I don't think she even has to 'attempt' to be more enlightened than most around here.

I wont quote your posts, but just know that you have my gratitude for your thought out and well written nuggets of niceness :)

Don't mention it :). I see a lot of stuff online and obviously most is hyperbole and can generally be ignored, but when any repeat of something innacurate appears I always try and deal with it as calmly and supportively as I can.

But anyway, it's personal to me as well, so it's not as if I'm giving voice to the voiceless, rather that I would rather see people understand the situation, rather than just assume something they've read or heard is factual.

If ME3 was a girl it would be a butterface.

Awesome body to work with but an ugly mug that you just can't get passed.

Either that or a badger that got hit with a shotgun blast.

OP is offensive, bigoted, and inaccurate. Much more accurate, not to mention less ignorant and prejudiced, would be to replace the name "John" with "Jar Jar Cthulhu."

Thank you for the thorough analysis. Now I know what to think about myself.

Of course it can be said that I was not accurate enough with the last lines, because I had an idea in mind and probably did not dress it up with correct words.

I guess it would sound better off if I wrote that I was a little drunk with my expectations of the girl(game) and everything went well until the last moment, when I found out it was a man pretenting to be a girl.

To be completely clear - I did not want to offend anybody with the last line.

This thread makes me go "Iiiiirck".
If you wanted to not make it phobic, the girl could say: "You know .. I hope you don't mind I still have a dick?".  It's fair enough for a man to not be into dick, but kinda shallow to many, to reject people because of some meta-knowldege of their past. "Used to be a man", kinda inplies she's a full women now.

Anyway. I won't lecture any more. The spirit of the joke was funny.

To be precise - I did not say "I used to be a man" but "I was once named John".
Nevertheless it may have sounded wrong to some, and I apologise for that yet again, but had no real idea of substituting the endline...

Fair enough. You can't always tell where people's buttons are. But being named "john" is the same as having been a man previously, isn't it?

Anyway. I'm not up in arms over this. I just had yet another "Sigh" moment, which I have a lot on these forums. You still got good feedback and responses, so "yay" ..

Well not really, but it's just based on one example from my life, when suddenly one chap named Jack decided to go with Jackie on some selected nights...
Yup, could've been worse:wizard:

Still, that's what I feel 'bout the ending. Period.

The most horrible thing about this thread is the volume of people who don't see how hugely offensive the OP is.

I mean, finding out someone is trans in-and-of-itself is grounds for feelings of revulsion and disappointment right.... right, that's why it's funny _isn't it_?

Like going on a blind date and finding out your date is black!, Perfectly natural to suggest that it would be a huge disappointment. Who would be offended at that? it's just the way things are. and after all the OP didn't _intend_ to offend anyone, no harm done...

Sickening...

The world is full of shallow people, (not saying the OP is, saying his joke was). This statement is backed up by his moderately positive feedback.

I'm not offended, so whatever.

I imagine ME3 as the hot girl looking for the perfect man, who leaves you for another man because he has a bigger car.

This response reminds me of a customer at a warehouse I once worked at.  He had a chip on his shoulder and thought everyone hated black people.  He once ordered a part and was asked if he wanted that in black or silver because, you know, those are the two colors it comes in.  Instead, he couldn't see past the fact that someone said black and had to rant about how "you got a problem with black?!"

Yea, try to see the message for what it is, not for your own attempt at being somehow more enlightened than everyone else.

I thought it was a manifestation of heterophobia, but whatever.

You are missing the point.
There is a difference between going for a blind date and being surprised at what you see.
The end of the thread was the surprise of the secret kept away. Don't you bullsh*t me, you wound't be offended at THAT moment. It's not about WHO you are, but who you PRETEND to be. Just like the endings.

Don't mistake it with a reaction at the start, when the other person would OPENLY state how things were/are and you would then decide on the course of this relationship. On you would depend whether you accept that or be offended by it.

the thread was about the first situation, not a general attitude.
A lie told in the moment of almost no return is ALWAYS offensive. Whether it's an ending to a 100-hr playtime or first date already in the bed.

LOL.

There's no such thing as heterophobia. One cannot be phobic against the most privileged group of people in this world. There's no institutionalized heterophobia, and never will be. Those few gay or trans people that do fear heterosexuals are probably 0,0001 af the total amount of all non-straights and therefore non consequential, and further more their fear probably isn't irrational but a consequence of violence and abuse.

To say "heterophobia!" is like the big white shark shouting at them small fish: "Stop terrorizing me with objections!"

Objecting to phobia and bigotry is not an act of aggression.

Anywho.

LOL. What the hell? Did I skip a few centuries in my sleep and wake up in a world where it's expected to be into transgendered people? Am I not allowed a good old fashioned sense of preference? This is the second time this accusation appears in this thread. Really, wtf?

Trust me mate, if I were to find out that a girl I like had been born a dude, I'd be pretty turned off. That's just my sexuality talking, I can't help that.
