The fact they're playing the game. Any other answer is simply wrong.

Your statement is incredibly subjective, based on what you consider to be "playing the game."

If you consider entering a match, then sure.  However, if you consider "playing the game" to be alive and physically engaged in the match as it progresses, then it becomes quite a bit more complicated.  Anyone is entitled to enter a match based on the fact that they are free to select their search settings as they please.  That doens't mean said person won't spend the entire match watching others play if they are in over their heads.  I don't consider watching others because that person is dead every round and likely in places where they can't be revived, "playing the game."

I realize that you are trolling, but just thought I would add that bit anyways.

For what it's worth any time someone calls me a troll I can't help thinking how downright moronic they sound.

And there are no semantical arguments within my statement. Watching after bleeding out is part of the game. Yes, they are playing it. If some asked "hey, watcha doin?", the person would respond "I'm playing me3" not "I'm watching people play me3". Yup, the latter does sound pretty stupid don't it.

Saying that you are playing, when you are watching sounds pretty stupid, actually. If you push a button, the best you can do is watch someone else play.  That is NOT playing.

I suppose it's a good thing I didn't call you a troll.  I wouldn't want to sound like you.

All things considered, you'll be "worthy" to play on Silver or Gold when you decide to do so.
Sure the first time around you'll get the jump from the damage intake increase and what not but persist on that difficulty even when you did terribly the first 3 matches or so.

Set your own target; i.e. not dying in 1st wave (yes... this crap happens from time to time no matter how much you prepared. >_<), etc.

Most random I played with persist with the same host for 4 to 5 matches regardless of win or lose. Chances are, by the time you get the hang of the difficulty jump, you and your "new team" would be accustomed to each others' play styles (be ready for Vanguards falling from time to time).

All in all, keep your head cool, if you juked it up in one wave doesn't mean you'll be destroyed in the end. You'll be accustomed to the slower but more tactical and coop flow on higher difficulties by a couple of waves. Be a team player, every one wants to be the backbone of the team if everything goes fubar and so should you. =D

Only do we really want to play with solo-ists?  Cause they can go rambo do their own thing without regard for the rest of the team.  So someone being able to solo might get you credits, but not necessarily a good team player.  I'd rather play with an average team player to a good solo player anyday.

Who said anything about that? My God people are really daft on this forum. People can't read a single line of text anymore without interpreting it totally wrong.

Here's my opinion. You are worthy and qualified to play above bronze if you have an IQ higher than a monkey! Sadly that makes only a handful of people on this forum valid for higher difficulty based on all the **** I read here.

if you score less than 80k, i dont want you on my team

You cant base on score in this game to know if someone is good, at least he have to be above 40k ( in gold), it depends on his role in the team, saying you dont want anyone that scores less than 80k is dumb. Also score in this game is not very accurate.

Agreed.  Is it even possible for all players to score that high?

I'm pretty sure it's not, which would say that landylan is kicking or trying to kick one or two players after each match.

I played a match today where me and another guy were at 100K on Gold, and the other two guys were 30k.  We all did a fine job.  Me and the other guy just had more powerful weapons.

260k/4 = 65k a piece if it evens out...

Jump into Silver, try it out. A few things to bare in mind
1) Don't be surprised if your team mates do not want to revive you if you are the other side of the map to them
2) Anything that doesn't work out for you can be a lesson learnt so take note - it'll make the next match just a bit easier
3) You don't need to have a decent weapon if you are a strong biotic class - in which case get 200% cooldown and practise taking down the enemy with powers [Example, Phoenix Adept can use Predator and complete silver without needing to fire a shot]
4) Team mates will appreciate you more if you participate- that means reviving, hacking, etc

If you:
-played a lot of bronze matches
- have a high level character
- have high level weapon
- have good gear for the weapon

then try silver and gold challenge. Otherwise you never know if it fits for you.

I feel a player is ready for Silver if:

1. They have a level 20 character.
2. They have at least one Common weapon up to level V or higher.
3. They have a big enough stockpile of Equipment that they don't mind using rockets/medigel etc. in a match.
4. They have played against all 3 factions and are familiar with the abilities and capabilities of each enemy.

While Silver is totally doable with a sub-level 20 character, if this is your first time trying for Silver, it helps to have a level 20 character so the odds are stacked in your favour. Even if you don't have any Uncommon weapons, the starting weapons are still potent enough once they've been levelled up a bit.

To see if you're ready for Gold is a lot simpler; if you're finding that Silver is too easy for you, it's time to move up to Gold.

IMO

Conditions:

- Find bronze unchallenging
- Need a greater challenge (be ready! The difficulty jumps up quite a bit...)
- Need to acquire more credits (must NOT be the only reason!!)

Suggested Requirements for first attempt:

- Have, at least, the avenger and/or the predator pistol at level X (buy recruit packs)
(the avenger is the best of the easiest weapons to acquire for "soldier types" and the predator pistol is the most underestimated weapon in the game)
- Have a character that you are comfortable with at level 15+

Please note:

It's not because you won a few silvers in a row (with a group of veterans) that you are ready for gold... Trust me! The step is much higher than you think and everyone needs to know what they are doing and work as a unit at that level of difficulty. It is designed for veterans that don't find the later waves (7-10) of silver challenging anymore. Players that are very well equipped and that have a high level of skill.

I knew I was ready for silver when I could solo bronze with something other than the infiltrator. I knew I was ready for gold when I started scoring decently with any class, except for the human vanguard, the stock one, I'm just bad with him, and when I really "learnt" to use my consumables and equipment.

Why go into gold or silver if you struggle on silver or bronze in the first place. I cant imagine its fun dying all the time unless your actually trying to troll and ruin someone elses game. If you can hold your own then move up. Be sensible with what you pick, your class and guns. afterall
a low lvl light gun isnt the best offense for some classes powerz are. so use one of those. If you have a solider with a lvl 1 avenger then everyones going to facepalm just before they vote to kick.
