As to the breath scene, if they didn't "expand" that into a full fledged ending, then Bioware really has completely lost touch with it's customers.

It's pretty damn clear from almost everything they've done in the past two years that they have. Or... at least with regards to a good portion of their long-time customers (some of which are now former customers). Dragon Age 2 and ME3 alone should be proof of that if nothing else. It's all about the mainstream gamer now. BioWare don't want to make proper RPGs any more. Heck... they don't even want players to be able to roleplay at all. They just want to make story-driven, cinematic action games. The amount of RPG features that have been dumbed down or simply removed to facilitate their cinematic storytelling that's oh-so-important now is proof of that.

100% agree. Bioware well done you have redeemed yourself and won back a customer. I too look foward to the huge depth added to the endings with this 1.9 GB update. Kudos.

Wow!

You sell yourself pretty easily.

July 4th, why bioware. I have holidays and I have to wait, it's like torture.... Not fair. :(

Because it's fitting. July 4th is the day that many fans will no doubt celebrate their independence from BioWare.

Frankly I'm not holding out much hope. I already barely come here as it is and don't think the EC will motivate me to stay at all. I'm curious as to what exactly it is the EC adds since it's a bit bigger file size-wise than Shadow Broker but I'll get to that on Tuesday. This will pretty much be the deciding point for me in regards to Bioware games.

I'm very doubtful I can come to be able stomach the very affront to the theme of the Mass Effect universe and just plain bad writing that is the Catalyst but we will see how the winds blow.

I still hope it is not a sick explanation of the sadly-well-known colourful ending, but from their blog I got that their just explaining why the ending is like this...
I'll grab it and play it (it's free) but I really doubt I'll take another Bioware product (be it a DLC or a game) without seeing users reviews (as long as they put personell from well-known game review website as character in their games and since EA seems to be controlling a huge amount of the reviewers).

So I have the terrible feeling that we will witness the actual size of Bioware failure after selling herself to EA.

A couple of observations:
-Cool that Casey mentioned the beliefs that the relays destroy everything and/or that people will starve at earth.
-it is interesting that the EC will cover the events before shepard beam up to the citadel
-A picture shows a new cutscene with joker and the normandy.

All this gives me hope the they will adress some of the plotholes in the ending.

Looking forward to this.

Also, something should be done about the person impersonating Casey on the youtube video comments.

Again, in case you missed it earlier, with added emphasis.

I look forward to the huge depth added to the endings with this 1.9 GB update.

If for some reason, this Extended Cut turns out to be a trivial effort with some last-minute Dragon Age Origins static background epilogues tacked on - I will never touch another Bioware game again.

Agree totally. Bioware isn't a RPG developer anymore in my opinion. Don't hold out much hope for this, it seems like that stupid starkid and everything that doesn't make sense will stay, don't know how they're going to explain those satisfactorily.

 1.9GB? That's a lot of cut scenes. :D

... or few poorly encoded. ;)

If you listen to the interview, Casey actually said they had to make it fit since the Xbox only has a 2.0GB limit download. O.O
They probably had more but had to cut it down? That sucks, especially since I'm on Xbox for ME too. <.<

Even some boxed games are under 2GB. If they cant fit EC into the size limit, they are doing it wrong...

Looks like I'm gonna youtube it. Not putting myself through that dreadful "final assault".

1.9GB sounds like a lot, but for 10 minutes? And clarity? I'll remain cynical; they need a miracle.

Thanks for the early update - it's good to have time to grind the EMS back to 98%-100%. I played ME3 for the first time since march yesterday and downloaded the new maps. So far looking good.

Did anyone else read the FAQ in Avina's voice?

And how about we wait until AFTER the DLC is released before we start ****ing about it?

So June 26th is ME3 D-Day.

The fact they need an extended cut to explain the endings is a fail in itself.

Will have to play it and see it for myself to decide if its any good of course, i do hope though that the end makes some sense now though. Gotta admit my hopes arent high though.

And that alone is why this thing is a massive waste of time, is going to fail and just illustrates that you guys haven't learned and aren't really listening at all.

Also, you guys were seriously "incredibly proud" of ME3?!

Wow, just... wow...

I can't believe the team is proud of such half-assed mediocrity that's almost nothing like it was promised to be. So linear, so lacking in choices and options, so lacking in dialogue and roleplaying and so lacking in meaningful consequences. I just fail to see what there is in ME3 to be proud of. Even if you completely ignore the ending, ME3 was a poor effort and bad sequel.

I'm not sure why this is so surprising. You're certainly not the first person to hate a popular product put out by a AAA developer. And there's nothing wrong with finding ME3 to be mediocre. But considering that any product has its share of detractors, you can't really be too surprised that any developer would feel like this about their product.

last chance for €Aoware to make me install the games again on my pc. if this fails (which i think it will), i will not touch them again. ME3 was already a little disappointment with the lack of choices and other stuff they screwed up which worked so well in the previous games.

of course €A is proud of this game, because they can bend us over and get more money from us.

this video explains it very nicely.

I am hoping beyond all reasonable hope that they included a confrontation with Harbinger in this somehow. 1.9 gigs is a pretty hefty update.

For comparison: Lair of the Shadow Broker was 1.52 gigs.
