A more personal story in the wake of the ME3 ragnarok. Anything besides a boring prequel or a stupid MMO.

Agree. I would love a more personal story in the wake of the ME3 ragnarok.

I'd be happy with anything as long as I can play a female. I'm so sick of games where I get forced into playing a big, burly white guy.

I would prefer that any future games in the ME series not be prequels. Movie prequels are problematic because you already know where things will be in the future.

In Mass effect, choice is so important that knowing where things end up undermines any choices you make through the game.

I don't know how many people would be tempted into a prequel, especially given that so many have discontent with the endings. (I wrote an alternate ending if you want to check it out: http://social.biowar.../index/11739343)

Regardless, it will make money so it is a possibility. I know I will get flack for this, but I will say it anyway: I enjoyed Halo Reach more than any other Halo game. I knew what was going to happen the whole time, and yet the story and gameplay made it worth playing anyway. Even when you die at the end after handing off Kortana, you get a chance to kill 1000x brutes and elites and whoever else comes at you. You make this epic last stand and it was so fulfilling...there was still catharsis even though it was sad your character died. Catharsis is all we ask for after investing hundreds of hours in something.

Everyone is asking for different things. The only thing that fans could agree on was that they didn't like the endings.

I wouldn't mind a prequel personally. Don't bother me.

A prequel wouldn't be so bad if it were done right. I would personally love to see a game based on the Krogan Rebellions or the First Contact War.

Hell, I'd even like to see a prequel to Shepard. All of us chose a psychological profile and an origin to our Shepards. I would love to see and play out my ruthless, spacer Shep fighting her fight on Torfan. That would be pretty hard to make considering there would have to be 3 totally different games based on if your Shep whent to Akuze, Elysium, or Torfan.

I just don't want a ****ing MMO. No, please Bioware no. MMOs sucks out the resources and attention out of all gaming franchises. I don't want to wait 10 years for another single-player ME RPG because there's an MMO out there that steals all the resources and attention from EA

If there is going to be a prequel, make it a film, and make it The First Contact War. That would be thoroughly enjoyable.

Prequel wouldn't be so bad. Mostly because we wouldn't have a massive impending doom like the Reapers. So we could focus on smaller stories and exploring the rich universe. With a new engine perhaps? Maybe we could explore the Mass Effect universe in ways we haven't seen before? Space Combat? Huge open terrain but with an engine that does it well? I dunno. Just thinking aloud here but imagine getting to explore all these worlds and learn about all these races and how they came to be in much greater detail before the Reapers ravaged most of it.

Please don't make a mass effect MMO. Please.
I can't promise I would buy any mass effect game after what you did with ME3, but a mmo for a mass effect game feels like really bad taste...

Start another trilogy of offline "guns and conversation" of a similar style is my vote... anything but an mmo though

anything.

I have to agree because I don't like prequels in general. I know some people want to see the first contact war and if that happens then i hope they enjoy it but I'm not interested in that personally.

As long as I knew they were going to rock out a post-Reaper war era Mass Effect game at some stage, a First Contact War game would be sweet... Maybe something like Dust514 so you can play as either Human or Turian... in a persistant battle zone.. ohhhh :happy:

I haven't really read the thread but I have a simple and straight forward question

Does anybody really enjoy prequels? Like at all? More important, is there anybody that would legitimately prefer a prequel to a sequel?

I have no interest in a prequel honestly.  Inferior technology & we would already know the outcome.  Boring

A prequel, no thanks.
I just don't see how a story driven game can be any good, when the major outcome (end of the cycle in case of mass effect) is already known.
It's like reading a book from which you already know the end, it can still be somehow good, but a lot of potential is wasted from the beginning, so it can't be great after all.

I don't care if it's a prequel or a sequel, only that it will continue in the line of ME, and not turn into a shooter thing, or a MMO or something like that.
What is happening with rol games?...
Anyway not going to ramble, just that it stays loyal, faitful (or wathever the english word is) to ME and that can make me enjoy and feel the excitement and happiness I had playing all the 3 ME games. Is to much to ask????

Agree, the familiar ME feel and universe is basically all I want. Preferably 2165 or later as humanity is then somewhat accepted into the galactic community.

A sequel could work, but Bioware might have to railroad much of the ending choice to mean the same with minor variations to get most gameplay time per time spent developing it, which might make people angry over how their last choice mattered little.

Three-four alien options for protagonist and/or less humans in the squad would fit the theme of a united galaxy. (Minor spoilers) Judging by Samara's presence in one of the epilogue slides, the rebuild didn't take that long, so some cameos might be possible.

Fans in the past have said they would actually WANT a game that takes place prior to the story of Mass Effect , possibly  centered around teh First Contact War between humand and turians. Would that NOT be something you would want? Or do you mean, you do not want a prequel game if it featured Commander Shepard specifically (like the recent film reboot of Star Trek for example).

Details?

If it's a third person ARPG like Mass Effect, I want it in the future (prequels limit the amount of choice and consequences we would have). A brand new trilogy set after Mass Effect 3 would be ace.

If you're still serious about looking at a first person game set in the ME universe, then I think the First Contact War would be awesome. I trust Bioware would strive to innovate in that genre, and I would love to see their focus on interesting characters with emotional depth in a FPS. Too many FPS games are just about explosions, dudebros, and linear storylines. A Bioware FPS could be a great thing for the industry.

No prequels please. Prequels in SCI FI are worst things used by franchises that overused their main plot.
Mass Effect is not overused, if anything they have barely used it.
I don't want to play as caveman in prequel, or as some human-like alien species that is gonna be extinct by Reapers anyway.

Problem is that they have made the ending of ME3 somewhat ultimative, which was a mistake
I'm maybe alone in my opinion but they have made the mistake in giving.3(or four) completely differrent endings, they should have followed the win/lose/lose some characters formula.

I would be quite happy with a prequel. Anything in the Mass Effect universe is fine with me, The first contact war, the Rachni wars, go for it.

Please dont let threads full of 'what we want ...' comments make you think that individuals are speaking for us all. They are not.

I doubt they will ever do a ME MMO in the near future. EA will never invest that much money after SWTOR. I don't want prequel of any sort as they tend to be boring as you know most of the story or the event already.
