I am literally sick to my stomach with worry right now over this. I knew a lot of things I didn't like about the ending were still going to be intact from earlier announcements, but now that it's all here and real...I dunno. I can't see how this is going to save the endings, let alone the franchise.

However, I am reserving any real judgement until I actually see it for myself. I have also a bunch of pros (and cons) about what I'm hearing:

Pros:

- 2 gigs of content. That's quite a bit...hopefully it will be good stuff.
- They say the endgames in EC will play out based on previous choices, something I thought was severely, severely lacking about the endings as they are. I hope they're not embellishing here, because doing something like this will redeem the ending a lot in many peoples' eyes, even if new endings aren't there.

Cons:

- No new endings: Sorry guys, but I think this was the best happy medium. You keep the choices we have intact, but add new ones so players feel like they get to have "their Shepard's" ending. There really needed to be a wider range for the finale. Also, many people feel like the current choices have morally abhorrent themes (I am one of them), and it's a shame those have to be the only ones.
- Still pigeonholed: I have a feeling we're still going to be pigeonholed into undesirable circumstances, ones where no choice we ever made could avoid the outcome...like the SR2 being stranded, the relays being destroyed, etc.

So there you have it. I hope this at least makes what is there easier to swallow, but honestly, I never felt like "clarity and closure" was the issue. So...this will not address my issue, unfortunately.

This! All of this! I just wanted a happy ending.

Agreed, its like they're trying to address all the problems except the main one everyone is going on about; the lack of truly different endings.

Why they refuse to consider that(even in a later dlc) I have no idea.

What about Extended Cut for PC in Europe? When will it be released? I hope this sentence "The Extended Cut will release on June 26th on Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 3 in North America and July 4th for PlayStation 3 in Europe" is wrong. Or else, it means BioWare people are cheating on the unlucky guys who don't have a PS3.

The podcast does not make me optimistic about this DLC.

I'm almost positive they meant worldwide on June 26 for Xbox and PC, it's just European PS3 users who have to wait until July 4.

Well, either the EC will bad, resulting in some delicious NERDRAGE the forums has never witnessed before, or the EC is good, resulting in regained respect of the fans. Let's hope it's the latter.

Agreed I want to have fun with this game. Only way I can fun with this game if the ending is happy. Like Shepard surviving.

4 more days...good god, I wasn't expecting that. I'm sure people will moan no matter what the EC brings, but I'm incredibly excited for this.

Also, I love that banner they've got out the front. I wonder if they're bringing back any other characters besides Hackett and the squaddies.

Well after listening to the pod cast I have 2 things to say.

1. Its what I expected and I am not inpressed.

2. The EC was limited due to the 2GB DLC limit of xbox360. Sorry xbox owners but this just pisses me off that due to the limits of your console and microsft WE all might suffer.

2 GB is 1/5th the size of the actual game.

I don't understand these complaints.

Why?  What can they possibly do with this? They already told you they aren't changing it just clarifying.  Clarify crap? You are excited over clarification of crap? SHEEPLE!!!

Ya know...

You're questioning us on why we don't think the ending is crap. Then you call us sheeple.

This is contradictory because you think that we should all be like you and think that the ending is crap.

...ya know, some people just have different opinions.

It is crap, I don't care about your opinion.  I live in America and for now we have that right.  Don't know for how much longer though.  Anyway, so you are completely okay with 3 choices after three games where decisions meant everything?

You can't be serious or you are insane.

Okay, seriously now...why are you even here if this is how you feel?  And don't tell me it's because you have a right to complain when in the same breath you tell someone else you don't care about their opinions.  If you can sit here with a load of butthurt and expect everyone to accept it without question, you can bloody well tolerate opinions that run opposite of yours.  No one's saying you have to agree with them, but you can damn well be respectful of them.  That goes for Americans or any other nationality on this planet, like it or not.  So dial it down a notch, yeah?

Anyway, back to my question: Why are you even here at this point?  If you're so convinced that the EC will do nothing to resolve your anger and frustration over the endings, well then you're just sh*t outta luck, because it's all we're going to get.  Bioware's made that clear, and you can wail on about it all you want, but just know that you're wailing in vain.

Seriously, just wait for the freaking content to come out, folks.  Save your righteous indignation for when you've actually seen it.

Oh, and just a side note, I wouldn't get all jazzed up about the size of the DLC.  Remember, the content is dialogue and cinematics, and I suspect those types of files are larger than files related to direct gameplay.  Don't mean to pee in everyone's Cheerios, but I just don't think that the file size is something to get THAT excited about.

Will judge it when I see it for myself. I will take my time to finish my preliminary exam this Tuesday, then go home and play it. Guys, remember, it needs 1.9 GB. So, from that info, the extended cut must be big.

Dear Bioware,

Thank you for making one of the most incredible games for our generation. There is nothing else I could say that would express my gratitude. Despite all the bugs and glitches ME Trilogy will be in my personal hall of fame!!

Sincerely,
Zeph

This.

The original Mass Effect was like 7 GB.

Bioware dedicated 2 GB just for the ending to a game.

I play ME3 on PS3 btw. So no I'm not just some Xbox fanboy making a defense.

They actually are addressing that, the ending cutscenes are supposed to be different depending on a lot of the decisions you made in the games.

They just aren't adding more choices to the final decision.

Final Decision =/= Ending

was that really necessary bioware? i'm rather busy the next few weeks. the worst thing that could happen right now, is an extended cut that keeps me from doing important stuff. :(

dialogue and cinematics are actually usually smaller than files related to environment and character models.

So I'm fairly sure that there are a ton of dialogues and cinematics in this. I'm not really expecting new gameplay or addition to missions.

It is an amazing universe, and all three games were great games. The ME3 ending lacked, but it didn't make it a bad game.I'm quite looking forward to the extended cut.
