Yea, I find it... odd that it isn't specified in the op post.  Maybe Chris is just wrong again.. wouldn't be the first time.

I would feel more comfortable if we got something more authoritative than a twitter post. Mostly because the twitter post made me sick to my stomach and I desperately don't want it to be true.

Agreed, and it's not w/o precedent that things said on twitter are wrong.  Hopefully we'll get some clarification... not that it matters much either way, given the lamenss of VPs.

I am glad that they won't have the N7 weapon. I don't like that everyone gets an N7 weapon even if they didn't participate. I still think they should introduce a 3rd goal which would give you another N7 weapon....Personal Goal.

Like this weekends event. Kill 500 regular level troops and get a Personal Commendation Pack.
(optional: using a Vorcha, Krogan, Batarian - to be thematic with squad goals)

This would bhe nice, but impossible without some sort of counter. As we don't have one for the community goal as it is, you wouldn't know how many you have killed or if you reached the goal at all.

What surprises me is that people thought the twofer was going to be the norm.

It should be, otherwise, it would take over a year to get N7 weapons to X.  This game barely has a couple months of life left in it, especially after the "patch".  Not sure what Bioware is thinking...

There's still a bunch of people who don't have Valiant at all.
At least with getting two Eagles after a weekend it left someone with the satisfaction of knowing they were that much closer to never getting another Eagle ever again. Now we don't have that.

He quickly responded and said that unfortunately, this week's Victory Pack will not contain an N7 weapon.
I was inclined to believe that Operation Mastiff's Victory Pack would become the norm. This latest development is disappointing to say the least.
To everyone else who made this assumption, I feel your pain.

It probably goes without saying, but the Commendation Packs will still include a random N7 weapon like they usually do.

Doubtful. They announced the N7 weapon in the victory pack during the last event in order to boost participation in the community goal and the event as a whole. The whole point of these weekends from Bioware's perspective is to generate and maintain interest is the multiplayer; not announcing a brand new promotional weapon would defeat the purpose of the promotion altogether.

Considering that Rare Gear cards are nearly as hard to get as UR's, that would be a sweet deal.
