I don't have many new ideas to add, but I still wanted to show my support for the inclusion of a replica of the Warden's Oath amulet. I would wear that every day, possibly including on my wedding day. ^.^  A collection of world lore and concept art would be nice too.

My fiancé also wanted me to suggest the inclusion of a set of D&D-esque minis of all of the companions, which I think could also be neat.  It could potentially even be expanded to a Dragon Age minature game of some sort.

Finally, I adore the idea quoted below:

What about releasing different types of collectors editions specific to each character? That way players could buy their collectors edition in the version of their favourite character.

For example if Alistair was in your 'future hypothetical title' you could release an Alistair themed Collector Edition including some of these items:

A statue of Alistair.
His Runic Worry Token.
His Mother's Amulet.
A T-shirt with Alistair on it and maybe one of his quotes on it.
Concept art of Alistair

All the Collector Editions could also have set items such as a soundtrack from the game, a map, concept art of locations.

You could do this for all the characters in the game, that way there would be more choice for fans and in a way their collector editions would be personal to the gamer. Whether or not your able to do this is another matter...

I just want a toolset!

Mh, but if it has to be something physical ... I'd like something that's wearable but doesn't scream "VIDEO GAME CE TRINKET," lol. Something that's small but of nice quality.

If you wanted to own a piece of Dragon Age history in a collector’s edition of a future hypothetical title, what item (or kind of item) would you most treasure?

A copy of the Chant of Light, in beat-up-old-tome form.

I'd take it everywhere.

Little early for this question I'd say, as we have very little information on the game itself. Thus, I'll give vague collector's items, as I can't possibly clue in on what I'd desire.
  • Perhaps a statuette of something iconic of the game, something like trailer Hawke or the Arishok for DA2. Maybe a blood dragon with "carvings" of the iconic characters on it's wings, similar to DA2's wing-holes representing characters.
  • A Dragon Age bible, maybe just containing most codex entries as I doubt the writers want to write full blown revelations.
  • Lambert's letter to the Divine annulling the Nevarran accord. Similar to Witcher 2's letter about the king.
Don't want / care about anything Grey Warden, Alistair or whatever as that was DA:O's thing.

I think a Grey Warden Chalice would be cool

Like I've seen earlier in the thread; A combined Codex book with important things. Like characters, locations but also things from lore, about the elves, dwarves, lyrium etc. Would be very cool!
And I love statuettes/figurines, so including something like that would be amazing. Also the art books have indeed become more popular, but if that is included I want it to be of good size. I have the artbook from AC2 and I was disappointed on how small it was (A6 format I believe) while the Skyrim artbook was big. (A3 format?) That gives it meaning and you can actually feel that you see something.

This is what I can think of now. Limited edition crazy as I am I might think of more...

Firstly, I'd like a bunch of game content in the CE. I like collecting every item at launch for a DA game and I want tons of items in a CE that I can use in my game.

Secondly, I'd like to see a Dragon Age medallion or necklace with a hand crafted dragon on it.

Thirdly, I also second the codex book suggestion! I was actually thinking of something similar. A hand crafted hard cover with a dragon on it and a book loaded with art and plenty of lore entries just like the game codex.

Fourthly, a cloth map similar to DA:O with a photograph of the team and everyone on the team signing it.

Lastly, I'd love to have a hand crafted ring made of  lyrium(lol) signifying the universe in Dragon Age. Maybe a dragon like the necklace?

Some sort of physical version of the codex! Or maybe a statue, like a griffon or a dragon!

TL;DR: Don't raise the price to much, and practicality and nostalgia help justify cost in my mind.

My problem with physical collectibles is that it (typically) jacks the price up a lot, which usually means I don't purchase it. That said, I did really like the Dragon Statue in the Skyrim collector's (though I couldn't afford it), and I thought the Fallout collector's editions were amazing. I Played with the playing cards, I used the lunch box to take my lunch to work, and I had the Bobblehead on my desk (it was the right size). The more likely it is that I can get some practical use out of it, the more likely I am to be able to justify the purchase. That said, the Fallout collector's editions were also pretty cheap by today's standards. Additionally, being an old school gamer (I played the Ultima series when it came out), I am partial to cloth maps. Comics are also a great addition, I love reading more about the world in the game, and comics don't raise the price too much. The Mass Effect comics, and the comic in Fallout New Vegas really stand out.

In terms of "trinkets," maybe a small eluvian, a "lyrium" ring, a golem figurine, or a snowglobe of the "Golden City" or "Arlathan" or etc.

As for printed material, I'd agree with the above suggestions for a compilation of all the codex entries. Just a general lore dump about all the different political and cultural and religious entities, and all the different creatures, races, etc.

I'm a sucker for art books personally so some good concept art would be nice. Of course I'd also love a cloth map, I know one came with the Collector's Edition of Origins but that was mainly just of Ferelden. Since the scope of the games has increased I think we should get a map that has equally expanded. Those two are pretty tied for me as to which I'd prefer. Behind them would be an awesome statue, maybe of the main character of the game or a very important character.

Concept art book is standard but it's always good . Cloth map is great idea too (but it don't have to be necessarily a map. Maybe some kind of sketch with runes written on it ). But actually I'm agaist any special DLC or in-game bonuses

Oh and necklaces , rings and such stuff sounds awesome too (especially if they're connected with the Grey Wardens )

Morrigan's Ring or the amulet Flemeth gave Hawke to bring to Marethari. I am very curios how this amulet might look like. Or, if possible, a physical replica of the Red Lyrium Idol Hawke and Varric uncovered in the Primeval Thaig, for which Bartrand betrayed and abandoned them. In the game I did not quite make out what form it had, so I am even more curious about it.

Would really like to see a grey warden statuette. Although, I think that it should be available in both genders, as the armour would be different. Weta did a great job with this on their hell gate Templar statues. Also would love to see more artwork for sale.

I've never bought a CE for anything but extra in-game stuff so far so I'm mainly into a season-pass for the DLC's or something. Although a grey warden pendant sounds kinda awesome.

A nice quality cloth map is always nice. Or a nice artbook (assuming the game has nice art in the first place however). The codex suggestions sound interesting too.Actually, a printed and illustrated timeline, maybe along with a printed codex would be pretty cool.

Above all with a collector's edition, give it a nice steelbox case.

Wow, great ideas here. My first thought was that I typically hate these sorts of things that just add clutter... like the fake-looking Argonath bookends in the LOTR DVD special edition. In that particular case, I think "replica" type items that aren't terribly high quality aren't as attractive. But, there are so many good ideas here that appeal to my inner DA lore fanatic.

- Almost any of the codex-like book ideas... esp a well-thumbed, bound version of the Chant of Light (love that idea!)
- An action figure of one of the more beloved companions
- Or some other representation of an in-game character, like bobble head or stuffed chibi
- A t-shirt, perhaps with a funny quote or phrase, like the Morrigan disapproves -20 one

So I guess my own personal preference is for something sorta useful, but if not useful, then character centered. Also, it should be something exclusive as opposed to something you might already own (like Dawn of the Seeker or the Sacred Grove comics).

Bronze statue of Morrigan in at least 1 meter size. Something like this would be definitely cool

Soundtrack. I have very little interest in statues and the like.
