Yeah I have to say wouldnt mind playing as the enemy would be cool to play as a cerberus phantom, engineer, nemiesis, Geth prime, pyro, hunter, Reaper Marauder, brute, banshee. Although I wouldnt mind playing as a reaper ship that walk around the planet blowing things up just for fun. Or having a story line play as harbinger lolz. Although I dont see that happening at all sadlyElindile wrote...

Support roles IRL are huge. All the same, thanks for not making a video game about meteorological combat support.
That would quickly turn into a golf game or barbeque simulator
A Bioware RPG + BBQ Simulator....I would totally play that. Imagine the hours I could spend calibrating my smoker

My thoughts on build effectiveness in ME3:
Effective? I don't play many different classes; instead, I will try something new until I find a mix that I happen to like, then play the crap out of it until I wear it out. Like upwards of 30 games with the same build. Keeping that in mind, I think the most effective builds are those that are easily adapted to handle any map-enemy-team compositions
while still retaining good survivability and providing at least a moderate damage output or friendly-enemy buffer zone. In other words, I prefer "well-rounded" classes that can handle all situations. It may sound like an obvious "strategy," but I highly doubt most players--indeed even those on BSN--build characters with that specific goal, if any goals, in mind. Versatility is key.
In terms of damage output across the board, Infiltrators/Tactical Cloak and self-detonating biotic classes deserve immediate recognition because, I think, the main hurtle with dealing damage in ME3 is overcoming armored enemies. Most sniper rifles, especially when TC boosted, and BE spec'd biotic classes should easily overcome armor's inherent damage reduction with raw damage. When that's not an option, I might opt for a dual weapon scenario: one an accurate weapon for long range targets and getting headshots (also good for close range), and the other a high damage weapon such as a shotgun. The trick is balancing damage output while retaining acceptable power cooldown times, which should be different for most builds. Melee builds (and Vanguards) inherently minimize or eliminate the need for long range accuracy. In theory. But in practice, Geth. And so on.
That's how I view build "effectiveness" in ME3: on an individual level only and not a team level. It doesn't matter what team-oriented abilities my teammates have if I have no guarantee that those abilities will be used effectively, in the right situations; likewise, it doesn't matter what team-oriented abilities I have because I have little guarantee that my teammates will actually capitalize on them and my self-perception is biased, obviously. Teamwork is a conscious decision, not something that can just be switched on, unlike an ability in ME3. As such, I can't qualify a build's effectiveness in respect to a notion like teamwork. QED. Although, I still do what I can to help a teammate out when I can with what I have.
Edit: Fixed. This forum's posting is a bit screwy... Reformatting my post...

Most effective in terms of ease in soloing Gold: Krogan Vanguard with Reegar
Most effective in terms of speed in soloing Gold: Geth Infiltrator with Claymore.
Most effective in terms of ease on my part in completing a public Gold game with people I don't know (and I unfortunately find most of them to be liabilities): Geth Infiltrator with Krysae.
If I'm playing with friends who are a lot better than the typical Gold player I meet in public games, my most effective class depends on my team's composition and strategy (e.g. I wouldn't be very effective with a Drell Adept on a team full of grenade users.) These games are the most fun as we can complete Gold games as fast as 13 minutes with a huge variety of classes and weapons (definitely can be faster if we focused on speed, which we never do).

For both fun and effectiveness. Explosive Combat Drone, Explosive Incinerate, and Chain Overload. Everything is on fire or having seizures at all times.
I suck at Infiltrating. :\\

For "Teh Lulz" there is the Krogan Sentinel, with the Kishok, against Cerberus. Fired from the hip like a claymore.
Tik tik tik tiktiktiktik, KaShooonk! Whale on the starboard siiiiiide! (Guardian goes flying with a red hot spike sticking out of him.)
Nothing is quite as funny as sticking people with the Kishok.

Yeah an ex-cerberus phantom is a really good idea. And we get their same sword attacks for light/heavy melee. Not sure what powers they would have, but one would be an infiltrator with tactical cloak I think.

MQE as a sniper, using the 6/6/6/4/4 "squishy caster" build, plus a Valiant and a Phalanx.
Human Sentinel, once again 6/6/6/4/4, with a Talon.
Turian Sentinel, 6/4/6/6/4 with the passive maxed for weapon stability, with a Hornet and a Phalanx.

They'd have to have a power for that hand beam of theirs. One would of course be an Infiltrator... for the other, hard to say. Perhaps an Engineer, or a Sentinel? They couldn't exactly replicate that power-absorbing move that normal Phantoms can do.Cdr. Pwn wrote...

Salarian Infiltrator for versatiliy, and Geth Infiltrator for pure damage(whenever I feel like BURNING my eyes -.-)
The most fun are Krogan, Human Sentinel and Asari Adept, but Krogan are in dire need of buffs asap, and the Sentinel could use some more tankiness.

Of course it isn't.
It's somewhat decent, but the other Krogan need a buff with their survivability.

I actually take the damage upgrade on rank 4 overload and the chain on the final rank rather than going with the three chain, along with the 20% power boost from tech armor it makes it actually pretty powerful and balances out taking the stability bonuses in the passive rather than power damage.
