Because not everyone is monitoring my project page i will showcase in this thread my latest/ and old reforged placeables. Lets start with a set (needs some more texture detail and some self iluminating bacterias or how thats called) cave stalaktiten/-miten... They are modeled from scratch and the polycount is at classic midrange!
- and to retexture them for your own cavetexture set should be easy too.

They are designed to enrich your caves and has about the same heigh as the neverroofers caves. More to come! And i havent forget that cocoon placeable request. They are completed already:) and one with a disturbing animation

Great work, as always! This makes me want to finish my old piercer monsters. Wanted them to 'drop from the cave ceiling', you know. Love it!

Cocoon placeables! Sweet!

Great work, Baba.

Now if we could just combine your caves with Zwerkules Gnome buildings in his caves..... :)

Awesome! You’re refreshing the underground setting one place able at a time! Any chance of a place able sinkhole that players could click on to use as an area transition( i.e. climb down the sink hole). Or what about a chimney place able. I am thinking more along the lines of a rock chimney. I can see some Halfling climbing up that thing. Builders could place it along cave walls as another way to make cave levels more vertical... sinkhole place able goes to cave complex below and chimney goes up.

And a sinkhole/chasm you can actually walk down into as well! (as far as a tileset idea at least, not a placable one per se...)
Mabey something like the one in the bioware cave/mines, possibly with a transition to a rugged chasm-floor sub-area type?

Spleunker grappling equiptment placables would be awesome too.
Either previous explorers left it there, or could be cool a pc-tool...

Oh yeah, and more weird lightshafts!  (not necessarily from above)

an Update! I improved the rock texture and work has began on the spiderhive rocks (to get myself an idea how they will look alike later.... that will be a nasty place wenn finished).

Placeable sinkholes are very cool and i´ll do 2 or 3 of them with a different size and shape. Also a few black smokers (similar to the deepsea hydrothermal vents) with some underdark mushrooms.
Lightshafts will be integrated (use anim node to turn them on/off) into some tiles.

p.s. the models look much better ingame. The image quality here isnt the best you know:)

Edited for the tileset images. Shows the changed mesh/ texturework for the default caveterrain! My goal is to make it possible to easily create a natural maze too.

Would it be possible to create placeable shafts of light like that of the stained glass window effects from this?

This would allow builders to place them inside of the cavern to simulate holes in the ceiling above while players ventured within the depths below. They shift and sparkle and it makes light look really nice.

In this placeable package are Rays of Light, but they do not have the effect like the stained glass windows. I'm not sure if creating the effect from the stained glass windows can be applied to the Rays of Light placeables, but that's the idea I'm suggesting.

One of faint yellow for sunshine and another of blue for moonlight is another suggestion, of various sizes.

Thanks for reading!

FP!

Using a ray of light and the 'firefly' placeable might create the illusion of dancing motes of dust in the light... although a singular solution as suggested would be a far cleaner and probably more attractive alternative.

I loved they way it was done in the first medal of honor game. Maybe i can create something similar. The nwncq guy did some very nice fading lightshafts for a start.
