* Just a thought; I hope the next weekend event takes into account the lessened player base as far as objective goals. The percentage of banned active players may not be that significant but then I don't know what all the numbers are. Nothing against the bans, just throwin' this out there.

I've argued "how" it hurts the other players before, so there is no need to repeat that. I'm just glad that the hard work I put towards unlocks are being rewarded more than illegit players who will find anyway they can to find the path of least resistance.

Personally, I'm glad for the bans. Illegitimate gains hurt not only the company, but the other players.

Exactly, and this kind of stuff is what really throws the game out of "balance" I am very happy to see Bioware doing something about it, cheating is cheating, period, anyone arguing semantics is just being silly. Just cause you can, doesn't mean you should.

Seeing as i've personally seen someone with a Harrier X on XBL, the possibility of someone having spent a lot of credits and real money into MP isn't surprising.Siran wrote...

How you ask?
The people banned were using a glitch to rapidly amass credits so that they could buy items at a pace well beyond what anyone else could without spending real money. Bioware's only real incentive to keep providing new free DLC is that people who can't wait to get all the new items will spend real money to get them faster. If Bioware doesn't punish people who continue to find ways to use glitches to accrue credits then they risk more people using the glitches to bypass the real money store.
Yes, they need to do more to anticipate and fix the glitches prior to them reaching this point, but it is a thankless job that never ends. For example, a auto-aim hack was recently released for ME3 MP. Once they fix the hack, it will be replaced by another. You still have to ban the people that used it in the meantime.

Sure people may argue that the credit glitch doesn't directly affect me so why should I care ... and honestly I don't ... but that affects EAWare's bottom line so its obvious that they will ban them.
The Rocket Glitch though ... it is ABSOLUTELY NO FUN playing with someone who is doing that glitch ... and I could care less that I don't get to play with those people because they are banned.

BW internal meeting yesterday:
"Would you believe people are STILL using the host disconnect glitch!?"
"They're fools, we should ban them."
"Didn't we fix that in the patch?"
"Looks like it didn't work, and banning them's easier than fixing the problem in the first place anyway"
Fix'd.
Probably is, and effective it would seem.
If by 'effective' you mean 'stops people from playing', then yes, it's absolutely effective.
It also happens to be determental to the community, but that's beside the point, right? What matters is that those 2000 anonymous cheaters, whom we know absolutely nothing about, will never again darken our halls with whatever non-descript villainy they commited to earn those bans.
Hurray for fewer players! Soon we'll know one another by name! =D
This, this and this!

It was possible on the XBox as well - don't know about PS3.
So that means they've banned close to 2000 players now. I wonder how many people are still playing at this point.
They've sold >2 million copies. They've banned about 0.1% of possible players.
0.1% of all the total players, yeah. We don't know how many players still play, or how many of the ones they banned were current. Like I said in my second post, they were anonymous, and all we know is that we won't see them again. :
For all we know , we never saw them in the first place.

I had to find a way to stop and ban players that would use known cheat, my servers at the time were all top of the line and overclocked (still are but newer) and had the power to scan network data and save the scripts coming from clients, if the scripts did not match the main map server file, that client was black marked for us to check over and then banned off all our servers.
I had 1000 bans after a year and 90% of the server trade as no one else could keep the cheaters off thier servers, and when you own most the servers that means the cheater cant cheat on other servers and you get more clients.
Did it impact the community? Nope, cheaters never stick to one game long enough so when you ban them you dont see that much of a change in numbers, you just make the players that are staying more likely to stay longer

It could happen. The person might have just used one character class and ONLY that character class and never promoted.

Go ahead, ban everyone, we'll just go find another game to play after you completely destroy the community
Are you also sad about criminals going to jail because sending them to jail will ruin your neighborhood community?

that hexx guy had 20k+ an hour ago and he was just removed from PC, this is good, we had talked about him last week and and there was no way he could get those points, I play 3 hours a day more on week ends, and if you quadrupled that I would still only have 12K, some have more but then I started 3 weeks late, I doubt anyone has played 12 hours a day since day one.death_for_sale wrote...

Even if some one dropped $500 on PSP (I dropped $200 in 3-4 months no biggie) and used thier PSP properly they could still not hit 20k
now the guys with 8-15k
