Would it be all right if Bioware used some kind of KIckstarter-like idea to gauge preorder interest in the game, if not KIckstarter itself? Might be worth thinking about. Especially if less popular selections could be cancelled in advance.

I'd like to see:

Cheap option- The Chant of Light, in a "pilgrim's edition" that looks like something a peasant would use, or a simple cloth map.
Moderate expense ($100 game) - a physical ring like The Wicked Oath, Memory Band, or Blood Ring. Not too flashy or expensive, but something that attracts attention when on full display.
Expensive as hell ($400 plus) - either a silver-plated Joining chalice, expensive unbreakable potion flask (think Superior Mana Potion shape), a richly elaborate Chant of Light, or a table-sized cloth map complete with miniatures. Make your ping pong table look like Loghain's war room!

Oh yeah, and USB sticks/ authenticators would be nice too.

as others have already said, if u were to make all future dlc for the game free, then that itself would be more than enough for me to buy the Collectors edition!

Personally I think an actual physical copy of a completed codex would be really cool.

Well I already have 2 dragon statues, one from skyrim collectors and one from blizzcon 2010, so no more dragons...... You guys already did a cloth map with dragon age 1 collectors. I think you guys should maybe do something with a bit more lore behind it like an artifact from the grey wardens.

Depending on the story and if its a continued character from dragon age 1 you could provide the goblet we drank the darkspawn blood from (make out of materials so we could use it in real life!) or the pendant of the blood that alistar gave to us afterwards. I just think a relic or artifact would be cool.

art book is the most interesting
I was disappointed that for the European Collectors edition of origins for Xbox360 the only extras were a different cover (with cardboard sleeve) and a bonus disc with a few making of documentaries and other things for PCs only - which put me off later collectors editions (DA2 seemed even worse).
Maybe more parity between countries would help (and maybe more allowance for consoles)
and remember not all console gamers have internet connections
(if Bioware is prejudiced against offline console gamers could they have the decency to admit it rather than just quietly block us from the ME3 forums and refuse to talk about it)

A phial of blood from a random BioWare employee so that we may practice blood magic with fairly magical blood.

OH DUDE YES YES YES YES YES YES YES........yay. Sorry you guys had to witness that. I agree with this as well. I absolutely love those kind of things. If the special edition of DA3 came with this I"d buy it immediately. Seriously....Bioware....do this.....please? I'll love you forever if you do Image IPB

Also please have the game in an epic tin case. I love it when videogame companies do that. It makes my games look sexy.

I massively disagree with a grey warden pendant or the like. Things that are fairly unique in the game
I wouldn't want to have. It cheapens the feel. The same for usb sticks.

I agree with the replica from the game suggestions:
-A book with stories/lore, leather bound with an 'old' feel (again, not unique to the game i.e. the grimoire).
-A necklace like a random person would have, Region specific perhaps (e.g. Orlais)
-A document holder, leather bound. Would look pretty good at university or in office I guess.
-A notebook as at least Manreg has mentioned.

Case:
Definitely a proper case. I hate a regular dvd case. A tin case is nice as mentioned above.

I also really like the idea of a dynamic wallpaper. For example a large vista with a character
standing close by with the wind blowing softly.

For all the above I have a personal preference for an in game symbol. Not the game symbol.

As a last thing, as I see a book as unlikely, a manual as the one that came with Baldur's Gate.
Written as if by someone from the world. The BG manual really got me in the spirit of the game,
unlike modern manuals that do the opposite with all the corporate and technical talk.

a statue of the chalice the grey wardens drank the blood of the darkspawn from with the quote...

"Men and women from every race; warriors and mages, barbarians and kings... the Grey Wardens sacrificed everything to stem the tide of darkness... and prevailed."

I read a few of the entries and found many of the items mentioned quite interesting and in accordance with my own preferences.

What I would like is a book combining codex entries, concept art, and maps. Not just an overall map, but maps of the different places. If Val Royeaux is one of the locations you travel to then there would be a more detailed map of Orlais, and a map of Val Royeaux in addition to a map of Thedas. If a specific neighborhood or section is worth a codex entry then a map of that area (Denerim alienage, Lowtown in Kirkwall). The concept art could be a montage if the character/creature is in more than one game: the hurlock from Origins to 3. The concept art would be with the codex entry. The hard part for me would be not reading all the codex entries before I played the game the first time. I suppose it wouldn't be practical for an achievement to be created which upon completion of the game for the first time would signal Bioware that the book could be sent.

Other things which would be interesting:
  • complete set of companion bobbleheads, maybe even a choice of DA1, 2 or 3 (love my Shale)
  • hard copy of 'The Silent Grove' (complete)
  • a griffon pendant
  • a warden pendant
  • a mousepad map for each country visited in game
  • this one will be controversial and I know it isn't likely to happen, but a toolset
  • Content is ok, more or less, as long as it is an item such as a weapon or set of armor. I don't want playable content that is only available through the Collector's Edition. It's fine if you get a discount for it, but have the option of purchasing it separately later. That includes the Black Emporium.

I had a spontaneous daydream about class-specific editions. In it there would be something characteristic to one of the three classes. But I don't know what would be compact enough.

Or maybe the Chant of Light? I still want to know what was that terrible pun one of the sisters in Denerim mentioned.

Bonus in game items... 'tamed' large predatory animal. Lion, Bear, Wolf.

ME MP Bonus: Edmonton Blood Angels. One of each class in Blood dragon inspired armors.

... and for $500 (or more for better seats), cross promotion with Medieval Times, where they'd perform a DA related story.

a box of cookies made by Sten himself.

Bonus points if they taste horrible (but are still edible), to reinforce how Sten is neither a baker nor has ever tasted cookies prior to landing in Ferelden.
