Mmm... "no more" prequels certainly implies that there have been prequels in the past, which would be why you would not want more in the future. We have not made a prequel to a game (I will admit you can argue that KotOR was a prequel to the MMO, but that was not the intention at the time of making it) for any of our games. Are there prequl games in particular that you dislike that, maybe, you are confusing with our games?

Fans in the past have said they would actually WANT a game that takes place prior to the story of Mass Effect , possibly  centered around teh First Contact War between humand and turians. Would that NOT be something you would want? Or do you mean, you do not want a prequel game if it featured Commander Shepard specifically (like the recent film reboot of Star Trek for example).

Details?

Oh, and we have not confirmed ANY post Mass Effect 3 games, whether they are prequels or not. This is all just speculation at this point.

Why would we want to be told a story of which we already know the ending to. The humans use new relays, the turians open fire on them, the alliance shoots back, the council steps in and stops them both. The End.
If you do anything other than progressing the story further, I am almost 100% certain its going to be a massive failure.

i dont mind when the game is, as long as there is another one! or even another trilogy a bit like halo are doing (dont kill me here people, please)

read AngryFrozenWater's post about directly after ME3 would be post-apocalyptic - i immediately imagined fallout lol

they should make a Prequel. and the main character should be Javik. I think its time to tell Javiks story, now that Shepard's has been told

That I would like and the issue of being tied down wouldn't be as bad since we still know little about the Protheans.

I think what he means is that he does not want you guys to focus primarily on prequels in the Mass Effect universe. And I agree. Most of us already knows what will ultimately happen in the end, we want something farther into the Galaxy's future with new problems and sulotions. Does that clear things up?

even if i know the end- that don`t change anything to me;)
and no more MMO- that genre is suck!

Mass effect NEEDS TO GO FORWARD. Right now it feels like it's in a story deadlock (you know why). What I want is a game similar to dragon age origins with a good story and set 2000+ years in the future so it'll be the same universe but completely different also by origins I mean BE ABLE TO PLAY ANY RACE I WANT. I want to play a salarian wearing a trenchcoat very badly...
EDIT: Also please no mmos... the current multiplayer is actually better than stale mmos i've played.

there would still be the issue though that you know the protheans lose to the reapers and Javik gets frozen in the end though

The only way ME can go is forward, if you plan to start retelling stories, just don't bother at all.

I wouldn't burst into tears or complain much to be honest if made a prequel but I prefer a sequel also I do not like MMOs which could be the sting in the tail if turns out head in that direction I will just have to pass on it. The idea that then next one takes part a thousand years or something from the end of ME3, civilisations being rebuilt, populations increasing and new forms of technology, new cultures rising to power and galactic power itself shifts balance due to casulties of the reaper war. New characters, new protaganist new storyline in the future I would quite enjoy I think. Or ditch ME franchise put it on a shelf for now and make a seedy dark Victorian detective RPG. :D

True but we still know very little about them and their soicety. I do kinda like the idea that it was similar to www.youtube.com/watch

To be honest, if Bioware gets back to the Space Opera type feel of ME1 and ME2. I don't care what time the game is set in. Less auto dialogue, less CoD in space shoot em up that we have now, and more story based interaction, choices, and exploration. Just get back to what made Bioware great in the first place

agreed, we already know everything important that happened since humans first made contact with aliens, so a prequel would just be replaying a story we already know which would be really dull

Everyone who keeps saying this nonsense (imho), does realise most games do this? We know the outcome of WW2 doesnt mean WW2 FPS and Strategy games are not popular as one example... Knowing about it is not the point, being there and taking part is.

I would vastly prefer a sequel, but if we do a prequel, I'd love for it to be in a previous cycle, shedding more light on the Crucible perhaps, or even the Rise of the Reapers.

I hate prequels... ;)

I can't deny that First Contact War wouldn't be interesting but as they say "Strike while the iron is hot"... and ME 3 ended like a good beer... Delicious from the top... Bitter from the bottom... and you always want more!!

Complete and utter bull****. Are you actually comparing ME with trash FPS games?

I think the next ME should be in the distant future. With a protagonist of your choosing. I personally would love to play as a turian :)

You think so? Good for you. A vast amount of games rely on history for their story of which WW2 is one example that I picked, it's playing a part in it and to say thats bull***t just shows how very limited the amount of games you have played is across all genres. I will compare ME with any game I wish depending on what comparison I am making between them whether you like it or not. In this case the comparison is whether prequels vs sequels work and people buy them on all genres of which they very much do on masse.

Or little parts oj the past like Odin sphere. Different stories different characters but there all intertwined. Like over a few hundrednyears starting with geth rebellion and ending with the first game to fill in any gaps while giving more depth. Even playing as a soldier on torfan or fighting batarian slavers or farther back to racni wars and the genopage. Id play the whit out of that one.

I've got a disturbing feeling that at any moment now, BioWare will announce that they've been working on a ME mmo for the last year and a half set during the first contact and will be released ending 2013. That'd be the nail on this coffin for me.

What made your argument bull**** is that WW2 FPS games seldom have story as a major feature and "pull" for fans to play them. The pitch in that type of games is the fps gameplay rather than the story, while the ME franchise is supposed to have been all about the story. Being it so that you were using it as an argument for how knowing the end of a story doesn't affect fan affection, I find his statement on how your argument is bulls**t completely valid.

I don't mind prequels like the First Contact War or the Krogan Rebellion heck it would be interesting playing a species in previous cycles.

I want that. Hopefully with an option to play on either side of the war, and see all the characters who were involved - Saren and his brother, TIM, Anderson, General Williams, etc.
