Every time somebody starts one of these threads, I keep thinking it's going to be about the romances. You know, the pacing, method of initiation, objects d'amour, that kind of thing. Instead, it always seems to be about whether or not there's a money shot. It's disappointing.

I agree that the "money shot" isn't all there is to a game romance. The pace, the plot, and the characters involved are just as important. I just pointed out that I like the sex scenes to disprove the idea that those scenes are targeted at 14 y/o boys. Not all women cringe at the sight of a little naughty play.

The double standard is one of those things that gets on my nerves. Women are shown in all stages of nudity in the media but they never consider that someone might enjoy a little more male skin showing......Image IPB I mean they don't have to show everything, but a little more equal time would be nice for a change. ( I love the idea of a pantsless Geralt ) Image IPB

I just hope I'm not he only woman on this forum that feels this way Image IPB

It's not the nudity that bother's me. DA:O's sex scenes are poorly animated, the character models aren't attractive and they bump together awkwardly. I don't know what they think they're doing, but it sure as heck isn't sex.

The scene is unnecessarily long and badly editted, the background music is pretty poor. All these aspects combine to create a pretty hammy and uncomfortable experience, especially if other people happen to be in the room. It's the difference between watching a well-made romantic drama or a trashy soap opera.

Even in DA2, Bioware was barely able to simulate a decent kiss. No videogame I've seen has yet developed the technology to create a sex scene that isn't just painful to watch. If they can do it right, then fine, great, fantastic even. But I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Obviously, the scene is important.  But you don't need the eyeful of Triss and the camera focused on her lap to establish it.

Well double standards exist everywhere. Topless men on the beach no problem. Topless women.. problem at least in this part of the country. Nothing CDPR can do about ratings showing Geralt would have pushed it to AO so the issue is with the ratings boards not CDPR.

Liara's scenes in ME1 and ME3 were good, the DA2 scenes were generally fine too.

DA:O's were the worst of both worlds. Managing to be both tacky and absurdly prudish at the same time.

Yeah I know. It just bugs me that nobody has any problem showing Triss's butt, but showing Geralt's tush would be over the top. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Yeah, game companies are notoriously bad at sex scene animations but who knows, Bioware could end up being the company that made it magically work one day. Hey, I gotta think positive here. Image IPB I say let the game companies keep trying to make them look right. Practice makes perfect as they say.

If done correctly it could be an interesting twist. It's somehting I haven't really thought about in a DA game till you brought it up. Hmmm, an interesting prospect to consider. Thinking about it somewhat, I think Bioware could have turned the Isabela romance into this sort of thing if they had the inclination to write it that way. Instead of making her a companion they could have made her an antagonist and then popped her in various portions of the game. Its just something for me to mull over.

Jack was like that, but it was never really explored in detail.

Some of the LIs in Aragest are kind of like that maybe more tsundere than potentionally deadly. The Runefactory/Harvest Moon games generally have a nice variety.

Well- I'm not gonna lie- I like to see sexy skin showing on men and women. I was right there w/ ya during Thor, wishing that hottie would just stay half naked and rolling around in the mud for the whole movie- but I kinda feel like there's a time and a place.  Enjoying a cute girl in a bikini beach scene or a sweaty hunk in a gym scene appeals to me, but animate those characers, and the appeal dies.  I don't know whether it's the uncanny valley thing, or what, but the idea of controlling an avatar during a game and then watching that avatar get really nasty  makes me feel well .  I like my games to stimulate my imagination yes, but not my... well, you know.  ME1, to me, was just right, the suggestion of what happened, no dry-humping, enough to confirm that yes, they got naked, and yes, it was meaningful to the storyline, and so on.  More than a moment of Liara's butt though would probably have made me get that squicky feeling.

All that said- the Witcher 2 didn't bother me too terribly much.  I thought some of it was really unnneccessary and more than a bit silly, but I had the option to skip the parts that really gave me the heebies, so if Bioware wants to include something more graphic, I hope they'll take pity on those of us that are a little weirded out by cartoon sex and make the skip button really REALLY obvious and available.

Do the romance scenes like in ME3. That is all.

Graphic sex scenes are part of why I don't play the Witcher.

I do NOT support the OP in this case. DA3 will no doubt be an M rated game. The cutscenes should reflect as much. I am an adult and when I purchase an M rated game, I expect it to be one. Oh and if DA3 ends up being T rated, I won't be buying it.

Yes, this is coming from a female player. I get tired of people taking in all the gore in a game without batting an eye, but Andraste forbid a little hanky panky.

I'm with this person^   If a game can have exploding enemies, what's wrong with a little nudity?

At least the Witcher 2, like Angry Joe said, treated us like adults

A little nudity is fine, sure. I'd be happy if the sex scenes were something like the ones in ME1.

However, the scenes in Witcher 2 were just fan service. Full frontal female nudity is all fine and dandy, but if you're going to go down that route, you have to have show just as much male nudity as well.

There is a lot of porn out there, and when I really want to see it, I see it. I don't want to see it in my video games. It's sort of like watching Game of Thrones. I love that show but I don't need to see the characters having sex. Same way I don't need to see them taking a poo or shoeing their horses. Yes it's part of life but I don't generally enjoy watching other people have sex. If I do enjoy watching others have sex (e.g. porn) then I'm getting turned on, and I'm watching it for a specific reason (duh). I don't play video games to get turned on.

no ones asking for porn.  just maybe a little middle ground between to much and to little.

Certification does not work that way. You can show a bare chested bloke in a U cert.

There has been a huge amount of threads pertaining to that topic, but I have one request.

Please do not have graphic sex scenes(like the Witcher) like some are requesting. It would just be awkward to watch.

Also would it be possible for an LI to reject the PC because of their actions? That would be great.

wtf

Maybe do it Sims style and just have them play twister under bed sheets or something?

On romances however, I wouldn't mind having them a little more... realistic. Not as much lovey-dovey stuff Bioware, please? Why can't I joke around or be sarcastic and receive the same treatment from an LI? I'm fairly young but not completely naive in regards to relationships, not all of them follow a linear path of "I can't live without you/you're the best thing in my life' icecreams pretty damn good to, and it doesn't b**** at you either.

Just quickly as well, and I know this is pointless to even try but isn't this topic for discussing DA, not the Witcher?

I found the Witcher2 scenes more amusing than anything. What sticks in my mind about them is this.

The guard trying to perv on Triss and making excuses to stay longer.
Geralt hopping on one leg while trying to get his pants off and getting yanked into the bath by an impatient Triss.

That they were naked barely registers since that is so normal for the situation.

Again, for all you prudes out there, the ESC button is there for a reason. It works just as well as "fade to black".

Its not name calling. "a prude, a person who is excessively proper or modest in speech, conduct, dress, etc. ".
I just wonder why people keep crying about "oh so too much sex" when they can simply press ESC and be done with it. Nobody is forcing you to watch the horrible "sex" scene.
