If the Collectors are just cloned Protheans, then what's stopping the Reapers from making more of them?

Last I checked Javik isn't a queen that can hatch hundreds of thousands of eggs.

You can make improvements without screwing the lore and so far it seems bioware has kept the MP true to the lore.

Oh yeah bring back the protheans that they made it VERY CLEAR WERE EXTINCT in 1 and 2 and adding one to 3 is lore friendly indeed

Bringing back one prothean  that was in stasis is not the same as bringing the entire race back.  *facepalm* try thinking for a change.

Not really, no. The current cycle hardly knows of every Prothean outpost or secret facility that was an attempt to survive. They have charted less than what, 1 or 2% of the galaxy? We've been shown a stunning two such facilities in the entire series and there have been no hints to say it is not possible to find more. Javik's the last one alive? So far as he knows. Protheans being found and reintroduced in larger numbers is entirely possible.

He is making a point by saying the collectors are thought to be extinct just like the rachni were thought to be extinct there could be collectors in hiding

For those of us that killed the vile Xenos on Noveria...how did the Reapers come across ANOTHER Queen from an extinct race?  Where did it come from?  Oh that's right, the "Breeder" was created by the Reapers using artificial means.

So what's stopping them from making more Collectors?  Considering that the Collectors were fairly effective shock troops...like I said earlier, "We're talking about a self proclaimed immortal race of sentient
starships who obliterate organic life every 50,000 years or so, created
the Citadel and Mass Relays...and cloning more Collectors is somehow
thought to be outside of their abilities?"

Also considering they were entirely mutilated and genetically engineered by the Reapers, I'd find it hard to believe they wouldn't have their DNA on store or something.

Do you mean irradiated? That wouldn't make much sense! Learn basic English before you start calling others an "idiot".

Where are you getting your information, anyway?! Where was it implied that all the Collectors were on a single space station?! That isn't ever implied!

Also, you fail to understand that Mordin has studied the Colloctors, and found that they are simply bio-mechanical clones. It is nothing for the Reapers to make more, even if the far-fetched idea that every single Collector was somehow on one single base.

I am not the best with English seeing as it isn't my first language you ignorant ******. Normally I would use spell check but in the standard form it doesn't allow me.

Excuse me for not living in America.

EDIT: I did not mean Irradiated, I meant eradicated, so I used an I instead of an e, sue me.
I also like how many exclamation marks you're using, very passionate about this topic I see!!!

Way to miss the point.

How can I make it any more clear? In every Codex, the Rachni are labeled as extinct species. Yet there they are!

You are telling me, that even though you believe the Collectors are all wiped out, BW couldn't just bring them back with the most flimsy of pretext, just like they do with the Rachni?

C'mon now... You are really grasping at straws.

Not to mention... How could you possibly argue against fighting a new enemy?! The great majority of us are very tired shooting the same 22 flavors of baddies (I am generously including turrets, swarmers, and Prime drones in those 22 baddies, so really... 18 different bad guys.).

At the bottom of page 2 I made a post, but I think someone posted right after I did so it probably got missed. Not new factions, but a few new enemy ideas.

I don't care where you are. You are simply calling names because you don't have an intelligent point to make.

Call me some more names, and you might just lose that account.

Bioware controls lore.
Bioware controls MP.
They can change either as much as they please. Personally, I would enjoy fighting collectors.

Also, ABRAM SMASH.

They aren't cloned, they've undergone massive genetic rewrite. The reapers can't make more because there aren't more protheans.

As for this whole argument, collectors are reaper forces, and we already have reaper forces that are better equipped than the collectors. The whole reason the collectors exist in ME2 was for the reapers to use as a foothold force. During the final mission, you find out that they are building better forces for the reapers to use instead of the outdated prothean models. The reapers using collectors during the current cycle would be like using powder musketts to fight a current day war.

If you launched a war aimed to destroy an entire species, and that species dwindled to the point where it went into hiding and never emerged for centuries, would you not think it was extinct?

Shame Bioware decided to tie in the multiplayer with the single player, snookered themselves if they ever wanted to introduce new enemies into multiplayer. They would need to alter the single player to factor in any additions to the enemies faced in multiplayer. If they weren't tied in together this would not be a debatable issue.

I mean really, their troop list is pretty much already done; Drones, Assasins, Guardians, Scions, Praetorians, Abominations, plain Husks even.
Why anyone would want to argue AGAINST a new foe is beyond me.  Fighting the same three groups forever would get boring beyond belief.

This also makes me think that I have not killed nearly enough Collectors, even in ME2. There was, what...? Three Collector encounters?!
Horizon, Collector Ship, and Suicide Mission. Not really counting the derelict Reaper.

My bloodlust for shooting Collectors has not been sated. Dropping a ready-made and underused faction as great as the Collectors into MP should be a no-brainer.

From the Mass Effect Wiki;
"While studying Collector data in the lab aboard the Normandy SR-2, Mordin Solus determined that the Reapers indoctrinated the Protheans and compensated for their growing lack of ability due to prolonged indoctrination through cybernetic modifications. The modifications are beyond any form of repair, each Collector drone being little more than a clone-"

Couldn't they have maps that are set in ME2 timeframe and have collectors then?
