Agreed I want to have fun with this game. Only way I can fun with this game if the ending is happy. Like Shepard surviving.
What if you can get this only by destroying what the existing "red" ending requires you to destroy? Is that still happy enough for you? (This isn't considered a spoilery question, is it?)

OK - new .. sorry ... different takes of more or less same ending. So currently you can't get all the endings unless you do multi-player. If that's changed - that's one big tick in my book! Otherwise - they have said all along this will not be a new ending. Seriously, save yourselves the heartache of expecting a new ending. You'll get more goodbyes. There be more explanation to assure us that everyone dies. Characters will tell us stuff. But basically the end as she is is the end as she will be. I don't like it - but Bioware have been consistent in saying that it won't be a new ending. Yes - I'll download and play; yes I hope I get more info, and I'll enjoy that; but all those plots holes? The Catalyst? Narrative cohesion? Etc etc.... stop hoping now or we'll all go crazy!
cheers

You have a few options to completely avoid the garbage that BioWare refers to as multiplayer:
1) For all platforms: play ME Infiltrator or ME Datapad or both via a supported smartphone to upgrade readiness(did this at firs)
2) For the 360 and PC: Use Gibbed's save editor to increase the war asset value of something.....I make my SR2 be worth 10k war assets and done......at 50% that is still 5000 war assets by itself so the best ending variations are guaranteed right off the bat no matter what. It's just a quick one minute mod and you're all set.

"Why are we doing the EC?"
Real answer: We have no hope of selling single-player DLC otherwise.
That said, it looks substantial. I hope it's good. And I want to be able to look at the end with the EC and think "Ahhhh. That's better."

I probably shouldn't have listened to the podcast and just waited. I listen to those guys and I think of the respect I had for them before the end and I want to believe what they say about how they feel about the ME universe and the fanbase, but then all I can hear is the mountain of BS, half-truths/lies and insulting comments.
And while Jessica Merizan might be really good people, sweet and kind, etc. I find myself totally disregarding any input she has to offer because it all sounds like "oh god I wanna keep my job" to me. Cynical and unfair? Probably, but that's what goes through my head.
So, I'm going to open my mind as much as I can and DL the EC and see. Last chance for the ME Team for me. For Bioware, DA III is their last chance.
i agree, however, EC is last chance for me for BW period, if this sucks, i will never buy anything from them ever again

Yeah, after listening to the podcast, I'm convinced the dev's still don't understand half the problems people have with the ending.
Really doubt this will change my head-cannon.
thats not what ive seen after hours of pouring over forums and videos. Most wanted a NEW ending. BW is not even admitting their **** up, just calling us stupid pretty much
No they're not. By admitting they didn't know there was a demand for such an ending, they admitted their OWN ignorance. They never insulted the fans.

1. BEST NEWS I HAVE HEARD ALL DAY!
2. Any chance, Darth_Trethon, you can explain what is Gibbed's Save Editor? I haven't been on the BSN in the last month, and I have no clue that is.

You can check out the mod tutorial thread I made for the ME2 version of Gibbed's here(more speciffic and detailed info on what's possible and how to do it in the outdated FAQ which is really insanely long
Different editor for ME3 but the basics of how to mod are the same.
And the ME3 modding thread made for ME3 with the ME3 gibbed editor by snfonseka here: http://social.biowar.../index/10759911

I'm sure thats true for some of them but advertising how ME3 "provoked a bigger fan reaction in gaming history" is kinda insulting....
It did provoke the biggest reaction in gaming history. Don't kid yourself.
And that's not even insulting.

I know it did, the fact they they advertised it is as if it were a good thing was what I found insulting.

That's weird.
If anything they would be insulting themselves. But I'm sure a lot of people bought the game just to see what the fuss was all about.

It WAS good thing for them. Any publicity is good publicity. Don't you know anything about this business?

Same here I am getting skyrim for my birthday and 1600 ms points now I can do overlord and arrival and if extended cut does not make me feel better in the slightest I will get the skyrim dawnguard instead so the plot thickens.Almighty_Hoogs wrote...
On my birthday aswell. Also Skyrim's dlc is out on that day.
The podcast just sounded odd they kept saying the same thing closure and clarification over and over:blink:.
"I had felt confused saddened enraged and dissappointed with the ending I just hope ec can at least give me no emotion towards it or atleast say huh alright works for me.
I say it now bioware has the capacity to do great you just got to remove the chains that shackle your mind and the rest will follow.
I didn't like the endings and I know I am not a rocket man blowing up my fuse up here alone:innocent:
He just kept talking and talking in one incredibly long unbroken sentence moving from topic to topic so no one could interupt it was really quite hipnotic.

The extended cut is really more about taking the things that are there and making them shine even more
That's a line from the podcast (08:58).
So basically what we're getting is things that are there further explained upon while keeping the things, which people got so mad and confused about, intact. This is literally spraying glitters on a turd hoping it'll look better but it still smells terrible.
I never expected much from the EC in the first place, but after hearing the podcast it sounds to me you failed to listen and acknowledge what people said was terrible and wrong with the ending. The EC is a very nice gesture, and perhaps created from the idea some people felt there were some blank pages that needed to be filled.
Excellent strategy. With the EC you can say you've done a good deed, gave something to the community after the massive uproar and piggyback on the feedback you've received from the least amount of people.
