Really annoy me....The Black Pearl?  Feldspar Ring?  22 Corpse Galls (Already turned in 18)  Tattered Note?  And many, many more.  I wish they disappeared after their purpose was served.

I don't believe they take up inventory slots, so I wouldn't let it bug me too much.

I got like five plot items during the City elf origin.. none of which appears to have been used.

22 corpse galls after you turned in 18? The drop rate must be random, because on my last playthrough I got 17 total before the landsmeet -_-. Yeah, that wasn't very nice.

They do not take up inventory slots and do not appear in the "All" category. You can only see them in the quest item tab. (At least, this is how it is on PC.) Keep in mind that it is possible to bypass using a quest item in a few situations.

I would rather the game leave them than have some bug delete a quest item prematurely. Still, maybe this can be a feature in the next installment of Dragon Age.

What do you do with the Pouch of Ashes?

EDIT: Pouch of Ashes is an item you get early in the game, along with a codex entry, I do not mean the Pinch of Ashes from the Urn.

You sprinkle them over a pile of rocks (in Kocari Wilds) to summon a demon.

There are some rocks in the Kocari Wilds that you spread them on to summon and fight a demon. You should have got a codex entry at the same time you got the pouch.

The pouch of ashes is part of a sidequest you can do in the Korcari Wilds. There's a spot where you an sprinkle the ashes which summons a revenant for you to fight. Once you leave the Wilds, however, you can't go back so the quest can't be completed.

The starball bugs me. It would seem like the perfect gift for Loghain (it's just like a map! But it's stars!). But it isn't. Nobody really wants the thing.

Not quest items, but has any one found a use for the wolf and werewolf pelts? I mean other than just saleing them.

You can give a wolf pelt to Cammen, I believe.

the pouch is when your in the kokari wilds, theres a pile of rocks that if you spread the ashes on, itll summon a shade. Its on a hill right before you reach the incline to the warden tower where the treaties are.

and about the map gift, loghain likes maps.

Someone mentioned that if you keep the pouch of ashes then you can use it to fool Korgrim at the Urn of Sacred Ashes.

Haven't verified however.

The black pearl along with the candle-lighting taper can be used to light a brazier in the temple. Now I just need to figure out what lighting the brazier actually does.

I lighted it once and it did absolutely nothing.

It unlocks the big doors.

One time, I went through those doors without lighting the brazier. I thought it was required, too, but something else must cause it to unlock.

like others said the prime purpose is to sprinkle the ashes over some rocks ... you might have missed the quest though.
you can also use it as "replacement" in some of the ashes from the urn dialogue options ... if you like fooling npcs :P

You can poison the drinks of the three guards that are playing cards, right outside the kitchen, if you play as a male.  It'll be a dialogue option, if you have it and the brandy in your invenotry.
