I didnt like any of the voices at character generation but went with the one that was the least annoying...or so I thought. One of the things he says almost everytime I direct the character is "Should I get you a ladder so you can get off my back" which was kind of funny the first couple of times but now 20+ hours into the game I just want to stuff a sock in his mouth. Any mods or codes I can use to change the voice?

haha I knew right away what you were going to say. I'm sorry you had to hear the dreadful so-called "violent" VO.
If you have the toolset you may open your saved game and change your character's voice there. Look for the tree:
Player_Char->Player_Char_Char->
and under that somewhere is the voice file. change the "violent" part to "wise" or "cocky" or some such.
Sorry I can't be more specific- I don't have the toolset on this computer.

I changed mine to Alistair's shortly after I changed his appearance to Alistair's. Though it defaults to "hostile" Alistair's dialog. It's okay, though. I'll probably figure how to fix that later.

@ReggarBlane
How did you change it to Alistair's?
I want to change my elf's voice to Soris'.
Like the topic creator, I also chose "violent," and the ladder comment gets annoying really quick.

I did a search in the toolset for the prefix of the voice label and it showed me several dialog sets, of which Alistair's was one.
The catch is: It has to be a character that has command barks (such as when you select the character and when you give it commands it can't do, etc.). Any character that can be on your team should have such -- even temporary team members, but not all NPCs do.
It seems that dialogs for characters with different levels of approval default to the lowest level of approval for their barks.
I can't remember who Soris is.

Soris is the City Elf's cousin, your first party member in the origin story.
Thank you for the info, I'll check it out.
The elf voice choices were particularly annoying, because none of them seemed elf-like to me.

Just give me my sociopath voice from NWN. I'll always love my little halfling assassin running around telling people "Your remains will decorate my home!". Just never got old.

ha! I remember that voice from NWN.
And, to Reggar, thanks again, it worked! No more annoying ladder comments, and my elf finally sounds like an elf.

I think it's funny that all the voices in the game are really well done except the PC's voice. I've tried several of them and don't really like any of them. The comments made all become annoying by the end of the game. It's really the one bit of dialogue that becomes extremely repetative. All the group characters have these fantastic extended conversations and my character says the same handful of lines ad infinitum. I keep wishing so badly that my character had the same level of voice acting as the other characters, and actually spoke his/her lines instead of mumbling the same lame one liners throughout the game.

I always control Alistair while I'm playing. LOL. I can't stand my PC's voice. I will try to change my PC's voice to Alistair using the earlier tips then XD

Cool - I need to do this. I chose (I think) "experienced" voice for my female human rogue, and she is constantly saying the "ladder" thing, and also a rather annoying "Alright, alright!" when I get her to do stuff. What about "wise"? Is that less annoying? (Hopefully)

I use wise as default.
It's definitely less annoying -- there seems to be more lines with wise. Probably the most-often repeated is "It's a fine thing we've done!" after a battle; but even then, it's not nearly as repetitive as some of the others.
I also like "suave," and I especially like that the most-often repeated is "Delighted" when asked to pickup or perform actions.

I think the lines are written wrong in the first place. As it is, the character is talking to YOU personally through the screen as if you're there. This is supposed to be an RPG, where you are assuming the identity of one of the characters. What are you, a ghost floating near your party telling them what to do?
Might be a little picky, but I think it would have been better if the lines were written as if they're talking to each other. Like when you tell your PC to open a chest: "Got another chest here!" or it could be lighter like: "I'm calling dibs on this one!"

Yeah as others have said, didn't even need to open the topic to know what this was going to be with regards.
For some reason I don't find it half as annoying on male PC than I did on the female PC and I only stuck with the latter because I didn't know how to change it and at the time couldn't really be bothered fiddling.
Hmm... anyone know if it possible to use Sandal's?
Tempted to change my current dwarf commoner (avatar) to that if it is possible hehe
Though not sure if could put up with him saying that word over and over again throughout the whole adventure
Enchantment!

I don't think Sandal has command-related VOs. These are the things that the game voices when you give orders to the character you control or when something happens to the character. Lots of NPCs have the latter, but not the former. However, I would not be surprised if many NPCs have neither since nothing can hurt them... such as Sandal.
The best you can do is search the toolset (version 1.01 recommended) and see if there's a dialog that works for the PC's voice parameter in your saved game.

The ''Get off my back'' line drove me nuts in my 1st play through! Oh man if only i knew! I'm changing to Experienced for my warrior, wandering if that's annoying at any point?

Hm I don't play on PC so I can't change anything. I don't remember what I chose but my character always say "Are you daft?" when I try to do something I cannot. That was always amusing.Pimpskinny wrote...

By the way can anyone help? In the tool set after I opened my save, under Player_Char->Player_Char_Char-> ... err i can't find the voice section for my character to change it? Can anyone help me out here please?
Actually found it! however, when changing to ''Experienced'' in game he loses the voice sound totally. typing Experienced fully, is it the correct command? anyone knows??? Experience may be? or something like Exp?
