Join us today, the finest human army in the Galaxy devoted to savong humanity!

Ok seriously, after playing a recent ME2 Renegade play through, seeing how "well" Shepard and TIM got on. What happened to all this in ME3? I mean, Allies and on good speaking terms in the end of ME2, handing over the base. 6 months later, mortal enemies?

Where was our option to rejoin Cerberus at some point to fight the Reapers? My Renegade Shepard would of loved to put humanity first in ME3 and do it Cerberus's way.

You know, we get to Cerb HQ, have a long chat with TIM, who explains his plan to us "ally", Shepard decides, "Yeah you know what, lets try it your way!" Turning our back on the Alliance, getting a different final mission and ending?

Unfortunately, such a thing is probably never going to happen.  If Deus Ex made it so you could stay with Unactco...

TIM has Kai Leng. He doesn't need Shepard.

edit: I think two storylines where Shepard joins Cerberus or Alliance would make ME3 a better game

Yeah I agree, there should have been an "I hate the Alliance and I love Cerberus" option. But there wasn't.

Shepard was merely a tool. Once his/her purpose was done with, he cast him/her aside and set his own plans in motion.

To sum up, the Illusive man played Shepard like a fiddle, but it ended up in Shepards favor. (Getting the Normandy, the crew defecting, etc.)

TIM was just using Shepard, he no longer has need of that tool

At the end of ME2, I believe that Shepard said something to the effect of, "You work for me now, I'm not playing your games any more". So the control-freak TIM would not like that. Plus, Shep went straight back to the Alliance with his ship, and no doubt gave away everything that he/she knew about Cerberus.

TIM may of been using Shepard yes, but they were/could still be on good terms by the end of ME2, and there is no reason why TIM wouldn't still have need for Shepard still in ME3.

All he wanted Shepard for was to aquire the Reaper tech from the Collector base. With that done, the Illusive man had no need for a... Loose end.

Depends on your options etc, my renegade Shep gave the base away and the ending chat, was them both talking as "equals" and using the tech to combat the Reapers and protect humanity, neither attempted to uppl rank/status over the over. Parted on good terms.

I don't care how Renegade your Shepard is, I imagine he'd turn his back on Cerberus the second TIM tells him, "OK, now I want to put this Reaper tech into your brain and the brains of my followers. I'm sure absolutely nothing will go wrong."

Shepard: "We have to stop the Reapers. What ever the cost."

The choice would of been nice, we would of got at least a very different ending. Your choice would of mattered.

(Plus I'd rather listen to TIM then the Starbrat)

So, let me get this correct: you want to work for a bunch of inept monkeys who couldn't feasibly screw a light bulb into the proper socket without killing 80+ of the bulb-screwing project's staff?

Excellent judgment you've got there, bud.

even if they were on good terms at the end of ME2. turning in the most powerful ship your organisation ever designed to the Military when your organisation is a terrorist group does not foster friendship.

Cerberus got royally screwed in ME3, from Rouge black ops gone awry, to TIM chess master of a network of spies, councilors, assassins, and generals under the banner of Cerberus pro-human terrorists, to I R EVILZ!

For seeing Shepard as nothing more than a tool, The Illusive Man seems to crave Shepard's understanding and approval. Like at the end when he says that he needs Shepard to understand.

Kai Leng also seems to regard Shepard as having betrayed T.I.M., not the other way around. If Shepard saw eye-to-eye with T.I.M, then perhaps he would have remained useful.

but remember what TIM said on Mars "Shepard, just like all the relics in this place, your time is over"

Hit the nail on the head. Yes I do, and hopefully having a similar experience to that.

Not all our choices have to be good ones.

I miss the days of KoToR... Turning on your team and rejoining the Dark Side with Bastila, perfect example of a choice that gives a very different ending.

It would have been great, but you know, your choices (do not) matter.

there is a diffrence between a seperate choice and another game entirely. If they had made it so you could join Cerberus, it would change every mission, every quest. therefore it would take another game entirely. what do you want? Mass Effect 3: Cerberus edition?
