It's because "mature" is a word meant for people who are advanced enough to witness content like that without being deeply affected by it. 14 year old boys don't belong in that category. Really neither do adults that ravenously demand more and more of it like it's the most important thing ever. There's nothing mature about asking for sex or violence at the expense of the rest of the story. In a video game's case, that's exactly what a sex scene does - it leeches zots away from the rest of the game for a few short seconds of player arousal. If what we really want is for a scene to portray the depth and beauty of a relationship between two people, we'll lobby the developers for extra scenes of dialogue that bring us a deeper sense of intimacy, not arousal, and then fading to black or panning away will be fine.
Because we're all "adult" enough to know what goes on without having to slaver over every animated detail.
By the way, I have a brother who is 14 and love him to bits. I just happen to know how his brain works.
I bet you just lie there and ask "are you done yet"

You make sex seem like such a drag those few second you could've gotten laundery done or something. Damn real life should just get rid of it altogether and focus more on the story!

Rated R movies almost always have sex in a "mature" story. It doesn't have to be "graphic" like Witcher 2 but having sex with clothes on is more awkward than anything...seriously.
I mean, it's not like it's some big secret in life. Everybody has a life that revolves around this...it's apart of our nature. Why not have a little nudity?
I'm not asking for scenes where I'm having a threesome and finding the best sexual position...
Romances feel a little more genuine when they show nudity. I might be alone in saying that but that's how I see it...
I weep for the world in Dragon Age where everyone makes love with clothes on. Where is the pleasure in life!? Not like FOX news or politicans are going to shut Bioware down for doing it...

Oh Lola... amazing!
Not that it's any of your business, but I'm not actually a sex prude at all... I just prefer to have my own steamy adventures rather than beg video game developers to simulate them for me.

This is something we agree on. The Witcher was basically porn in video game form. Something that could pass for TV-MA but not raunchy enough for XXX. Still was pretty distasteful to me.wsandista wrote...
There has been a huge amount of threads pertaining to that topic, but I have one request.
Please do not have graphic sex scenes(like the Witcher) like some are requesting. It would just be awkward to watch.
Also would it be possible for an LI to reject the PC because of their actions? That would be great.

Oh no...not this topic again, please!
It was already stated, that in DA2 the only bi LI is Isabella. They aren't "all bi". The others have a "subjective sexuality", so they are straight for a straight hero and gay for a gay hero. That's the perfect way to please all the players, who don't want to play any role in the game, but themselves.
So, let's keep it this way...it's sad, but I'm ok with it.

This is absolutely hilarious. You obviously missed the part where half the scene was one of the Scoiatel speaking of an elven legend between two elven lovers. It was supposed to exemplify the love Triss and Geralt felt for eachother.
You haven't actually played the game have you? Typical BSN prudes. The dry hump scene in DAO was completely gratuitous, along with all Bioware sex scenes. TW2 is the only sex scene in recent memory where there has actually been some kind of story trying to be told.
Actually, I was referring to the prologue scene where, for some reason, Geralt is wearing trousers but we get a nice eyeful of Triss. The scene doesn't establish anything except that Triss and Geralt sleep together. I guess I"m just too stupid ot understand the deep artistic meaning of that. I mean, I never would have figured out that they were lovers or that guards were lascivious without the camera lingering on Triss' crotch.
Not to mention, I didn't say anything complimentary about Bioware's "sex" scenes so I'm not sure how being even more disparaging of them invalidates anything I've said.

Oh great, another post on these forums about how TW2 is increadibly deep and meaningful and the bestest thing ever compared to Dragon Age. You do realize this is the same series which gave us collectible sex cards, right? You really think CD Projekt didn't put that scene in mostly for titilation?

I thinke you misinterperted me. For one I thought putting a smily at the end made it clear that I was only joking. And second I did not imply that you were bad I imply that you didn't enjoy it. From the way you were talking it seemed you just bored with the whole concept and I thought I'd just joke about it. No real harm meant in what I said.
Wanted to clear that up.
To be honest I don't really care what they do with DA3 I doubt I'll be getting it with Bioware's current direction.

So, why exactly did you continue to talk about the scene in the prologue when you knew i was talking about the one in the elven ruins? You seem to have grabbed the point i made, and then extrapolated it to a different scene.
The scene in the beginning, along with 90% of other media sex scenes, was gratuitous. The scene i was talking about, however, was not, for reason i already stated.

If you have never played Witcher or know anything about Geralt that's important. How the scene plays out and how they react to the guard, all part of the scene.
It's about what you would expect for an 18 rated movie and what an 18 rated game should not shy away from.

Obviously, the scene is important. But you don't need the eyeful of Triss and the camera focused on her lap to establish it.
Nice to see the double standard is still in play. Wouldn't want a pantsless Geralt scaring any of those mature audiences away.

Every time somebody starts one of these threads, I keep thinking it's going to be about the romances. You know, the pacing, method of initiation, objects d'amour, that kind of thing. Instead, it always seems to be about whether or not there's a money shot. It's disappointing.
It would be nice to discuss those other elements. Though the problem there is with game length. The shorter the game, the harder it is to do anything competent with pacing. I did bring up those elements and why I thought they were done well in the Jaheira romance. But my only feedback was that Jaheira was a nag.
