I don't know if it's related to the last patch - but I do know I did not experience anything like this kind of problem prior to the patch.

Add to this that UDP, being connectionless (connection and reliability added by Bioware's software), requires some serious thought. Loss of connection is entirely within the game's software. There are some serious issues with latency or lag when making reliability too high, but petition BW to work on their networking software...servers and disconnects and lost shop credits won't be anywhere near the same issue after that.

Its very irritating, especially when you're on Extraction Wave and about to get a tonne of credits.
DRM at its worst - offline for even a few seconds and the game shuts you down. No compensation, not even reverting back to a previous state.
Not to mention this time it said I was kicked. I wasn't, it was a server disconnection. And I didn't lose internet for anything else, so its a problem with the ME servers.

Yep. Just had a disconnection just now. Had them on-off for ages.

See my above comments and the link. FYI, it is considered completely normal to drop UDP network packets when the network is saturated even for a very brief moment. TCP packets die as well, but are saved and then retransmitted after a delay, whereas the UDP used by the game does not. It is complicated by the fact that network traffic is filled with peaks of very short moments where UDP is at risk, so during events and downloads and other conditions that might cause more peaks, otherwise adequate networking might look bad for just a short moment. It seems that the software written by BW to make up for the non-reliable UDP is not entirely adequate. It certainly is not forgiving of those peak moments. It also seems to have other issues that can corrupt data.
As far as being kicked goes, you might have been kicked AFTER the game and just not known it because of other network issues. So likely you were indeed booted, but after you had already been disconnected...the other players probably did not know it was a disconnect, and would have appeared you were idle or non-responsive.

And this time, I was Leader/Host. Which leads me to wonder what happened to the rest of the team...this sucks!

I've only been able to access the multiplayer twice in the past two days, all other times I get the loading screen for about three minutes and then a disconnection notification. If anyone could help or suggest something, that'd be lovely.
At what time do you get this issue? Before you can even get to the multiplayer menus? Or while trying to join a game with quick match?

i have been getting the ea server disconnect bug and also the vanguard bug out thing, yesterday i had to exit the match and re enter because none of my powers was working and i couldnt shoot anything it wasnt doing anything, but on my fiances screen i was standing by the steps on firebase dagger i think it was running on the spot but not moving, the funny thing is right up until operation exorcist i never had any issues playing except the vanguard bug thing, its about time ea fixed their servers
The event to start running was seen by your fiance, but after disconnect, there was no way to see a stop run event. FYI, when the total incapacity of weapons and biotics hit (has hit me many times), I've always been able to reset by dying and getting revived. There is no server error, your client failed in communication with the host player. The only fix is in the software of the game...servers have no participation in what you saw. Ask BW to fix the game networking software in the user side.

trouble is when i got revived the problem was still there, it didnt reset, also battlefield 3 is not a bioware game and many people get the disconnect issue on that server too, which is why i think the disconnect thing is a server issue, but then again im no expert on technical stuff so it is just my guess, but seriously either way the issues need fixing, its difficult to play if you cant even stay connected to extraction, and very frustraiting to do all the work only to lose everything, fixing whats broken is more important than new dlc imo
Many software shops try to reuse some code. In the case of BF3, I'm betting that it uses the same network libraries as ME3, especially since they share origin and both games are owned by EA. EA has likely given requirements for working with their online system, especially since the microtransaction system was mandated by their CEO. I've programmed games before, including networking, and have done software development for over a decade now. It smells like a duck, walks like a duck, and looks like a smelly duck. So losing connection can be between host and guest, or between anyone and origin, with everyone launched from origin having similarities in networking.
I have had times when dying did not reset things as well, but this is more rare than dying not resetting.
Unless enough people complain though, contracts which earn money and brownie points (like dlc) will get the emphasis. Also, the more pervasive the software is (like in multiple BW games and perhaps part of the EA system so BW may not be allowed to change) the less likely it is to get a change without a lot of pressure. There may be more fear of breaking something by changing it than there is perception of value or reward. I agree completely that what players actually need is a fix for what's broken, but the question is what the business side of EA/BW considers more important to them. Just goes to show they do not much care about their customer, this silence from them implies caring more about themselves. It's a loss of trust for me.
