That's what we call a gamble, there is a 50% chance sales go up for bioware and a 100% guarantee dlc comes into your price range, surprising who comes out the winner there.Da2 is a fantastic game and Imho they should raise the price of legacy and MotA another 5-10 dollars, it's well worth it and more.

Actually, if there's a 100% guarantee that the DLC comes into my price range, there's also a 100% guarantee of a sale (two actually, as I'll also get the game). However, if there's only fifty percent chance they'll sell, then clearly there's also only a fifty percent chance it actually came into my price range. It only makes sense.

Also, I used to buy entire expansion packs for 20 bucks, and these were certainly a lot more substantial than DLC. Half-Life 2 Episode 2 comes to mind.

DLC isn't always a rip-off, and Legacy may just be borderline, but that's at the height of its sales. When the game has gone down in price to ten bucks, it's time to lighten up on the DLC too. As someone already said somewhere, I can buy an entire game for the same money as a two hour adventure. Sometimes more than one.

Also also, we used to have a free SDK. We no longer do, because they can't sell item packs that way...

so what if the game dropped in price, the dlc(aside from the item packs) did significantly well, i suspect because of that they didnt drop the price, nor did Origins dlc(as far as i know)

Thinking about it further, I'd have thought the logical thing to do would be to use sales of the previous games DLC as part of the promotion for the next game.

They have to charge enough to make money off of the dlc, but it does get to me after a while, that with enough dlc, I can spend more on the "extra content" than I paid for the main game.

As long as Bioware don't charge $40 for things like Awakening, which was way over-priced for a rushed and buggy expansion, it doesn't bother me too much.  $5-$10 for standard dlc, while around $20 for an expansion seems about right.
