Okay, I've done the quest. My question is, what are the consequences to letting it go? I did in my last playthrough, and I dont' remember there being any. But somewhere I read that later some folks are harmed or something? Can anyone tell me?

Theoretically some folks are harmed, no ingame consequences though, enjoy the 25g

for all we know in a year or two we'll be importing our saved games into Dragon Age 2 and the demon will have turned over a new leaf, joined the Chantry and be a party member

I just think it's lame that his 25g disappears and turns into a weak piece of chest armor if you kill him. That's my problem with the loot in general though, typically has NOTHING to do with what the mob in question was actually equipped with or possessed (except when it does... 
)

heck the demon may have 'reformed' the Chantry and become the new Divine.

As far as I'm concerned, he's out raising hell in Orlais or Tevinter, giving them lots of problems and more excuses to not mess around with Fereldan. So I see it as a good thing! He's free, I'm rich, Fereldan's a little more secure, everyone wins! Except whoever the Pride Demon kills.
