That's because... it's true.

Bah, we must unite against Allers.

And many people think she is one of the best written characters.

To the people who think she is Bioware's (or Mac Walters) pet...

Q: Do you, as a writer or a player, feel close to any of the characters?
Mac Walters: Having written Garrus in the first game, that’s a character I’ve always followed. I wrote him as well in the second game, but then handed him off in Mass Effect 3. It’s been fun to play through it as not the writer, and see where Garrus’ story went. Sometimes I have to pull the lead writer role and say, “That would never happen.”

Q.It’s good to be the king.
Mac Walters: Aria and the Illusive Man are two of my other favorite characters. I love them because of their moral ambiguity. Both of them have very clear goals, but you never know quite how to take them. They’re not obviously good or obviously bad.

I honestly didn't like her behaviour in Redemption.

The rest was okay.

Opinions :P

The transformation from shy and socially akward archaeologist to cold blooded Shadow Broker was bad, really bad... she is given a lots of roles in the series, and then they don't use them, like the Shadow Broker... if that wasn't enough she changes from "can't hold a gun" to "I kill every merc". And besides, why her to search on Mars? she only has 50 years of experience in the field, her kind lives up to 900.

Someone has to say it and be all arrogant and stuff: Liara kinda forces herself on gay players. I did not have a fabulous space trip around Steve and Kaidan to have Liara as my clinging  hag, constanlty lingering about pretending to be the overlooked wife with her distant husband in a miserable marriage. And if I, the S/S romancer, clearly can see that Liara is kinda in my face all the time, I can understand why others would feel the same.

Yep.

Thought I'd just put it in here. Liara is a hag. Apparently. It brings a whole new perspective to this thread.

And yes. That was a joke.

In terms of dealing with protecting. Miranda was way better, Armor, Barriers, Shields. Easy pickings for Miri.

Both are sentinels that could strip barriers/shields and armor--> Protections dont play any role in Mass Effect 3 anymore,so both are worser then other squadmates. And warp isnt the only detonator for biotic explosions anymoore.

So how excatly would she be a better squadmate then liara or even vega?(at least have grenades and inferno ammo)

She wouldnt be even the only one with squad bonuses...

How is she clingy in ME2?

Shep: "Come with me Liara"

Liara: "The universe doesn't work that way Shepard. I can't drop everything for you. I have debts that need repaying"

Dude, she's not a squadmate in ME3... what are you talking about? the person I quoted said, Liara was the best squadmate in the series, which is not correct. In ME1 it was Wrex, in ME2 Miranda, and in ME3 it's debatable, because Javik is also very good.

Bad bug, yeah. I’ve been meaning to test the hush-hush that you can get it to work right with the appropriate vid files in appropriate locations (that is, not overriding Liara)… this’ll fortunately be fixed in the EC so that this ‘argument’ can be retired.

They confirmed it was a bug?

They confirmed it will be fixed in the EC?

If it was a bug, there should exist video filesfor every LI. Those videos don't exist. I mean how hard is to create a code that verifies a flag and plays the correct video?

No, one explanation is exactly that the video files are missing from the distribution. When it can’t find the correct video file, it selects the Liara vid as the default so that there isn’t just a black screen…

It’s possible, although the code would be a little weird (DailyWTF weird) if that were the case. A slightly more reasonable alternative may be that the bundled assets are actually defined in the code and because some idiot messed up the LI include, the alternative files aren’t referenced and therefore the build system doesn’t include the vids in the distribution.

I’m inclined to believe it’s a bug, because it’d be stupendously bad to have done that consciously even by ME3 standards.

As in, there is no possible upside for them to intentionally ****** off people like that — whether or not Liara is their favorite, this’d be active malfeasance.

ME2 Liara=clingy?!!! You're kidding right?! She makes a cameo....and after being dead for two years, she asks me to go hack terminals....if anything that's pretty "stand-offish".....the exact opposote of clingy....

In ME1 she is overemotional.....she's still coming into.her own.....think of a college freshman....

In ME3 she is a little jealous, giving me looks on Mars before i speak to Ash....or trying to pull my attention away from Ashley's lifeless body.....or the way she leaves as Traynor comes into my cabin....yeah definitely a hint of jealousy....and I LIKE it.....let's me know I got her where i want her....and I thought it was well written....her "gift" could've been waaay better written though

Everyone gets that, not just those who's LI was/has been Liara in the past. So not everyone likes that jealousy, espically if we are romancing someone else. Hence the "Shes always in our face" comments etc.

Can't die

False, or if you’re counting ME and ME2, too, see below.

Dying in the very end of the game, past when you no longer have any more squadmate interaction, and only in the ending where everybody dies, does not really count.

Can't be spoken to rudely or disliked by Shepard

Yes, she can.

In ME1, somewhat. Certainly not in ME3.

Appears in your flashback even if you didn't romance her

It's not a bug; there actually aren't video files for anyone else.

Gets lots of missions where she's forced to accompany you

You’re a Pratchett conoisseur, I see… one, two, many, lots — and you even selected quite the appropriate species… Although I think it’s 3, not 4. Someone do a count?

Mars, Palaven's moon, Eden Prime, Thessia. That's 4. 3.5, if you want to be picky. Still more than anyone else.

Keeps coming into your room without being asked

Can someone enumerate the cases where she’s in your room uninvited?

– NOT after the nightmare: in the corridor, not your room.
– NOT after the other one: you invite into the cabin while you clean up in the bathroom.
– NOT for the time capsule: you invite her.

So those don’t count…which other times?

In your room, in the corridor, big difference. The point is that she gets more non-player-initiated conversations than everyone else.

Again, I like Liara well enough, but there's no point denying that she gets the most favouritism.

The most durable, but not the best. Couldnt keep multiple krogans a bay. Could do anything against geth colossi, could only throw geth armatures.
Top spots: Kaidan and Liara,Tali was great against geth.

in ME2 Miranda

One allrounder, but far away from beeing the "best" thanks to shared cooldowns. Mordin was better against armor and crowd control. Garrus was better against shields. Samara was better for removing barriers(Area reave)

and in ME3 it's debatable, because Javik is also very good.

Javik hasnt anything to control shielded enemies like Liara have with stasis. And pull only affect 2 enemies at best,so its clear who is the best biotic.

And most abilities where copied from Mass Effect 2 anyway, so everyone could assume what powers Miranda would have.

Odd....no....not everybody gets that....atleast her literally hovering over Ashley's body trying to.take his attention off of her....

Seen it first at my friends house....he romances and stays loyal to Ashley throughout the trilogy.....and as a result, Liara never dips her head down.in between Ashley and Shepard.....she just says we need to go to the Citadel

I don't know in which difficulty you played each game, but on Insanity, Wrex is best, he has inmunity, warp, throw, stasis, barrier, carnage, overkill... and he's a krogan, if anybody comes closer he just rams them. Same with Miranda, everyone has an extra layer of "health", biotics are **** in that game (except warp and reave), you take out their defenses and you need 3 shots. And Javik has Dark Channel... use that and a lift grenade, nice bunch of biotic explosions.

It's clear that you are arguing different things. You say that Wrex can't do anything against a Colossi... and Liara can't either, what's your point? And I never said that Javik was the best biotic. If anything the most powerful biotic are Samara and Jack. Javik is a soldier who's also a biotic.
