Thanks alot for the Extended cut, it sure made the game feel alot better as a whole.
As many have already pointed out, why stop with shepard? I'm pretty sure the majority of the people who have played this trilogy wouldn't mind you guys making yet another Mass Effect about shepard.
You even have the possibility to make a new trilogy, with a completely new story after the aftermath of ME3. But for the love of god... Make it about shepard, ME == Shepard, atleast in my mind...

Exactly! I want a sequel to this trilogy (new story arc or not) with Shepard. Maybe I played this the wrong way but for me Mass Effect was and will always be about Shepard, no other way to put it. A new character with a new name, a new face with a new background is not appealing to me anymore. Rpgs need a main actor, and that protagonist is Shepard

Well said, now let's hope someone at Bioware thinks the same :)

i dont know about that, i feel like you, the ME games was about sheperd but i still think a sequel with only refrences of sheperd and the war with the reapers would still be as good.

I agree that a ME game without Shepard is hard to imagine but Bioware has said countless times that ME3 is the end of Shepard's history (the fact that they killed him proves it).
Also the reaper threat is over by one of the 3 decisions we made in the end.
The only way they return is that Bioware makes the reject decision a canon but then they won't be back until 50.000 years have passed (maybe to harvest the yagh?).
So, if there's going to be an ME4 it will be with another character and under very different circumstances.
Perhaps it will contain references about Shepard (after all he became a legend) but little more than that.
That's sad but I think that is also true Image IPB

To those who say the Mass Effect series can't have an uplifting ending I say why not. Video games are an escape from real life,I played the mass effect series because in the first two games there was always a way to be the hero that beat the odds and saved people then I got hit with the depressing ending of ME3. Video games are the escape today that films were in the depression and WW2. Back then comedies and adventure films with uplifting ending where popular because they let people escape the world's problems for an hour, and some of those films are now seen as the best ever made. The same is true today, for alot of us life sucks that is why when we go to the movies it's to see something like The Avengers where the heroes beat the odds and win. We go because it helps us escape and it leaves us feeling happy and hopeful in the end. That is why a lot of us played Mass Effect too,and the last two games had uplifting endings if you put work into them, there is nothing wrong with wanting that from the third game. There is also nothing wrong with using art to uplift people instead of depress them.

I'm not sure that any of that was ever said officially... and even if it was, things can change. There's also the point that they wrote the (destroy) ending in such a way as to almost beg for a sequel.. and the way the scene after the credits + the textbox is worded, they could even be hinting at a forthcoming Shepard trilogy. I know, it's probably not going to happen, but I think it's pretty certain that they've at least kept their options open, just in case.

With a big dish of luck, we might even know in a couple weeks, at SDCC, at the Mass Effect panel.

I couldn't agree more with what you wrote.

I posted this reflections here: http://social.biowar.../index/12950888

But people seem to be OK with how things are now and, like it or not, we must respect that.

How wonderful an uplifting ending would have been, and how little cost for Bioware to make it.

But in the end, it was their history, not ours, and many of us learned that the hard way.

Of course, not all of the great films from that era were uplifting. All Quiet on the Western Front? Double Indemnity? Citizen Kane? The Grapes of Wrath? Hell, I'm not even sure about Gone With The Wind and The Maltese Falcon.

Where can you download the extended cut for PC? I can't find a link anywhere >< There's nothing on bioware's website, there's nothing in the registered game content either.

Edit: nvmd apparently it's available when you start the game. BioWare should've made that clearer in the FAQ.

Great new ending. I have been successfully shut up by this. The closure is full and complete, the galaxy is united, thrives. Everything Shepard actually fought for happened, and best of all it was based on your choices. Really happy with it, guys; now you can defend your artistic vision. I find myself excited to see what's next.

Well that's my experience with DLC and PSN updates.  It's around that time, I have no idea why but it is what it is.  Hopefully we wont have to wait much longer.

Only 26 min left of the 4th here in Australia, and is I've been checking it every hour or so this has become one very frustrating day. Bioware makes some of the best games, but I'm not sure how much longer I can allow myself to bend over and be strung along by them AND the dodgy antics of the PSN.

extended cut=amazing. Thank you very much! I very much enjoyed all of it, especially the extra details about wtf the catalyst is, and what was said about the fate of the galaxy after the destroy ending. very very well done. Thank you.

Shouldn't you have known by now being in Australia how it works with timezones and EU PSstore updates?  It's EU-centric.

And that'd make sense if we had our own, localized, PSN.  We don't, and we are dependent on a timezones that's about half a day behind us.  It is what it is, and it's unsurprising.
