In Mass Effect 2, Miranda says her father used his Y Chromosome to create her.

As we know, females only have X Chromosomes, while males have both X and Y, which is exclusive to males.

So while Miranda may be sexy and seductive, doesn't this mean that genetically, she's a man despite the girly elements of her? lol

I figured this might make an interesting topic.

XD I'm a girl so I really have no problem with her having a Y chromosome I would still very much tap it.

I'm sorry I just lol'd when I read this title, Miranda fans ain't gonna like this. But in answer to your question, she's a woman but a cloned woman from her dad and because of this she can't have kids. The father determines the sex of the child anyway because they carry both the X and Y chromosome that determines the gender.

LOL! I am a Miranda fan, but it made me laugh.
But, he took his X Chromosone and took the Y Chromosone from various sources he saw fit and that is how the perfect Miss Lawson was created.

Wrong, I just replayed the scene. She said he used HIS Y chromosome. And no mention of his X. The other parts of her from various sources could have meant her appearance(since she's feminine and not having a 5pm shadow like her old man.)

Also I'm a Miranda fan too. She's my favorite romance. I figured this would mess with a few peoples' heads.

It's the opposite. Y is only for females.

EDIT: Oh wait. Checked the wiki. It's not.

:?

Not according to wikipedia.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Y_chromosome

First paragraph. "DNA in the Y chromosome is passed from father to son"

Well technically wouldn't he need a second X chromosome from another human being to create a real genetic female? So unless he had a doner ...

It's not impossible for someone with XY chromosomes to look completely like a woman, it happens naturally actually and it's called androgen insensitivity syndrome.

Btw gender genetics 101

XX= Female
XY= Male

Miranda was created using a Y chromosome. So she's a man.

Unless women can be YY.

No one can be YY

...

-.-

Btw I never said she wasn't or man nor did I say she wasn't a woman.  But if she is XY chromosomed then genetically (which I do think is the case since she is a clone of her father) she is a man scientifically speaking but cuturally speaking she identifies and looks like a woman so she is a woman from a cutural perspective rather then a scientific one.

Yeah I know that. But if you hadn't noticed, this threat was created for lols. Mainly my lols towards people would freak out over it. If a person thought the right way, Miranda would be the same as a post-op. :P

So you got me curious as to what she actually said, so I hunted for the video. LOL
She says MOST of her genetics are based from her father, so there was someone else he used. Which since Miranda is a chick, I am assuming he took the girls x chromosone.

Yeah but any use of the Y chromosome from the father makes her a male.

Of course by the year 2185 people would be culturally progressed to the point where that doesn't mean anything. But its still the early 21st century here and I can enjoy messing with fanboys' heads.

I don't know, all this science stuff is giving me a headache. Why don't we just get the scissors out and be done with it? LOL

Yeah I noticed but I never thought about it so I actually felt like really talking about it and giving a real opinion about it. And no it is not the same as post-op, or at least it shouldn't be considered the same.

Not that I'm an expert on genetic engineering, but it is possible that 200 years from now they would have a way to convert a Y chromosome into an X Chromosome.

Javik can read genetic biomarkers and detected Miranda as a female without ever actually seeing her.

Well if she is a man, she hides it well. Hell, she even has a ******. I didn't think we could get those right there.

Well, gender is a spectrum not a binary Image IPB

But what she says is that her father's Y chromosome was altered with DNA from various sources, including a variety of desirable traits. So, we can infer that she has two X chromosomes, the second being the artificially constructed one.

This is not a new topic.

pfff...

"His Y chromosome was altered with an amalgam of desired traits from various sources."

The Y chromosome from her father was changed to an X chromosome from other womens. Put some attention next time. It didn't say that the Y chromosome remained unaltered.

No, she isn't.

Pay attention when she tells you how she was created.
