Yea, try to see the message for what it is, not for your own attempt at being somehow more enlightened than everyone else.

Comparing anything to the mass effect ending is almost certainly going to be seen as bad.

It's similar to saying things are "gay" when they don't work out. Eg. "The Ending to Mass Effect 3 was gay!" That can still be seen as insulting to homosexual people.

That was great OP, sums it up pretty nice.

But her name wasn't John, it was EA.

Your comparison is more than a little weird.
Also, transphobic.  Super good job with that.

sounds like this was inspired by "If Diablo 3 were a girl"

Oh, good. Transphobia. That's just what we need around here, less respect for our fellow human.

This response reminds me of a customer at a warehouse I once worked at.  He had a chip on his shoulder and thought everyone hated black people.  He once ordered a part and was asked if he wanted that in black or silver because, you know, those are the two colors it comes in.  Instead, he couldn't see past the fact that someone said black and had to rant about how "you got a problem with black?!"

Yes, I'm sure that really happened.

Ok, I guess this might just be me, but not wanting your significant other in a relationship to have at some point be gender you are not attracted too is a perfectly valid desire.

Not really the same thing as the OP specifically implied that ME3 was a trap, which in itself is a stupid stereotype of TS individuals. The guy at the warehouse might even have been being deliberately OTT on a dare, or even just because he wanted to see a reaction. Otherwise yeah, he perhaps is a little too sensitive.

My only real beef with the analogy was that it was working very well until the last line, which just felt like a stretch for a punchline. In keeping with the ME tone and memes, it might've been more logical if any potential sexual encounter was barred by a whisper along the lines of 'You'll need to buy this DLC before we can have sex'

And no offence to you or the OP, but the issue is most people do perpetuate the 'trap' stereotype/fear that seems so prevalent. I think though the biggest issue is that the subject is very rarely breached in the media, and very often to comical effect: I remember the Big Brother contestant constantly referred to in the British tabloids as the Portu-Geezer, for example. Of course as it's perpetuated in the worst 'papers' that are unfortunately read by a lot of people, most will see it as something to trivialise. Of course there was also the contestant on America's Next Top Model who was disqualified for being born male, too, which to me kinda seems hypocritical considering the point of the show (especially as so many fashion models are androgynous anyway).

I had a feeling it would be a mistake to click on this thread. I was right. Not that that makes me a genius or anything. It's usually a mistake to click on BSN threads.

That would be biological sex, not gender.  A transwoman has always been a woman, and a transman has always been a man.  So, really, you needn't worry.

I thin the issue for most people is they have difficulty understanding exactly what being transgender is. I've come across people who think it's a case of Nature Vs. Nurture. This in itself is pretty much proven invalid by that horrific ordeal those twins went through roughly 40 years ago.
One of the boys had his penis accidentaly burnt off when having a routine circumcision. His parents were advised to raise his brother as a boy, and him as a girl, and basically to ram it home that he was a girl. It failed horribly, as the child grew up questioning their gender, and eventually proving the nutjob doctor wrong by having sexual reassingment surgary to make him male. I wish I could remember enough of the details as to even remember when it happened, but I know there was an episode of SVU that loosely covered the story.

Anyway, most people I think see it as an unreal thing because they're completely comfortable in their own skin and never feel like you're in the wrong body. It's also very hard to describe without becoming very abstract.

The best example i can give is with Chloe Sivigny (sp) in her latest series (Hit and Miss) where she had a fake penis glued on. She felt so uncomfortable having something there that felt alien that she would often end up crying. Not perfect, but at least somewhat close to how it is for many.

In no particular order...

1. The 'Emails Shepard Should Have Sent' Thread
2. 'Lines That Should Have Been in ME3' Thread
3. Seival
4. A picture of Miranda with her top off, followed by a picture of Okeer declaring 'I APPROVE.'

Pretty sure it's the timing of it that's the problem. Yes if it had been sooner, some people would have been wierded out and left, but it wouldn't be as much of a WTF moment

OP is offensive, bigoted, and inaccurate. Much more accurate, not to mention less ignorant and prejudiced, would be to replace the name "John" with "Jar Jar Cthulhu."

Hey but at least she's into multi-player.

Edit: Not only that, if you don't play with other people at least 3 times a day, her effectiveness alone with you goes down.
