 Hey,

I'm currently following AreleX's excellent DW Rogue guide for my first playthrough, using Varric/Merril/Anders as companions and enjoying myself greatly. 

I've started planning my second playthrough already, and I want to use other companions this time. While looking through various mage build guides, it seeems to me almost every build synergizes best with Varric/Merril/Anders again. Since I don't want to use them, I'm interested in advice on a build for a playthrough with Fenris/Isabella/X (I suppose X can be Anders or Merril). I'd prefer a mage build, but I'm not ruling out a warrior.

What do you suggest? Thanks!

use the compendium link in my signature. both fenris and isabella are hands free builds in the companion's section.

a healer mage with aveline may works or a tank warrior with anders.

or you could stay aggressive and use single point Heal with your mage and anders and be better off with more damage than you can shake a stick at.

I'd suggest anders. You could consider Bethany too (act 1 and late act 3) if you're a warrior hawke and annoyed with anders. If you really want to use somebody new (no merrill, anders, varric) go with Aveline for double rally (might + control).

What difficulty are you planning on playing?

A Fenris, Isabela, Hawke Mage, Bethany/Anders combo is completely viable and allot of fun to play

You can't do hawke mage + bethany. You end up with Carver if your Hawke is a mage.
