Until recently, my most effective class was the Geth Infiltrator with a Widow. Cloak, fire a Proximity Mine specced for damage vulnerability, and go to town. Rinse and repeat, use melee if surrounded by trash mobs. Hunter mode for the extra damage boost, speed, and figuring out where to go next for more killing. Now that I've got a Javelin, I'm readjusting slightly, but the basic flow is the same.

The classes I find the most fun on the other hand are all Adepts. I have a soft spot for casters. Right now I'm on a Phoenix Adept/Vanguard kick. (Seriously, they're practically interchangeable.) I really want to try the Justicar for Warp Bubble + Reave shenanigans, but I'm still waiting to get her.

Kroginel, specced for max melee damage and damage absorption; zero points in Incinerate, maxed everything else, using Claymore and random explodey secondary weapon (Falcon, Striker, Krysae... it varies).

It's my most effective class, and also the one I enjoy using most. HEADBUTT ALL THE THINGS.

Most effective would be any Infiltrator. They basically get to circumvent one of the core balancing mechanics of the game, after all, can't get much more effective than that.

Of those, I've had the most fun playing the Salarian with a Paladin, with TC specced for "free" power use in the final evolution for more utility (since the damage bonus is wasted on him). I think it's the lack of a scope on the gun that makes the difference for me here.

I've also had a lot of success with the Asari Adept, but for complete fun my go-to class right now is the Phoenix Adept. No singularity (slows me down vs. basic enemies in the initial rounds, but it is just a waste later on), fitness for maximum shields (for not dying during the long casting animations) and then I just go and lash & smash my way through random gold games.
At this point I'm seriously contemplating changing my Origin ID to something resembling "Hulk" just for the killfeed messages...

Most effective would be my Geth Infiltrator (4/6/6/6/4) with Wraith X, Shotgun Amps and Incendiary Ammo. He also is fun to play (opposed to builds with ridicolously broken weapons like Krysae or Reegar builds). He was way more fun though when the vision range was not nerfed. I think you should buff it back to 20 and 30m and just leave him with the reduced damage (although that sucks for the Engineer).

I balance gameplay time equally between the 6 characters I play nowadays and also have fun with the others as well. Right now the Quarian Male Engineer, Asari Vanguard and Geth Infiltrator are probably my favorites and the Geth Engineer, Salarian Infiltrator and Asari Adept follow closely.

Most entertained with ... chops and changes but at the moment it's the Vorcha Soldier - I've not yet gotten tired of "BIIIG MAAASSSSCHIIINE!" :)

Naff all to do with effectiveness, everything to do with the fact that it makes me chuckle...

Recently I've been playing with a QFE with flame turret and N7 Crusader for mob control + headshots. Surprisingly effective, even on Gold.

Vorcha Sentinel. Primary weapon: Claymore or Geth Plasma Shotgun. Secondary weapon: Widow. Build is 6/0/6/6/6. Spec'd for max weapon damage, regen, health/shield, and Cluster grenades. It's my favorite class/build atm. It can be as effective as infiltrators, but without the need to put aggro on teamates.

Claymore Geth Infiltrator (4/6/6/4/6) is now my favorite build for effectiveness.  Prior to that, it is the Asari Justicar (6/6/4/4/6) with Carnifex with a mixed offensive/defensive bubble setup.  The AJ will forever be my first love  character.  The Talon is replacing the Carnifex more often now.

Claymore GI is definitely my most effective class, but I don't like to play him outside of a speedrun. Been more entertained lately by the underdog classes like fem quarian engineer or batarian sentinel.

Oh, I also gave the Human Sentinel a new try -- it was my first character choice when I started MP and hadn't looked back in a while. I roll her with 6/6/6/6/0 specced for max BEs, weapon encumbrance and power damage. I go with Mattock X and AP ammo and Mental Focuser IV. Solid class. That Tech Armor burst saved me quite a few times when surrounded by weak enemies or about to be insta-killed.

The question was entertained by not most effective with - I've never been less than top of the scoreboard the few times I've used a GI/Krysae - and I've seldom been more bored in game.

Asari Justicar - Maxed Warp Bubble, Reave and Justicar, 5 in Pull, 3 in Fitness. I carry a Carnifax with the Scope and Extended Barrel. The bubble when placed right is really effective against bosses, while Reave and Pull can handle anything else. Get another Adept of any class to play with you and you are nearly guaranteed to be the most effective players.

Human Engineer - Maxed Drone, Overload, and Training, 5 Incinerate, 3 Fitness also with the Carnifax. The Drone is a fifth squad mate, and very good at pulling the agro. Overload both staggers and does damage, while Incinerate covers anything Overload doesn't.

As to the Carnifax........well, there are times I've tallied more head shots the the Infiltrators I've played with as an Engineer or Adept. 'Nuff said.

I think my most effective AND fun class/build is human engineer 6/6/6/5/3 with a Phalanx. For the drone, I took damage/shields, damage/shields, and rockets. Incinerate, I took damage, burning damage, and armor damage. Overload, I took damage, neural shock, and shield damage. For the Alliance Training I took both upgrades to power damage. I skipped rank 6 there and went to fitness because at rank V a Phalanx gives around 198% cooldown BEFORE the AT level 4 upgrade so rank 6 weapon weight is a waste and my powers do so much damage that using my pistol is only for one or two shots for a finisher (I can go entire waves on silver only firing five shots or less). That just leaves me with 6 points that I can put into fitness without losing out on anything important. As far as gear goes, mine isn't really that good, so I've just been using a stronghold I gear for it.

For my playstyle, I mostly play on silver, and, well, shields and barriers don't stand a chance on anything lower than banshee/atlas/prime. Incinerate use on armor as well as curving around or over cover to flush enemies out, if not burn them. At that point I can either shoot them with my Phalanx, hit them with overload (most likely), or watch them get blasted with combat drone missiles. That said, I don't see my name in the kill feed that much, but I can easily be second, sometimes even first, on the board from assists alone. And since I'm usually in the back and the majority of aggro is on my drone, I have little trouble reviving teammates that aren't out on the frontlines or covering those that that rush out to help the frontliners.

My best and favorite class since release has been the Human Engineer 0/6/6/6/6. I know combat drone can be good, but I never remember to cast it or it dies too fast so I just respecced out of it. I play it with a Mantis AP/EB and hopefully someday with a Hornet ULM/EB, provided they ever fix ULM.

Apparently you missed the thread title and the OP.  The title is What is your most effective class / weapon strategy?

Derek Hollan wrote...

Although you consider it your most effective build / weapon combination, is it also the one you are most entertained with?[i]

Again your doing it wrong.  The answer for everyone is Infiltrator and No.

I work very well with an Asari Justicar (6/5/3/6/6) who wields a Disciple X and a Tempest X, as well as an offensive/defensive bubble.

I also like the Quarian Male Infiltrator (3/6/5/6/6) with tactical scan upgraded for Damage and Movement Speed reduction. I really use any sniper rifle on him. I also use the Mattock X with warfighter gear to give me an extra grenade as well as a damage boost.

I have been playing more gold games in the past few weeks. My strongest combos for gold follow.

Salarian Infiltrator / Valiant III
Using cloak I can get a bonus on Energy Drain & all three shots from the Valiant. Good at revives/objectives/everything.

Asari Justicar / Carnifex X
I cast a wide radius DR+SR+ bubble that helps me & my teammates. Maxed radius for both reave & pull = biotic crowd explosions. Headshot when convenient.

Batarian Sentinel / Cerberus Harrier II
The armor repels melee damge. Sentinel net is wide and delivers electric damage that helps with tech explosions. Harrier rips through everything.

I like all three but I am getting a little tired of playing infiltrator so much.

Vorcha Sentinel carrying a Revenant and a Wraith. Ignored Cluster Grenades, maxed everything else.
