quipping...>
I would also say that Arnheim has some of the best immersion and sound-sculpting I've come across. Even though I was only able to do an accompanied walk-through of his earlier work, I truly enjoyed my time there. And I know it's gotten better since then :-)
A world I truly want to return to.

As far as oldschool hak-free ones go, I grew up on : Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 Online Chapter 2: Narc's Bonds of Blood
Listed under Role-Play, "BoB" has a long tradition of ingame and fan fiction rp, and a great dm team, and much more...
"Bond of Blood" is also a fully functional player ruled faction based PvP server (including Capture the flag and PvP arena),
as well as featuring increasingly challenging quest oriented boss-battles.
Initially you start with nothing, and must work your way up. Like the old SSI/TSR DOS Dark Sun "Shattered Lands" you start as a slave under an evil dictator, and must find a way to earn your freedom or rise to power.
Technology-wise, it has many great features, most importantly it's combat, a unique experience in terms of fun and balance (spot listen hide move silent etc are all calculated for initiaive) as well as excellent boss ai.
IMO def worth a try
(And for fun, you can name a character first name "TEST BUILD" and any last name and it will take you to an area were you can level a prototype character to level 40)

Hak or not i don't care.
I tried Highground it seemed sorta abandoned to me..., FRC was a nice place but feels sorta slow in both roleplay and adventure aspects, the dm team is fairly nice and the players seem helpful but it feels for hinderance towards certain play styles and to big for the population.
What was that server located under you busy old gnome?

You're welcome to try Thain. It's fairly well populated with a friendly player base and a good DM team. It's RP focused, but all play styles are welcome as long as you're respectful of the RP'ers.
Forums:
http://www.thain.org...forum/forum.php
Direct connect: thain.no-ip.org:5121
Direct connect2: 31.25.18.253:5121
Give it a look. No haks required, but the first time you log on with a character you will be required to make a password to play. Then every time you log on you will have to type the password to play.

Hello,
If you're still playing and looking for a bit of something new then I recommend Kingdom of James under PW Story. We having daily events and a (slowly) growing player base. The PCs we do have already are very friendly and helpful. There are a lot of very large areas and many places to explore along with an ever evolving storyline influenced by the characters. There are rewards for Rping just as much as there is for fighting monsters so come prepared for a versed experience. If you're interested check us out under PW Story Kingdom of James or on Facebook at...

If you're still looking, World of Caenyr could be another great option for you. We've been around for over a decade, with a constant foundation of players (although like every PW it has gone up and down over the years), monthly updates to the world, a very friendly and supportive staff and community, and we just did a huge overhaul to really reinvigorate things so we're set up for years more success in the new NWN community environment of today.
Here's our website
And here's the link to our PW post in these forums too, for a nice overview of features and such. We'd be really honored if you'd give us a shot! Promise you won't regret it.

ArgentumRegio / City of Dohral is always online at 66.232.100.90
Playerbase continues to grow, and the features list just keeps getting better with each update (about 2x a week). As Rolo Kipp noted above, we have an excellent tutorial area we call Noob U. and I'd be happy to give you the guided tour there if you like, or you can solo it... but i strongly recommend running the area as it demos fly, swim, climb, jump and much more.
Hope to see you online!
Be well. Game on.
GM_ODA
see us on the web at playnwn.com
see the web site at playnwn.com (please ignore the graphic at the top of page, the server is online even if that graphic is not working atm).

HG is still around and going strong - we are far from abandoned, though development was on hold for a while due to RL. Paragon-level areas are about to start appearing.Delanish wrote...

I am looking for some folks to form a party for a DMed campaign. It will most likely be graveyard shift so overseas people are welcome. Campaign will be ongoing and roleplay is strongly encouraged.
Some info on the setting/world here http://www.lucidgrooves.com
Once I get a party, appropriate info will be distributed to respective players.
During play, we would all use Skype or my own Team Speak server, whichever would be more popular.
Email me through that web address or message me here.

Try the Vast. It's a HCR server and is a lot of fun. High RP, good action slow leveling after about level 4, but combat really gets the adrenalin flowing. Could use a few more new players, just like any other place... http://www.nwnthevast.net is the website address. There's some Haks that the DM's recently added that polished off the server and it looks great. Come in and take a look! Go to the Website and get the Direct Connect address from there.

Also try isle clostridia. Lots of low level quests and quests up to level 18. The level range on the server is 1- 24. The server IP address is 69.194.201.19:5121 and the website is http://www.isleclostridia.net. One of the quests really got my attention: finding a lost library in an ancient ruin that was destroyed about 1000 years ago for the local wizard. When I saw that quest I had to give the place a look! I haven't started yet but I'm trying to get a friend in there I've played another server with and I'm trying to get more people in there as I prefer group play. Just either msg me or reply to this post and we can arrange a meeting time if you're interested. Hope you're still looking at this post :-). Would really like to try this place with some people.
