Mind you, I'm finding that I'm absolutely terrible at making *any* sort of character...

I checked that thread earlier and I browsed through about 20 pages of the DAO Player Profiles section and didn't see any.Amberyl Ravenclaw wrote...
I've seen some East Asian-looking male avatars on this forum. You may have to hunt a bit (try the First Character thread), but I think it's possible to some extent.
I know one of the presets in ME had a distinctly Asian male character. The fourth female preset from the left is definitely Asian. Not sure if the same applies to the male presets but the character really doesn't look Asian.flem1 wrote...
The unalterably deep-set eyes would make it difficult. Didn't Mass Effect let you tweak this?

One of the human male noble presets is asian.
You're probably talking about the fourth preset from the left but it really doesn't look like an Asian guy. The fourth human female preset from the left is distinctly Asian, however. No mistaking that one.

The problem is with the eyes - I think the nose is just about doable but there isn't really a good eye shape for the male (humans at least.)
Yes, this is pretty much it right there for east Asians.

Aside from the eyes, getting the nose and the jawline right were my biggest obstacles--not to mention the apparent absence of truly black hair. I'll probably keep tweaking my characters until I get my hands on the game, but the closest I've managed for a Filipino male is the mestizo you now see to the left of this message.
Looks better than my attempt at a Filipino:

Didn't know about the other nose presets when I made that one but the lack of the right shade of brown and cheek/jaw options would've made it impossible anyways.

So being able to make, or not, an Asian character is irrelevant.

But when one wants to make a module that is independent of the DA:O setting and is inspired by cultural and racial histories elsewhere, THEN it becomes relevant. We may just have to wait for a mod to make some improvements, but in the meantime I'm sure that some folks (myself included) see the Character Creator as testing grounds for those possibilities. My avatar, for instance, is meant to look as Southeast Asian (Malay / Indonesian) as much as my pitiful skills can allow for.Jassper wrote...
Just because there are Asians in our world, don't mean there are Asians in the DA world.<br />

EDIT: Also, with the Character Creator it is quite tempting and also human to model one's avatar based on one's actual looks, cultural heritage or what one is familiar with. A little disappointing when it's obvious when there are limitations, but then again no programmable tool is perfect.

Once you have the tool set, the amount of facial control in the Morph editor is amazing - There will be no problem at all making Asians there. So it may be quite possible to create new "presets" for the CC. (don't quote me on that, but it may be possible). The Morph editor should satisfy everyones "wants" in Human or inhuman facial features.
