DA3 romances.

Please do not have graphic sex scenes(like the Witcher) like some are requesting. It would just be awkward to watch.
Also would it be possible for an LI to reject the PC because of their actions? That would be great.

It would also be cool if there could be a romance that wasn't all lovey-dovey.

This. And they can have nudity without being graphic. They did it in mass effect 1.

I agree with this. Morrigan was close, but she softened up near the conclusion of DAO.

That is why they invented the "Skip" button. So if it does get awkward, you can just press it and skip over it.

^^ This.
Tender moments are all well and all, but i can't stand watching/reading romances that are 100% sugary sweet all the time. It makes me want to get some insulin, because just watching it makes my blood sugar spike.

Skip for ****s sake.
And Bioware one requests. Don't have romances people keep having wet dreams over them.

This sounds great. We only have one such event in DA2. Moar would be nice =)wsandista wrote...

Although I admit that showing any kind of sex scene is as much plot relevant as watching someone eat.
I fully support love interests rejecting you.

Obviously, Bioware isn't going to make that kind of scene based on their track record. But I do find it somewhere between mildly annoying and amusingly naive that the "payoff" for the romances is the sex scene. Like somehow having sex tells you that the other person cares. *rolls eyes*
Anyway, enough of that. Personally, I think the best romance they've ever done was Jaheira's (if you ignored the time line problems that BG2 was rife with). Tender scenes, gift giving, arguments, and effort involved... for a strong partner who wasn't trying to be codependent.
More please?

If they are going to spend the effort on a cinematic, I'd like it to be something that advances the story instead of being pure fanservice. The long pan over Triss scene in The Witcher was pretty much porn because the whole point of the scene was to show Triss naked.
More please?
No , the whole point of that scene was a reference to a story. You see Triss naked about 5 minutes after starting the game.

Seriously, I don't care about the sex scenes. That isn't true. I thought the DA2 fade-to-black was fine. I thought the *modded* DA:O sex scenes were fine (once you got rid of the underwear, because that was just silly). If the game has romances, and I hope it will, I'd like them to be about getting to know each other, not just choosing a flirt at a critical point with the rest of the dialogue being identical whether you're friends or lovers.

What story is it referencing? Maybe I missed something in my play of the game. The scene in general established various things (Like Triss and Geralt being lovers and with the king's army), but the panoramic view of Triss wasn't what established any of that.

I don't consider her particularly shrewish, though she was bossy when she still considered you a idiot child she'd been asked to nursemaid. But that's besides the point. I wasn't advocating any particular personality. I was talking about the structure of the romance. No codependence, failure options, good times, arguments, etc.
Mazzy was the best character in that game, though, I will agree with that. Though the way she treated Valygar.... heh.

It's enough for me to know that sex has occured, I don't consider unnecessarily long, clumsy softcore to be any sort of "reward".
In most other respects, I quite like the way Bioware handled the romances in DA2. Including the clearly designated "flirt" option in dialogues.
The way DA:O did it was just a complete mess. You want broken immersion? Try having Leliana congratulate you on bagging a hot man-elf, only to turn around in the very next conversation and **** you out for "cheating" on her when you've never so much as held hands. There's not even a dialogue option to call her out for being a bipolar, delusional ****. You basically have to "break up" with her, therefore legitimising her unwarranted assumption that you were ever in a relationship with her in the first place.
If I've been pounding Zevan into the dirt everytime I return to party camp, other members of the team should be able to get the hint on their own that, regardless of what I may or may not have said, I'm not interested in them and never was.

I don't really consider the sex scenes a "payoff" in DA:O, and especially not in DA2. The romances and the characters still develop beyond that. I saw the sex as a legitimate and logical step in the personal stories of the characters, and a springboard for further growth. It makes sense to establish if sex has occured (though explicitly showing it is unnecessary, at least for me), as plenty of people IRL would consider it a milestone in their own relationships.Vormaerin wrote...

In some cases, the sex isn't actually evidence of the other character "caring" for you. Zevran, Morrigan and Isabela all make it very clear, at least initially, that it was a relatively casual thing for them. Getting the eventual declaration of "love" takes a bit more work.

Yeah, its not 100%. Though I think you'll find that nearly all the exceptions are the "bad girl who is changed by love" characters. Viconia, Jack, Morrigan, Zevran, Isabella.

This.
I've got a good imagination, I know what goes where and don't need a game to draw me a picture. A tender embrace and a fade to black can do just as much if not more to advance a romance storyline as a sex scene.
