Personally I love Liara, have nothing bad to say about her really. This also doesn't seem like a serious thread, so I'll add more flame to the fire lol

- She is the one that recovers Shepard's body before Cerberus revives him
- She is the one that discovers the existence of le crucible plans
- She has the most galaxy wide pull of any squad member bar Shepard

-Bioware could easily make it so it wasn't like that, they just gave the writers pet another reason to exist.
-Same answer as above
-Same answer as the first one + it NEVER shows in the game, she never gives you anything that is really important, she just sits in her room and does nothing.

Besides finding out about the Crucible and spending all her time coordinating resources for the Crucible construction. Yeah, that's nothing...

That's nothing that requires her to be on the Normandy, however. In fact, as apparently one of the most acclaimed prothean experts in the galaxy, that seems like a perfectly valid reason for her to be shipped off to the Crucible to help put it together.

So new question, if you skipped Wrex or Garrus in the first one.. How does that affect meeting archangel in ME2? And Wrex on Tuchanka?

On Garrus - Shepard says something like 'Garrus Vakarian?' instead of 'Garrus, is that you?'
On Wrex - unfortunately, game assumes he died.

I am not an outspoken Liara fan, but Garrus appears to have more lines than her. It is just trendy to bash her, I guess. In ME2 it was different. After all, she saved Shepard, so people thought she needed more attention than that silly hack quest. She got that in LotSB, and all of a sudden, for unknown reasons, it is reversed again in ME3.

Only that all her complex equipment was in the Normandy because she was precisely helping Hackett to find the Crucible on the Mars Archives. You seem to forget that the starting events of ME3 catch everyone off guard.

Liara has got the better romance scene in ME3, and she's the favorite character of Mac Walters, who is the lead writer of ME3 (Oh Drew, you miss us...).
That's why I have some difficulties to like her since I discovered it in ME3, and more when I saw the Garrus and Tali's romance wich were very poor.

In ME1 Wrex is the only character you can choose to skip, all the others are "forced".

As for Liara, if you don't like her, don't talk to her. Simple.

Except for those times where you have no choice to interact with her, such as the beginning of the game, the Eden Prime mission, Thessia, and when she tells you about the Asari monastery.

I understand it's probably really old to hear people complaining about Liara, but it's not like you can actually completely ignore her in any of the games, so I am sure that point is just as grinding to the people who don't like her.

There are, like, 3 people in the entire world that genuinely don’t like Liara.

Then there’re about 8 billion who can’t correctly direct their justified anger about the mistreatment of all of the other LIs and, instead of banding everyone together to get ALL characters the storylines they deserve, they in very typical irrational human fashion start picking at eachother instead.

Crabs in a barrel.

…Seriously? Both of those romances are fantastic, especially Garrus (who I think is probably the best off in ME3 if not the entire series). Tali has some minor problems, but overall it‘s quite reasonable. Have you actually played them?

Liara’s romance content is actually fairly poor in comparison. She gets very little — perhaps the least — romance-specific dialogue once again belying the fact that BW ran out of time and just kind of slapped everything together: they used Liara to fill in for the missing LIs for other characters, and shortchanged her with the friendzoning and all that nonsense.

I guess Wrex dying would be the more convenient option for Bioware.

With Garrus, if the greeting is different does that mean everything he has to say is diffferent? Like no talk about 'the good old days?

I dont get all this Liara hate. Maybe she cannot die during mass effect 2 but she is not a squadmate either. For me it seems more like Garrus and Tali are the favorites given that you also get them as squadmates drung ME2 and they both have a huge importance in ME3.

There's a whole slew of characters you cannot ignore in the game, both squadmates and general NPCs. Some I like, some I don't. But I like that not all characters are likeable. It makes the characters more real. And yes, real life is anything but balanced.

Oh I agree. As I said in an earlier post, I don't hate Liara. But those other characters aren't the focus of this thread, and my point was that it's simply not accurate to trumpet the "just ignore them" card.

I personally dont' like Tali, or how she's forced to be a squad member in ME1, but I live with it and don't interact with her outside of the required missions.

I'm talking about the last romance scene. Not about the entire romance in the game^^

I think the Liara's romance scene is more detailled than Garrus romance scene or Tali's where it's just a kiss and done.
I have been disappointed their romance scnere were so poor, and more when you hear that rumor which said the original romance scene of Garrus or Tali was supposed to be... "hot"

Ah, yes. I agree. They should’ve spent a couple more months on the LI/character interaction development but EA said otherwise…

Liara is not Bioware's pet, she's Mac Walter's pet. Mac Walter as in, the guy that ruined the Mass Effect Trilogy for 98% of the fans.

Garrus and Tali are the fans pets, because they weren't written by Mac Walters, and they actually have a personality. Deal with it.

A character has a major role??? Shock horror. It made sense in the story that she'd appear so she did.

I'd like other characters to appear more too, but that's what happens with a two-year dev cycle.

EDIT: That said, that she appears as the last flashback if your LI isn't Kaidan or Ashely is insanely moronic. Just show a clip from the LIs that we've already seen! It'll take 30-60 minutes to implement that into the game!

Just cut the clip, name it, then place the file where the Ash/Liara/Kaidan files are. Set pathways to them too obviously. ;)

That's according to your imagination, not according to reality.

The biggest ME poll ever made established that: Liara was by far the most romanced character and Garrus and Liara were by a massive amount the most used squad combination . So yeah, it's safe to say Liara and Garrus are the two most popular characters among the majority of ME players.

Oh, and sorry to break with your hate tirade, but Walters created Garrus in ME1.

Here's the poll

Although I really like Tali - though she's not my LI, I see her as a close friend - she didn't really do much in ME1. It's only in ME2 that she really got a personality.

In ME1, Tali was a walking Quarian codex.

But maybe you also agree that Justin Bieber is the greatest thing since bread came slice, or "numa numa yei" is one of the greatest hit of pop.

Tali is a little less liked than Garrus because all the Liara brainwashed fappers see her as Liara's rival and vote her down. Still remember the poll made here in BSN not long ago about who would they throw out the airlock, and Liara went down just after James and Kaidan.

I know you don't like it, but it's as it is. You Liara brainwashed mainstream people are just the herded sheep. Real people make their own choices.

Yeah dude, right, you're right and the rest of the world is either brainwashed or delusional and there's also a big conspiration out there to destroy what you like. That's a the most popular point of view in mental asylums...

Always preffered samara/morinth for my asari fix to be honest. Ones a milf and the others just psychotic. Liara is just there and not bad but not memorable.
