They have said over and over again they aren't changing what happens.  I don't know why people keep thinking it may change the ending because it doesn't.  Wishful thinking I suppose.

I think some people still want to change the ending and don't want to give up.

So who won't be downloading EC and waiting until the vids are on youtube? I know I will be.

Why? It's free. You are not making any sort of statement by not downloading it and all of your playthroughs restart right before the end anyway.

Even if it's free, the amount of downloads is a testament to Mass Effect's popularity. Claiming high popularity creates more sales from NEW customers...

In THAT case... I'll make sure to download it twice. Just to offset someone else's temper tantrum.

+1 for the good guys

I'm quite certain that either through IP's or Origin and the other lvie services they'll know who does what, so I'm not sure that will make any difference.

I'm expecting the EC ending to not only suck still, but to now remove the possibility of "head-canon" to make the ending resemble anything that could be considered bittersweet.

No, none of the endings could possibly be called "bittersweet" once you take events to their logical conclusion. And since the ending is just "explained" not altered, then I'm presuming they did too.

Well then they need to start dealing with reality.  I don't need the endings changed,  I just need a decent epilogue and some of my war assets in action.  I can understand some people wanting different endings but that isn't happening.  People will either accept the EC or they won't.  But after the EC hoping for anything else regarding the ending is futile.

I, honestly, can't wait for the rage on Tuesday.

"BioWare didn't change the endings like we demanded! They LIED to us! Rabblerabblerabblerabble!"

It's going to be hi-LAR-ious.

And by "hilarious", I mean "so god damned annoying that people never bothered to read a damn thing and are raging anyway."

The problem is, you DON'T take them to their "logical conclusion", you take them to their "completely incredibly absurd and with no logic at all" conclusion. Despite BioWare SAYING that the asplodey doesn't kill everything, y'all STILL sit there and say "the asplodey kills everything! Everything's DOOOOOOOOOOOMED!" and it's like... no. It's not. That's the complete antithesis of logic.

The endings, as stated, are perfectly bittersweet if you take events to their actual logical conclusion. A lot of people just don't understand logic.

Yeah I suspect tons of posts along the lines of "They never said they would change the ending" because people have a habit of not paying attention.

Don't forget about the angry Youtube videos since good amount of them "reported" that the EC would change the ending.

Man, I sorta think Bioware is making a mistake with this DLC. I know exactly whats going to happen. The DLC could be excellent, but there will still be a good chunk of people who are angry because they aren't changing what happens, and of course ignorant "They lied to us!" posts will be everywhere just like they are right now.

The point is, nobody wants to admit it, but a good chunk of the people who still hate on the ending, secretly WANT to hate it. It's some kind of mental disorder where people think that being miserable somehow gives value to their lives, and they will continue to produce that misery wherever they can because it "empowers" them. Sad.

Fingers crossed for Bioware's Extended Cut. I hope it restores any lost faith Bioware has gotten recently.

Wow.  Condescend much?  Take a long hard look at what you said.

Oh indeed it will be hilarious and patheticaly predictable.  Of course I think some raging will be for the sake of raging.

People have been asking about the EMS and how it changes in the Extended Cut DLC.

The original experience of the game was meant to reward players who did extra work (multiplayer, importing a save, playing the iOS games, etc) with greater levels of success in the end, which is appropriate to a story about a war that needs every possible advantage in order to win. But now that we are moving to a post-launch period and have additional content for the endings, we wanted to make it easier for all players to experience even the best-cast endings. Playing multiplayer is just one component is a sea of variables that can affect your ending. If you don't play MP, you have to find other ways raise to raise your EMS before attempting to retake Earth, including a comprehensive single player play through. Likewise if you suffered some blows to your EMS prior to assaulting Earth, MP is a great way to raise your score high enough for the final assault.

Keep in mind that the results of having a very low EMS rating can have distinct effects on the outcome of the game in teh same way having a high EMS can

When people complain about the END, what are they talking about? For me it was the lack of EMS doing anything, a random clip show, followed by silly short credits, no finale (either space battle or Harbinger boss fight) and Buzz Aldrin with no epilogue.

Apparently the Extended Cut, for all reports made in the last two days, will show EMS/Choices/Epilogue...exactly what should have been in the final game.

I can't complain until I've played it, when I first played I accepted the Starchild because I thought Harbinger would pop out and go "boo", if an extension makes it make sense, all the better, but that wasn't my problem, my problem was solely on lack of choice outcome and no epilogue -which gave a sense everyone died.

If it's good, I can congratulate Bioware on keeping me on a game for so many months longer then my average game time. If not, well, they tried and I can respect that.

Now can someone tell me what's wrong with Dragon Age 2, I'm afraid to finish that now. XD

If it is good, people will herald Bioware and they will come out like shining heroes (I doubt it)

On the middle ground, people wil shrug and say they don't care (Possible).

On the bad end, it will add gas to the fire causing an even greater argument then what we already have seen.(Much more likely).

Absolute worst case scenario, it could spell doom for the franchise, the outrage from the fan base will cause Bioware's stock to plummet and several people loose their jobs.

In any case this dlc will have a massiv impact on the fan base, which could in turn affect the bottom line quite substantially.  Angery fans will not buy future games from Bioware, and Bioware, EA and Wall Street all know it. So this could be a devestating event for the company if things do not go well.

Almost exactly the same as EMS in ME3. And lack of choices that made a difference. I could play whichever character 'role' but in the end I had to battle the same factions and so on. No real impact on the world itself. Frustrating and dissapointing really. Add all those extra hours I spent revisiting the same locations and bland surroundings and there you have it. Caution, experience may vary.

Maybe it's a stupid question but anyway.. if it's 1.9gb not to exceed the maximum size limit for Xbox users, why not splitting it in two parts?

If you look at posts / articles you'll find that people who aren't normally vocal and don't usual post in the forums actually did so to try and get some closure and while you'll always get a group of people in any situation that will complain because they can, Bioware would not have responded if it was actually a minority as you keep claiming. Which, if you put any effort into checking before posting you'd see that there were a lot of polls taken on the opinion of the endings. Seeing as none of the polls I found had less than 85% in favour of something being done about the ending. It is in fact a majority.

Couple of links to polls are below
86% wanted something more
Only 2% were happy with the ending as they are

So, if we have to load a save prior to the Cerberus Base mission, do you think the Final Space Battle will have extra scenes?

Or is it just because EMS for the ending is calculated at the end of this mission?

They have to pay for server usage. That's why.

Also, 1.9GB is a LOT. LotSB was somewhere around 1.5GB. Granted, this EC DLC was a rush job, so the large size likely has a lot to do with a lack of time to condense coding. With a lot more time, they likely could have cute the size in half by reworking how it's coded, but they needed this out fast.

I wonder how much can they fit in 1.9 gb of DLC like this one. Shadow Broker was about 1.5, and it took what, one and a half hour to complete, minimum? I'm hoping for some gameplay, kinda of a stretch, but even if it is "only" cutscenes, I doubt they'll go Metal Gear Solid 4 on our asses and have a 20 minute long cutscene.
