To the people of bioware, I personally want to say keep up the good work. I was ok with te ending and love the multiplayer, and just have a lot of respect for a company that took so much crap from the public and instead of just saying forget you all decided to try to make something others would enjoy to and add all this free stuff (vorcha in mp is sweet). So please keep it up and don't let the flamers get to you all

It seems to me that playing multiplayer is the same as telling Bioware that you are happy with ME3...

For those of you that weren't happy with the way ME3 turned out, aren't you kind of sending the wrong message to bioware?

Edit:
maybe I am not being clear, don't you realize that by playing multiplayer you are telling bioware they did a good job, when they obviously didn't?

I'm sorry if I have a brain, I didn't mean to, I born with it. Having a brain, I can think by myself, I can analize something, not by the last ten minutes, but by everything that was done

- Bioware did a good job with the MP. There's problems, sure, but it's fun, it's addictive, it's something I wanted since ME1: A way to play ME combat whatever I want, without the need to start a new playthrough, better than what I was looking for, I can do it with friends!!

- Bioware did a good job closing the most important arcs of the trilogy before the very end, being the genophage arc the best by far.

- Bioware did a good job trying to do something different. They lacked some corage in the last round, but when was the last time that you saw a trilogy where you played the third game with the same char you started in the first one? They didn't reach all the expectation they created in the public, but it can be called inovation, it can be called something fresh, a bold project.

I can go on and on. They did a amazing Citadel in ME3, they made Normandy even more interesting, bringing interaction between the squad, they made a better combat system, better enemies, bring more personalization.
Mosty important of all, They made a emotional game, I never cared so much about a universe and about characters of a game. I cried a lot, I laugh, I felt for every single character, even Jacob. That's one of the reason the the mediocre end had all this impact. We cared, we cared a lot, and we felt. They did it, they build it before the crap 10 minutes, so yeah Bioware, your game was amazing.

I will keep playing the MP, I will play the extended cut, the DLCs, and I will be there for a ME4. Hope they keep what is good, and learn where they failed.

The MP is fun with a nice sense of progression with all the unlocks and new free DLC. I honestly never expected to enjoy it this much. I can't imagine playing it once Borderlands 2 comes out but I expect to play it most of the summer.

I play because I enjoy it, or I wouldn't play. Simple, it isn't?

I play multiplayer because I paid for it. Why buy a game and not play all of its modes? Waste of money.

playing mutliplayer and playing single player are two different things, and at least with mulitplayer you get a happy ending.

I play it because its fun and challenging and I get to meet other people that enjoy the shootem up stuff and the Mass Effect games.

I disagree that by playing MP I am sending a message to Bioware/EA that condones my like of the SP ending. I have not touched the SP since I played it through the first time. I believe they track that information and as such can tell from my playing where I spend my time.

As someone else already pointed out, MP was done by a different teams. They did a great job on the MP and continue to do so. Now, if they could sort out the SP, I'd play that again too, just like I had wanted too in the first place and until they do sort it out, I won't play that part of the ME franchise.

I played the MP when they released the demo for it. It was 48hours of insanity for neither my friends nor I could stop playing it, even with that few weapons, 2 maps, and 1 enemy type. Naturally, months after release our enthusiasm died down quite substantially because the gameplay was pretty static. We still do play it from time though.

I absolutely dislike what they did to the SP endings, but the MP is a fine piece of work (2 free DLCs! Sweet!). That saying, I really do hope they continue to expand on the MP, maybe adding more rpg elements to it. For DLCs like those, I won't mind paying.

I play it because it's fun. It wasn't the game I thought I was buying. THAT game had serious flaws (and not just the notorious ending). But multiplayer is my consolation prize, so I might as well enjoy it.

The metrics of the game are, I expect, quite capable of telling when people are playing MP vs. SP. I am not happy with the SP campaign, MP is my way of getting my money's worth from the game.

And, to be more specific, I play the MP because it's fun, which, after various issues, the SP is not, to me.

I hated the ending, took me about a month to even consider MP but I decided to try it and got hooked. I don't play MP anything, I'm all about the single player experience, don't like dealing with swearing 15 year olds but this has been fun, I like the cooperative aspects. For me the MP experience has balanced out what was a terrible SP experience for me and allowed me to get my moneys worth out of the game. I don't play games to send a mesage, I play games to have fun.

apparently multiplayer attracts people who are incapable of answering simple questions...

No, people are answering the question, you simply seem to be incapable of understanding their answers. You asked, why do people play multiplayer. My and many others answer is that the game is fun, period. It's fun to run around and kill stuff. One thing Bioware did right with ME3 (in my opinion) is that the basic gameplay is much more fun. Each ME game has had better gameplay than the last.

Just because I'm not happy with the way it turned out, doesn't mean it's a BAD game, it just isn't as good as I think it should and can still be. If a game is fun I'm going to play it, I mean come on, that is the entire point of video games. Once you start playing for other reasons, you've lost your way as a gamer.

Oh, and I don't mean that playing games for the story is bad, that is fun in its own way. In fact, great stories are part of why I play video games myself.

" I am asking about why people who are unhappy with bioware choose to play MULTIPLAYER"

I think you just answered your own question.

The fact that a lot of us are spending more time in MP than in SP is a message clearly sent.

On the other hand, I, like many others have said, play for the fun; it's still ME and we don't have to deal with the ending, plot holes, etc.

What I don't agree with, however, is the fact that to get the "better ending" (as if any of them was good)  you have to play MP to get the maximum EMS possible. That, in my opinion, is an utter lack of respect to people like you who don't want to play MP.

Finally I must confess that in the beginnig I hated the idea of multiplayer but once I tried it and had the oportunity to play with people fom all over the world (I'm from Venezuela myself) and saw and learned from their playstyles I really became adicted to it, so much that I can't wait so say "bring it on" to the next operation

They did do a good job.  You want to think differently, knock yourself out, but that's your problem and not mine.  You ending fanatics already pollute the single player subforum to the point where practically every damned thread is about the ending and issues you have with it.  Please don't do the same to the MP subforum.

But to answer the initial question  you asked before you edited the opening post to show your true colors...
I initially started playing MP because I felt I had to for the SP side and I kind of resented that I admit, but I've since come to love playing MP.  They did such a fantastic job they managed to make a multiplayer game that someone who hates multiplayer games actually enjoys it.   A lot.

I play because its fun to me. I don't play many online multiplayer games. I just don't. I was hesitant to play ME3 Multiplayer when it came out, but then tried it and liked it. I don't know what multiplayer game *should* be, but I honestly play this game because it's an extension of Mass Effect single-player.... which I enjoy.

BW did do a good job with MP. This game wasn't marketed for the MP, so consider it a bonus. For a bonus it is pretty damn nice. None of us bought this game for the MP and none of us have yet to pay for any DLC, so I fail to why you are complaining about something you got for free??

It has it's problems, but so do all games. It is playable, it is fun, and it doesn't have all the BS that PvP has.

Extremely well said. I wouldn't change a thing you said in answering the OP, except that some people have bought it only for the MP. I didn't, but some did.

Good that OP got banned. Good that the thread is still on. It's a hell of a divide point between people who come from all sides of the discussion.

I personally hated the ending, but the rest of the game was awesome, and so is the MP. I'm also really loving the fact that BioWare didn't just release the MP as a project and that they really work to improve it.

I can only wait for what the newt Mass Effect will bring in terms of Co-Op Multiplayer. Maybe some PvP?(Yeah, right)

Hey on the protest day I didn't sign in. Not only that day but for weeks...

So... No I don't like the ending but most of the game was ok to good. Multiplayer is fun and set in the me universe. It's not as polished as what valve puts out but I think it's pretty darn fun.

Man, I just wiped on wave 9 on Condor/Geth/Gold. With people who knew what they were doing and didn't try camping the pipe or do anything stupid. It was just StunLock City all up in there.

And I'd do it again in a heartbeat because it was fun. FUUUN!
