No one feels the Reject ending was a big FU to fans?

I supported having a Reject ending all along, as a matter of role-playing. But if Reject had actually worked  -- I mean, led to a victory -- that would have been a big FU to me. I don't see how Bio satisfies both of us here.

I do not get how after three games of being told that a conventional victory of our ships vs. the Reapers was a impossible victory that would never happen people are acting suprised it would not work.

:( DLC Leviathan will be just more filler missions before the final assault. does that mean we have to wait for ME4 to make the final decision actually count for something?

So, let me get something straight. With the introduction of Legion and EDI as major characters in Mass Effect 2 and 3 and their respective character development continually indicating the line between organic and synthetic is not as clear or dichotomous as most would have, the ending still revolves around making synthetics and organics two completely opposite parties? The climax of the Rannoch mission was Tali telling Legion that the Geth had souls and Legion responding that he--they--already knew that they did.

Weren't Shepard's conversations with Legion written to show that the Geth have humanity just as any organic species does, just in a unique way?

And wasn't the entire side story of EDI becoming unshackled and falling in love with Joker in "her" weird AI/super computer way written to further illustrate the line between organics and synthetics is not so clear? That the tendency of intelligence, artificial or not, was to humanity?

To me, all it seems like is that they polished their pile of dog crap with some Windex then called it a day then threw on perfume of it. It still sucks; it's just less unpleasant to look and doesn't smell as bad.

No. The Catalyst thinks that organics and synthetics are violently opposed, and will destroy each other. Hence his deeply flawed solution.

Shepard, on the other hand, is not only aware that this is BS, but is in fact part of the reason it is BS. Thus, we are able to, one way or another, come up with a better solution.

It is, was, and always will be about the Reapers failling to understand organics (humans in particular) and Shepard's attempts to... educate them, shall we say.

Well, the more sophisticated versions of the argument -- there are a couple of active threads over on the storyline board -- say that Bio could have made the game so everyone was been wrong, and the Reapers were much weaker than they seemed to be. I guess this is technically true, since Bio could have done anything they wanted to their universe.,

Apparenly one of the themes of the series is Shepard "doing the impossible," so defeating the Reapers by just fighting really hard and really really wanting to win would have been OK.

This.

I always thought that bad guys were supposed to be basing their actions on bad ideas and bad values; isn't that what makes them, you know, bad? How did this suddenly become a problem with the ME universe?

Actually if you Listen Carefully  and picture  Soveriegn   Harbinger and that Reaper on Rannoch   how they talked and put it on the catalyst and the fact that "he said that they  Tried to do  the same thing before but it failed"   how would the catalyst know this when all known   information was  Destroyed?

only outcome is that its Harbinger  basically saying F U   i'm going to kill you if you choose the wrong choice basically..  i knew  before the EC  when i did the refusal  bam was that  point proven to me.

Not all info was destroyed. That's the point: it got preserved in Reaper form.

The standard objection is that such an ending would turn all other endings into falures.

And you'll notice that the LI in that ending will hold the plaque, but will not attach it to the wall. I think my LI even smiled.

.... of course we'll probably have to wait until ME4 for more, if they tell us at all. I'd love to be proved wrong in that though :)

Tali was my LI, so I didn't look for a smile. But on the youtube videos I saw of the ending I chose the LI didn't put it on the wall.

So I think I'm good! H edid take the breath after all...

Still not happy with the bloody starchild but
The EC ENDING is much better than the original
Still wondering why they could not do it like this the first time
It would have saved them a lot of trouble
And all the fan outrage
Thank you BW for sort of fixing the ending sort of

I noticed my LI NOT putting Sheps name on the memorial wall
Guess ther is still something related in the pipelines
Rescue mission??? Or do we have to wait until Me4
To see its conclusion if at all
