It would be sweet to add a teammate health/shield indicator to the UI. Work just like the indicator in SP.
Thoughts?

This is a game where a flank by just one marauder on gold can wipe the whole team in moments - not sure how knowing someone else's health could help.

Yes. I want this so badly. My only concern is would it make it to easy? As long as your squad stays close together it's not really needed.
I don't know if it would make it easier, but it would be sweet if only for people who work as a team and want to support each other. I know there are some great team-players out there who don't use mics. I'd like to be able to at least know they're status if they're out of sight. Sometimes people just get in bad situations.
I enjoy hunter mode because of this. Having full situational awareness is the most powerful thing you could have. Not only for you, but for your team. If I KNOW someone is about to step into a firestorm it's nice to follow them in or support them if they are being hammered.

I'm not really sure how useful it would be in this game. The only class that really needs to worry about the shields of other players is the geth engineer specced for healing, and you can simply deploy your turret near anyone who says "Lost shields!" when they take enough damage.

Let me ask you this, would it hurt the game at all? Even if it is an info-only thing, it helps encourage team-play. 'Our Krogan is off smashing faces...his shields are gone. I should go help him.'
The 'lost shields' thing gets lost in a fight. And if you have 2 of the same class, you don't know who it is. Not that you can actively help them anyway...

I agree with those points you're making. I don't use mics either. Depending on the situation if some wants to play hero let them get killed. Something that I've started recently is have two people go one way and two go another, this way you can heal and cover fire.

It would be nice but in sp it took the place of where the powers are showed in mp. And you dnt want to clutter up the screen anymore so where would you put them. I like the idea just don't see how to implement it. You can't pause to use powers and some people may use the power icons for their cool downs and not the circle by the crosshairs ( tv size to small, not HD ect ). That's just me but I do like this idea
I was thinking about that as well. Not much screen space, but I think there could be a solution to it. I personally wouldn't mind sacrificing/minimizing the kill indicator for this.

colors, so doing a green to red shift on two shaped indicators with a
portait and tag would work. The ones in the pic aren't massive...

I would like to see a medic class sentiel with maybe some kind of tech scan for teammate. Maybe even give a small health buff with it.
Yes. This.
I'd totally give up the ability to shoot if I could take control of the Justicar's bubble and direct it's strongest point and location....
Maybe have the skill tree split between damage protection and healing.

I think it's a neat idea but I'd be happy with something as basic as a visual representation of the countdown animation when a squadmate is down. That way I can see how much time I have left and if I can clear x many enemies or need to run in quickly for a fast revive. (You know, that "press x button" when you're down screen.)
I'd love it if they added at least that.
I guess we'll have to settle for having to...TALK to each other. Quite a terrible prospect in a game with randoms.
I had a kid last night yelling at his mom about the car she was getting. He went AFK to look the car up mid-mission. No joke. I started my own party just to not hear him screaming about how he would be driving it and that she was smoking crack. Nothing as jarring as a team being quiet the entire mission and suddenly blowing up your speakers with yelling halfway through.
Lovely.
