God no. Don't want to play anything pro-Chantry.

I would rather be on other side - that is some Blood Magic user(Blood Mage/Reaver) or Dragon Cult member.

We had enough of 'do-gooders' already.

Oh hell no, I do not want to be a Seeker.

I'm all over burning every last Chantry to the ground and BBQ the Templars.

No. The chantry needs to be cleansed with fire. Anders should be the protagonist

I would, at least, like the option to join them just like there should be an option to join the mage rebellion for those who want to.

I wouldn't mind starting out as a seeker, as long as I got the opportunity to learn what douchebags they are and turn on them accordingly.

First, the PC's personality needs to be under the player's control. They can't decide for us that we support the Chantry. That doesn't preclude us being a Seeker, but it would preclude us necessarily being a good Seeker.

Second, I like playing mages. I always play mages. My first run through every game is a mage. It will be interesting to see how they allow me to be a mage while also forcing me to be a Seeker.

Since I could only imagine both of those obstacles would be addressed if the game did, in fact, star a Seeker, my answer to the OP is: sure.

No different than being "forced" to be a Grey Warden in DAO. Though I'm not sure you had a chance to directly say "**** the Wardens" in that game -- certainly not to the extent of abandoning the quest of defeating the archdemon -- and people seemed OK with that.

It is different.  Theres a Mage Templer war going on during DA3 and being a Seeker would put you on the side of the Templers/Chantry.

Being a Grey Warden didn't limit what side you could choose.  Unless you wanted to join the Darkspawn.

I wouldn't mind playing as a Seeker, provided that I was given the option whether to play her as a militant fanatic, a moderate, or someone who decide to abandon the Order altogether. a

I want to decide for myself what character I play. Meaning, something different than how DA2 did it. If we get options, and one of those optiens is a Seeker character, then sure.

I don't want to play a seeker, or a templar, or a priestess/brother.
The tension between the religions is nice for a story, but I'm w/ Varic on this one.
I REALLY like the DA:O model, where I got to choose what my characters backstory was. I liked Hawke, and I'm glad I got to play that story, but I want to decide.
That's the fun of Bioware games. I get to decide. Don't kill that guys, its your golden goose.

As an option for backstory or to join in game yes
Forced to would be a disappointment although seeing as though there's the mage class have an only seeker start is unlikely.

As an origin. Though I do not think playing a seeker actually "forces" a pro chantry face. Just as playing a mage doesn't force you to be pro-mage.

Sure, i'm pretty sick of all the mage characters that only feel bad for themselves.

That's the issue Sylvius was talking about. I don't think they would force us to be "on the Chantry's side," whatever form that might take considering the fracturing of the Chantry/Templars/Seekers.

Being a Grey Warden didn't limit what side you could choose.  Unless you wanted to join the Darkspawn.

Maybe the limitations didn't manifest themselves much in DAO (though again, you don't have the option to tell them to ****** off). But they are a political organization like any other, despite their claims of neutrality, and could hypothetically be just as limiting as any other as a result. I could easily see them choosing a side in the mage-templar war, for instance.

And the point is that those hypothetical limitations are only hypothetical, and can amount to nothing if the devs simply handle it well, as they did in DAO (or a bit better, preferably).

No, definitely not if it's mandatory.

If there are Origin stories however, I would support having the option to be a seeker as an Origin.

If the story and protagonist were sufficiently interesting, AND a Seeker-centric plot provided unique insights into the Chantry power structure (and any factional conflicts), I'd be willing to give it a go as a Seeker. Because my natural inclination is to throw a fireball at everything, it would have to be a really strong story. :P

I want my DA3 character to either be a lover or a cheesemonger. The ability to be both would likely be too overpowered to be a believable PC.

Since they are going to keep going with the cinematic presentation, I want my character to be Cassandra Penthagast. Might as well play to the strenghts of their chosen presentation, rather than wishiwashing in the middle satisfying no one.
