The PC vs. Console thing is a legit difference, though. There are different aiming mechanics between the two, so regardless of which you think it easier, they can't be compared directly.

That being said, consoles4life, yo! Console pride FTW!

The reason the PC guys probably dont have this time is because they probably dont like using krysaes even on speedruns. XBOX community worships the krysae one in every game i join. GJ guys
this speedrun says alot about the class and weapons used.

It says even more about their skill level.

Pc krysae run. It's old, but it's still a krysae run.

Brace yourselves, the war between PCers and Consolers is coming.

I don't think a speedrun using the most nobraining combo in the game, aka infiltrator (Geth and Male quarian especially, arc grenade) and krysae is the best way to show your "skill", as fast as it is.

Anyway, still, good way to farm Glacier.

Did a biotic speed run with 4 Pheonix Vanguards and Smashed our way through the game in close to 9 minutes.
4 x Pheonix or 4x Infiltrators so far seem to be the best setups for Glacier speedruns.

4 Vanguards.  No surprise.

Anyone still willing to say that Vanguards aren't OP???

Anyone??

Just so you know, as I'm sure many are aware here: the PC riff I posted in the OP was meant in friendly jest. Not out of spite or anything, just if any PC players are interested, there's now a new time to beat.

But there are supposedly some differences in the AI so as to make them "equivalent" with regards to difficulty, at least from Bioware's perspective.  At least that is the theory.  I wonder what specifically is different.

Is a speed run entirely a "proper gold" match? Why do you think that speed runs are commendable? Basically, what you need to know is where are spawning points, accordingly with your teammate position - and, of course, a team that want to do a speed run; the main ability you can display is that of a planner, who camp in right places and shoot fish in a barrel, fastly. In certain maps one of the teammates has nothing else to do but stand in one spot only to prevent a spawn that could flank the rest of the team. It's interesting that the same strategy - camping carefully and clearing enemies in large groups - receives such a blame when applied to the infamous FBW versus Geth; quickness is of course more valuable that defensive gameplay, but I think that it's the nature of the player that decides if something is a cheap exploit or not.
What makes a game easier for an average player is to blame for some obscure reasons (where are all the "running and gunning" fans, that never miss the chance to despise FBW players and to teach them that they should play offensively because the fun of it - and they would certainly do so, if they were "proper gold players" instead of cheap "FBW farmers"?), while what makes the game easier for good players, that is to say, what requires some previous knowledge, is by no means an exploit (I remember the rage that followed an acceptable and reasonable question like "is cancel reload an exploit"?), for whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
Personally, I always take advantage of my knowledge of spawning points, and that makes me feel I'm a good player, but when it comes to evaluate such a methodical planning attitude, such an engineering diligence, I'm unsure whether this style really deserves a "hail of fame", as in Grimy Bunyip's thread, or even a simple commendation.

To those calling fake, although there aren't many of them: I played with these guys a couple times over the last week. First of all, they are legit, second of all, they are good. Whenever I play with them I pretty much slow them down, and I am an average player.

you guys did great. doesn't matter what kind of build you used.

if anyone really wants to talk down on this run, then why don't you go do the same thing and beat this time to prove that it doesn't mean anything. otherwise, just chill out and congratulate this team.

Sorry for going off-topic again just wanted to say my 2 cents on the talon thing.

I really dislike the way IAMREALITY is so blunt and corrosive in a lot of threads but just wow Talon went way too far.

Yeah lets not even dignify the previous garbage in this thread with any further response. It was uncalled for and was dealt with.

Back on topic would like to see definitive info on
differences on PC and Xbox with respect to enemy health and A.I. On the notion
of auto aim being a great advantage, not buying it (zooming in on a swarmer is
never a good thing!) I wish you could turn off auto aim. I would trade any
advantage we may have on the box for a quick reliable medigel reload cancel for
every race/class. I've also been told PC controls for shooters with a mouse and
keyboard are vastly superior overall but haven't played a PC shooter in years.
Anyways the rivalry is all in good fun. You PC guys are top-notch players and
bring alot to the community as a whole. Trying to get a Vorcha/Goddess/Reaper
speed run accomplished with much less success.

speed run = you use the best equipment available for the best times, unless you are doing one with specific gear/class. thus, the crying about 'you used x, of course you did that' is really stupid. i challenge any four of you complaining to use the exact same setup as us and get near our time.

i promise that, unless you are already good players, you won't.

I don't know why people get impressed by people pounding spawns on glacier and maybe shaving off another minute or two over just a PUG and hoping you get lucky in the missions. The solo runs around twenty minutes are on a completely different level in my opinion.

The difference between 10 minutes and 12 is going to be what missions you end up with, and the difference between 12 and 15 is if you have coordination, which obviously you do, but the only thing that is impressive about watching the video is the time itself.

can you do it at this speed? have you done it this quickly? do you know the spawns and how to control them to this level?

no?

then you don't get to make such a judgment on it. you are certainly entitled to your opinion, but you can't make a dismissal based on a statement that essentially equates to 'this isn't that hard' when you can't do it. same goes for the rest of you. if it's so easy, do it.

The difference between a speed run, and FBWGG is that in order to do a successful speed run, you need to know how to control spawns, which enemies spawn where, when to use cobra missiles and which rounds spawn two or more bosses. In FBWGG lobbies, players don't "clear enemies in large groups", they sit behind a counter and spam one button for 30 minutes. You really don't need to know anything except to keep the SE decoy up, and press the grab button when something gets close. The strategies themselves are not even remotely similar.

They are both similar in that they are stupidly easy, but an unskilled player can complete a FBWGG game. However when I get stuck with unskilled players in Glacier/Gold lobbies they're the ones who block spawns, and drag the game out 5-6 minutes longer than it should have been.
