 If there is any family member companions they shouldn't be designed to be hot or ugly. they should simply be designed to be your family member. 

on the note that bethany was hotter than all other female options. yeah sadly i'd have to agree with you, isabella was kinda meh,  and the elf and man lady were gross. 

ultimatly no character should be designed to be hot or to be ugly  they should just be designed to be the character "themselves" if you understand my meaning.   We all agree more thought needs to be put into every aspect of the next game and bioware know this.

On a somewhat more serious note than my previous posts on this topic, there is at least one mod out there designed to give Bethany a sexier outfit. "Red Temptress Bethany", I think it was. Clearly at least one person in the community wishes she was romanceable...

If I'm going to have video game siblings, I want them to be attractive, because that fits in with my head canon that all my characters are stunningly beautiful. It damages my immersion to have uggos as blood relations.

In addition to attractive siblings, I would like a passage from the Chant of Light included in the codex which explicitly outlines how disgusted the Maker is with the idea of incest. This will also help my immersion.

Yes, and we can't restrict player options, so they can romance who they wan't to romance, even if it's incest.

Why shouldn't a family member be pretty?
I personally never thought Bethany or Carver the most attractive person in the game, character-wise or appearance-wise. They are both good-looking, sure. So is Leandra. And Charade. I guess it runs in the family.
Isabela is very pretty, as is is Aveline - in the different way. Merrill is more on the "cute" side.

I'm curious as to how come we don't hear about this issue with the female gamers? I mean they only have the options of Fenris and Anders, so is Carver unappealing as a character in general?

Depends on how he ends up looking after you customise your Hawke. Default Carver I don't find particularly attractive.

Honestly, most of the presets for both Bethany and Carver are okay, but neither of them appear amazingly attractive. They're fine.

In real life, I look at my brothers and I see them as little kids. That's not hot. I roleplay my characters the same way. So no issues for my Hawkes.

i found that asianish Bethany was slightyly hotter

as far as hot sisters? no, mostly cause Bioware would not go down that deep dark hole, plus its too damn tempting when you cant have it

As much as I love friendship!Carver, the thought of wanting to romance him or Bethany or Hawke's mother is really gross. I have brothers and a mother in real life and immediately link the game relatives in my mind to the real ones(as BioWare intended). I want my in-game family to look attractive, since I try to make my game characters very good-looking. They should match! I even made one of my mHawkes into Carver's twin, it was awesome

"Eye Candy" ! That's the real heart of the argument about Bethany being your sister in the game. Isabella was too much and Merril was barnyard attractive, while Aveline had a jaw that looked like you could break bricks on.
