Hello all,

I was wondering how well this shotgun works with Incendiary ammo?  I understand its probably not as good as an assault rifle or smg with a high rate of fire to abuse the explosive evolution?  But with its higher rate of fire and each Pellet having a chance to explode does the damage end up higher than the others?

The Scimitar doesn't fire slugs. I believe the Crusader is the only shotgun that fires slugs.
Incendiary ammo with the explosive evolution is awesome on shotguns since each pellet has a chance of exploding. You can have multiple explosions with each shot.
But go with the Disciple. It's lighter and stronger. The only edge the Scimitar has is a larger clip, but you shouldn't need more than a few shots anyway.

Depends on number of pellets. Crusader is obviously worst in this aspect - 1 slug. GPS seems to be second, 3 "projectiles" (but it's pretty powerful on it's own). Graal (and Talon, though it's pistol) has 6 projectiles. Other shotguns got 8.

I posted table of IEA efficiency on weapons in "best sniper rifle" thread, though based on pre-1.03 results, I doubt they changed things dramatically there.

Oops sorry, I meant to say each pellet rather than each slug.

OK, so the rate of fire isn't high enough on the Scimitar to really cause much of a difference? I do love the Disciple Shotgun (Shotgun Infiltrator) but don't see how the Disciple is much better doesn't it only have 4 pellets, doesn't this make the explosive burst less effective?

Disciple has 4 pellets? You sure about that? 4 shots "in magazine", yes, but IIRC there are 8 pellets in each shot.

I was reading the Wikia, and I personally thought there were only 3 but I thought I would error on it having 4?

What you talking about now - pellets per shot or shots per magazine, i.e. mag capacity? Eviscerator and Graal has 3 round mag, Disciple and Crusader got 4. Wraith and Raider 2. Claymore single-shot. Scimitar 8. GPS and Katana - 5.

I was discussing the # of Pellets per shot, I think I am going to go through and test the different shotguns, I have available I didn't test the DLC's or the Spectre Stuff since I don't have the credits available yet.

Claymore: 8
 Disciple: 8
Eviscerator: 8
Graal Spike Thrower: 1
Katana: 8
Scimitar: 8

I was trying to determine which shotgun would be best for Incendiary Ammo uses, and I will now return to my original point, does the damage increase from the higher rate of fire with Explosive Burst make up for the lower damage of the initial shots of the Scimitar?

Any will do, check my table there http://social.biowar...754/16#11893339
Unless they severely redone weapon parameters, I doubt something changed.

According to my old tests - yes. It's one of fastest guns when it comes to relatively big target, such as banshee, at distances about 20 metres and closer.

On most of the rapid fire weapons you will be doing a substantial fraction of the damage just from the explosive burst alone.

For the shotguns, allegedly each pellet has the 50% chance of bursting. I am not sure if that applies to GPS, as the "main" plasma bolt is the only one that activates secondary ammo effects (like disruptor stun, lighting a target on fire, or freezing) so it may indeed only have one that will burst, but don't take my word on it.

In any event, Claymore is a very damaging weapon and if you are using soldier with ARush instant reload and then reload canceling, you can deal a lot of damage from just the weapon alone. I doubt Scimitar would catch up, but it would be more than adequate for applying ammo powers and getting max bursts for more CC.

When I did a shotgun soldier playthrough I actually used the Raider, which holds 2 shots per clip with high rate of fire, and it worked out well for me.
