I only do it on Gold. And I never just run up and die. I just don't rage myself into a coma if I die after wave ten, then take my creds and start the next round.

I play Gold with level 20 characters anyway. I don't need the XP, and neither does anyone I play with.

For some reason, when I'm farming, I've picked up the habit of firing a missile to clear the area around the 30 second mark, then bolting for the LZ. I don't know why, but usually my squaddies consider this as a sign to get the hell out of Dodge as well.

I guess it is pretty useless.

If everyone's lvl20 and no one needs the experience, I don't see the problem. What's the point of wasting 3-5 more minutes just to extract?

Time is REAL money and you never get it back. Why complain about people who don't want to WASTE time?

No reason to waste a consumable after wave 10 task is done you'd still get the credits.. Bioware should give credit Incentives for full exctraction, partial extraction/lone survivor (only for surviving members)...

I don't purposefully get myself killed unless the whole team is in agreement, but I won't waste medigel trying to do the remainder solo if the rest of the team is already out.

The worst is having you in the team...oh, seems like Xbox - one positive.

To the topic itself:

Do people play some other MP games where you gain nothing, just progress towards "finish"?
I mean, for example Left 4 dead, where the goal is to survive and get "extraction"? No credits, no buying things
to get better weapons and gear? Just having a lot of fun by playing?

The goal here is Full extraction (having fun and playing your best to achieve it)!!!

Of coarse I want credits for buying better things, but that comes along, and it isn't so important to me not
fighting 1,25 waves to extract.

In private games I don't care if you all die on purpose, but in my game hell not.
I saw idiots who go down 30sec left, away from LZ, I rush to them to revive and they don't even
press button to prolong life and die as I get to them - as if using one fking medigel would ruin their
poor lives filled with hunting game credits.
This is the reason (and not the only one) why all the credits shouldn't be gained by wave 10 objective.
Getting extra credits from Bioware? Not likely - so for the 75K max for gold match:
 
W10obj completed: 60K maximum (considering quick completion of objective rounds)
Sole survivor: + 2 500
2: +5 000
3: +10 000
Full extraction: + 15 000

If the team is bad - that's the time to use them.
If the team is good - you probably won't need to use any or maybe 1 or 2 occasionally.

I wish I encountered more people who did this on gold! Since gold is typically played by high level players (I often see people get kicked on XBox for being below level 15 or so), the experience points are pretty worthless. The points are also worthless considering the prevalence of character cards. The only incentive for playing (outside of fun-factor, if there's any of that left) is to earn credits, and the most efficient way to get those credits is to die immediately after wave 10.

Note that this doesn't apply to Bronze and Silver, which I think of as training grounds to get your character to a level where you can be useful in a gold match. You want to make extraction if you're leveling up a low-level character character on these difficulties, though the amount of experience you get from extraction isn't game-changing.

They could allways add realism mode where if your character doesn't extract it dies permanently.

However since this wouldn't matter much (you can allways make a new char) it should remove the guns and mods that the character carried.

This is why credit rewards should be lowered if extraction fails.
That way, even those who want the credits and nothing more still need to play it out to the end.

I would consider doing this if I still cared about rockets and medigels (those character cards), but since I only buy jumbo equipment packs these days, I'll fire all ze missiles on extraction just for fun.

yup this above, since on gold I normally dont need wave 11 for the exp just the credits from wave 10.

This happens sometimes and is sad or a waste at least.

Why are you buying Spectre packs for gear? You get gold gear also from Veteran packs with just as many equipment spots as Spectre packs.

You don't, that is the point.

Like I said, for the same money you get 5 Gold Cards in Spectre packs compared to 6 in Premium.

If you're farming and there is no incentive to keep from wiping out, why would you play an extra 3 minutes? Also it would be interesting to see if experience points are truly reduced over the long run IE as many speed runs in a full hour with full extraction versus as many speed runs to objective completion on wave ten then immediately dieing.

Like most I dont try to die but if I do Im not going to use medigel.

I did have a game a week or so ago that 2 players were being very annoying and after the wave 10 objective went and hugged banshees. I played out wave 10 just to spite them for all their yelling in the mic. At the start of wave 11 they died right away and then hurled obscenities at me and the other guy for playing to extraction. I did use medigel twice in that process just to annoy those guys.

I always end it after getting the credits on wave 10, that extra 5 minutes or so could be spent starting another gold game.

A wave 10 wipe makes wave 10 credits a consolation prize. You shouldn't feel like you've succeeded when you don't extract.

Sounds good in theory, but it would probably cause just as much drama (if not more) than the current situation does. What would people be more likely to do: (1) Work their butts off, spending consumables, saving people by using rockets etc. or (2) Still half-ass it, but rage against and kick that poor guy who got magnet grabbed and cost the team the full extraction bonus (doubt they'd care he didn't get any credits at all). Conversely, players who know they tend to die in wave 11 may still choose to sabotage the game by bleeding out in wave 10, since they don't expect to gain any more credits anyway.

I'm more open to it if the idea is that the credit bonus is exactly the same for the whole team, regardless of type of extraction. I'm also open to taking some credits from wave 10 and give as extraction bonus (any type of extraction).

Though since part of the problem is that people are stingy with consumables, a more interesting idea might be to award an equipment pack after you extract X number of times AND actually use consumables in those games (so it's a personal reward, not one for the whole team, letting you get back some of the consumables you used to help the team). This would preferrably be in addition to getting some credits for extraction.
