How can I make it any more clear? In every Codex, the Rachni are labeled as extinct species. Yet there they are!

If you launched a war aimed to destroy an entire species, and that species dwindled to the point where it went into hiding and never emerged for centuries, would you not think it was extinct?

I'm not sure of your point.

My simple point being; BW has brought back species they said to be extinct, many times. BW has never even declared the Collectors to be extinct, so there is no reason to believe all the Collectors are gone. In fact, clues within ME3 point to the continued existence of Collectors.

There is nothing in ME lore that would prevent BW from dropping a Collector faction into MP. They can use any flimsy excue, and the average fanboy would accept it. Harbinger led one faction of Collectors. There are millions of Reapers, so who is to say that another Reaper couldn't have it's own faction of Collectors, or even different type husks?

Writing them into the game is too easy. I simply believe that it is a programming issue.

No, I know this is the MP and some people that play MP don't always care about the story but ME 3's MP is still connected to the story (and I am not talking about just getting your galactic readiness score up). Our MP characters are still fighting in the same war Shepard is and in ME 2 the collectors were destroyed and they need to stay that way.

As already pointed out, both in this thread and in hundreds of other threads before it, there are still plenty of collectors around.

Just because Shephard himself doesn't face any it doesn't mean that they are not part of the war at all.

They fit perfectly in the lore, and I am a hardcore lore enthustiast!

The point is, the galaxy THOUGHT the rachni were extinct when they weren't. Saren found an egg and hatched it into a rachni queen in secret. If you let the rachni queen live, then it goes into hiding and the galaxy thinks that the rachni is still extinct.

The rest of your "argument" I addressed in my previous post.

If the Collectors are just cloned Protheans, then what's stopping the Reapers from making more of them?

They aren't cloned, they've undergone massive genetic rewrite. The reapers can't make more because there aren't more protheans.

As for this whole argument, collectors are reaper forces, and we already have reaper forces that are better equipped than the collectors. The whole reason the collectors exist in ME2 was for the reapers to use as a foothold force. During the final mission, you find out that they are building better forces for the reapers to use instead of the outdated prothean models. The reapers using collectors during the current cycle would be like using powder musketts to fight a current day war.

Okay, I doubt there's anything shorter of a stasis pod in Mass Effect that can halt the cellular degeneration of fifty thousand years and the Collectors made their pretense known centuries before the event of ME2.

Even if they aren't clones, (which Mordin says they are in ME2) their biology had mostly been replaced by Reaper tech to overcome the negative effects of indoctrination, so the only thing the Reapers need to do is to find some samples and then they could just start growing clones of them anyway.

From the Mass Effect Wiki;
"While studying Collector data in the lab aboard the Normandy SR-2, Mordin Solus determined that the Reapers indoctrinated the Protheans and compensated for their growing lack of ability due to prolonged indoctrination through cybernetic modifications. The modifications are beyond any form of repair, each Collector drone being little more than a clone-"

LITTLE MORE THAN A CLONE. It doesn't say that it IS a clone. I could say that my sister is little more than a dog, but that doesn't mean she IS a dog.

Think about that for a second. If they really could clone whatever races from the past they wanted, why would they need to reaperize the current civilizations?

I'm sorry, but in the funny way the English language works... I could only assume that your sister is indeed a literal  dog, when put in that context.

Shame Bioware decided to tie in the multiplayer with the single player, snookered themselves if they ever wanted to introduce new enemies into multiplayer. They would need to alter the single player to factor in any additions to the enemies faced in multiplayer. If they weren't tied in together this would not be a debatable issue.

They had absolutely no problems with creating a new Cerberus project that's not tied in with the singleplayer to introduce the Phoenix.

Not to mention that the enemies in the singleplayer are only the three major factions. Make sub/splinter factions out of those.

Coming from someone who already considers MP non-canon and thus believes it only adheres to lore on a basic level (as in they can't suddenly make it an old western survival horror game, for example): I think OP's idea sounds great.

My opinion stands, so please don't try to argue about MP's relation to lore with me; respect my opinion and I'll respect yours.

Yup, nice fanboy logic kotor, because we all know how lore is more important than fun or a break from the extremely repetitive gameplay Mass Effect has to offer.

- end of sarcasm

what do you think they are going to do to make it less repetitive?

mobs spawn
mobs shoot
you shoot
mobs die, or
you die
rinse repeat.

But......they look different!

Because cloning degenerates the quality of the organic material over time, which they can replace with tech and they're after the minds of the organic civilizations, which not only can create different patterns and add more diversity the natural way than they might think of.

I'd imagine that they want those minds to be as pure as possible if they're going to upload them into machine bodies and make more of themselves.

After all, they believe in the strength of diversity. Cloning the same thing over and over again wouldn't add much to that.

Ah, yes! That was another very interesting concept.

At this point, we have more player characters than actual enemy types. Something needs to be done to freshen this thing up.

Adding a Collector faction is my first choice, splinter factions would be my second.

I guess I feel quite the same about you!

Saying "little more than" in English context means figuratively as close to the literal meaning as it can get.

What would "little more than a dog" mean literally?! Would that be a wolf? Use your head, man!

This is a good point. What is Mass Effect without lore? It's Halo. But it looks different.

I would really like collectors as an enemy in mp. I dont care about the lore in mp. The lore is for sp. The mp is just for brainless fun to me, and a new enemytype would be a refreshing change.

By that logic, every Reaper since the last working cycle is outdated, yet they're fighting just fine.

If old guns can kill, why not use them where there's a lack of newer ones? Fill in the blanks.

Except that they are not "outdated". I don't know where you got that faulty information.

They were being used for 50,000 years. Somehow, two years after Shepards encounter, they are now "outdated'?!
They had a 50,002 year warranty?

Mind you... They ARE being used in the current Reaper War. Check your Codex, under Miracle at Palaven. Sheesh!

By that logic there are now husks, cannibals, mauraders, brutes, ravagers, and banshees. Newer weapons, as you put it. There's no lack of newer weapons. So I ask again, why use outdated forces?

You obviously don't. You are yet to even make a single salient point.

Furthermore... Judging by your manifest, you barely even play MP! Your credibility is pretty low. Try playing the amount we have, and you will understand our dire need for a fresher product.
